It has enough power to keep most people happy in both the V6 and GT models, it accelerates quickly in straight lines, and it doesn't corner well. It's a drag car, but like anything else, it requires a lot of modification to be a strong contender in its class. The mustang is exactly what it was intended to be, and it does it well. That's why it sells. Now please, leave it alone.

Do you know what IRS stands for? it means "Independent Rear Suspension" The Ford Falcons are "rear wheel drive" IRS!, I'm saying a live rear axle setup is a lot cheaper than a IRS setup, IRS offers better ride quality and handling characteristics but requires