Well I guess that makes Kobe the GOAT and (at the time you mention he could do it) better than Jordan. Not to mention Iverson and McGrady have thrown up 30+ppg against Zone Defense AND handchecking... I guess they're also greater than Jordan.

Iverson's had 5 out of 11 seasons.
Bryant's had 6 seasons of 25+ppg, Iverson's had 9.

He ( KB42PAH) always comes back with that game in '98 where MJ was 2-17 (although he doesnt mention that MJ was wrist injured and had thorn ligaments in his index finger). Anyway MJ stopped at 17 attempts. What does KB do? He jacks 40+ shots

No its not, in 1 on 1 you can just use carries, elbows, and shouldering to bully the defender out of the way and score.
Shooting contested jumpshots is way harder.

i agree with you, shooting jumpshots with a guy in your grill is incredibly difficult especially in the 2nd halves of games, it takes a tremendous amount of energy, discipline & skill to to make a jumper when you're going 1 on 1. & kobe's jumpers are not wide open like this moron says cuz no one ever leaves him & he very rarely actually gets a truly open look

Since KB, AI and Lebron all had careeer bests at 31+ppg with the 'zone', obviously MJ would get killed. If a guy without a J like LBJ can get 31 and midget 30 year old get can 33.4, I say MJ in his prime would only get 15ppg.
I predict KB will shoot 55% for the next 12 years also to beat MJ's career 50%. I can feel it.

Kobe goes against 2-3 defenders, he plays against zone defenses-which would have destroyed MJ. Mj got to go iso all day. Imagine kobe not having to deal with double teams, he would average 42 ppg. Jordan had it so easy, single coverage, slow white guys, no zone-whoopi do!

True, KB came back with a good 2nd half. By the way, MJ only had 1 sub 50% shooting game ever in his 50 pointers and he was 17-35 at 49% in that game - just barely.

Correction: MJ was playin with an injured wrist, scored 64pts on 27-49, thats way above 50%. And it was an OT game, that's why he had so many shots. tremendousd is correct, that was the only 50 point game he shot under 50%

I compiled a complete 50+ game list since the 86-87 season, complete with a Hollinger Game Score column. Iverson and Byrant are the most common players who've had 50+ games under 50%. Jordan had ONE - out of 39. Not to mention he shot 49%.
