Mazarati was a great live band. I used to have this on vhs with them doing their version of Head by Prince. Nice solos but I couldnt hear the guitars.

i can't worry about what others do, i gotta make it into heaven. what someone else does is their biz. not for me to judge, i'll let god do that. i have no authority to say the things you are saying.

  • My sister introduced me to SheilaE in St. Louis back in the early 80s........SWEET!

  • WOW!!! Can you just imagine the bass in that room???

  • Don't forget Little Richard!!!

  • thats funny each one with a prefect prince Imitation

  • He was the largest influence in that area at the time. He also put a lot of those personalities in the mix, Sheila being one.

  • Parliament Boosty George we salute u! Po whats that stink FUNK!

  • I would have been at this party if brown mark hadnt scammed me out of a production deal with Motown. I no terry the lead singer sence 8th grade bryant jr high we both studied karate back then. Thoughs were the good days. knew mark sence 9th grade ramsey. Oh well

  • can't disagree w/u on that...

  • Being a former member of the band called: Radiance from Oakland CA. This show was performed in Oakland CA. at a place Called: IVYS! This is were a lot of top entertainers played. I was at this show. In fact, I think I still got a pic from this show. Mazarati was a cool group. All the members were cool with us...

  • Radiance was cool too..i´ve got the LP...good music

  • this so amazing love it

  • What I would have given to be at this performance! Great post!

  • ...Sheila E. ...America... Is that Brown Mark on the bass? Eddie on Sax?? Diggin' it, Sheila and Mazarati. Long time no see...

  • thats romeo on bass

  • @jessale hell no that's Romeo , but brownmark did write all

    their music!!!

  • YES!

  • Sheila E singing America I love IT!

  • Screamer kills it always, I know him in real life too, he's bald now =)

  • Sheila doesn't look that into it, does she?

  • thius song was what got me into Prince, i know it was late but i was always into punk rock and didnt pAY ATTENTION TO OTHER MUSIC THEN I HERD THIS SONG AND WAS BLOWN AWAY went out got ATW album and have been a loyal prince man since. i even have a big prince tatoo.

  • Rhythm section are killing it! :)

  • I love this song so much. I've been listening to it alot lately!

  • Does anyone know the name of this track?

  • Thats "America" by Prince on the "Around the World in a Day" album.....

  • Thanks.

  • you had 2 versions of this concert but you took the 2nd part of it off...let me guess, they threatened to take it off because you had "head" on it eh?...damn, prince's attorneys are strict.

  • SHEILA E. at 5:21:

"Come on ev'rybody. Git up on ur feet. Let's go. Come on. We finna go home if you aint gon' git up. Come on. Alright, ev'rybody stop on the one! That's it. Good-bye. I'm leavin'. Git up, then. Come on. Clap ur hands. Clap. Come on. Mazarati can go home.

They got paid 2night. They can go home if they want 2. Then sing,

'Rock, Rock, Holly Rock Ev'rybody Wanna Holly Rock!' You say it. I can't hear u. Sing! Good Gawd! Unh!"

    She's awesome.

  • I miss the Minneapolis sound.... :(

BTW, they are a good band, but don't have half of the stage presence as Prince.

  • the sax player is Eddie M from Sheila's Band, he also played the sax on Temptation from Around the World in a Day. Prince protogees in the 80's were the best, they played Prince music the right way

  • sheila never looks bad. That's one fine ass woman. Damn I wanted to marry her. Damn.

  • LOl they all look like prince.

  • ?This would be great if the audio were better.

U can tell "Prince" directed of course.

So his touch makes a huge difference.........

  • DAMN! THEY ARE CUTTING THE F*** UP!

  • This is how concert is suppose to be! Hype and fun as hell. Today all you see in concerts is the same lame dance routines and the same lip sync songs...the audience just happy to see a celebrity...dull as hell! During the 80's concerts were hype as hell!

  • so true, so true

  • sheila's so cute in here!...mazarati is funky! i was only 4 yrs old and i remember my mom always jmmin to music like this! its real FUNKY!

  • we don't see that kind of energy on stage anymore... i miss the 80's and the minneapolis funk scene !

  • i live in england now but i was in a band called DIVINITY

from Oakland ca in the 80's i remember watching Mazarati

at Ivey's in Jacklondon square im sure this was it.

another big bay aria band was Radiance

I would know that stage anyware i played on it so many times

some body hit me back if this is Iveys in oakland.

hit on my space at DIAMOND TRAX.

    OR MAIL lodabassa@yahoo.com.

  • Yeah that's Ivy's! I saw them there twice and went there many times for other artists!

  • hey why did you get rid of the lonely girl on bourbon street vid maun?...that was my favorite one!!!!

  • Sheila is looking fine as always. Damn I wanted to marry her. Still will if she lets me. Oh lawd. O man. whew!

  • i really loved this band, but the overdone look killed them, they looked too fey for the market, but, like mother's finest early work, the music was to fire to ignore

  • I agree with the over done look. This was a bad ass band but to compare them with Mother's Finest is a little over the top. I love Mazarati but Mother's Finest can bury this band.

  • that's not why, there were some legal issues with the band, I think even though they were a "PRinc/BrownMark" band they were on the Motown label. The performed at the Under the Cherry Moon premere too

  • Guys please! It doesn't matter who pulled what back in day? It's all great music that EVERYONE can enjoy. Music should unify us, not divide. So please, let's be COOL and mature on this website. Thanks!

  • eat a dick

  • dumb racist

  • Thank You!!! Same here playa!! Was killing it in Detroit and in Ann Arbor, MI!!

  • Black folks??? What planet have you been on??? When this was hot and I sported the style...I pulled chicks in just about every race. Actually...White girls were the easiest.

  • "white girls were the easiest"....and you have a problem with the term black folks? I bet you aint pullin any "white chicks" with your fucking gerry-curl now, you old/ fat fuck.

  • I didn't have a problem with ANY term...wheat germ...I was making a point. Prince came out with his look and style of music and that style was acceptable. Chicks of all flavors went CRAZY! IF you didn't have fun during that period...you were either just a weak ass and just lame! So don't get mad at those of us who got to experience it. This old fuck is married to a hot Fillipino woman with two kids and I do special FX for a living. Not too bad the way I C it.

  • how many drugs was Prince doing to make them act and dress like that?

how many drugs were they doing to go along with it?

  • I don't know maybe the kind that made him a multi millionaire and you someone posting messages on a you-tube site!

  • exactly

  • This is just the look that a lot of people had during the '80s. The idea was to be STRAIGHT and only look gay or androgynous. It might sound hard to believe in todays' style of looking hard and thuggish but back then that look was really considered chic and it would get women.

  • much props to sheila E.....but it's hard to believe that black folks once liked this ambiguosly gay geri-curl-rock.

  • It's New Wave Punk MAN! WHAT DOES RACE HAVE TO DO WITH IT!

  • Was the afterparty at the Palace? If so, I was there.....

  • thanx 4 sharing.

  • that look like some sweaty get down, mama aint got no food funk right there

  • real last fank band

  • can you send me a link to them please they had a great song called Players Ball that I really loved

  • And you can't forget about 100 M.P.H.!!! :-)

  • these guys were only out 1 year and this was 1986 obviously, but where in the hell was this concert at?...the crowd wasn't loud enough because they kept urging people to dance and shout..lol.

  • This is the after party sp MFs in the audience were wore out.

  • Comment removed

  • WOW! SO intense...SO FUNKY! I love the rock element in this version.

Allthough they act a bit like Prince clones, but they all did at this time...

    Thanks 4 postin!

  • Brownmark went to high school w/ Sir Casey & winged them ... Prince heard a track they did and BAM !!! they signed to Paisley Park ... 2 albums were done - MAZARATI & MAZARATI 2 .... MAZARATI 2 promo copies made it to Canada & Europe then BAM !!! Motown pulled the plug ( WHAT A BUNCH OF ASSES !! ) ... If you good - you can get the REMASTERED CDs from Ebay like I did. MAZARATI WEBPAGE - myspace dot com slash 100mhp ( this is not a misspelling ) .... ANONYMOUSENT has left the building !!!

  • I always thought Mazarti looked liked Sister Sledge!! Sorry they did!

These guys are too hot to be cool!

  • We need this TYPE music to come back along with indy r&b and Afro-Punk bands and BLack Rock Coalition along with embracing our classic groups and Black Music will be fine.
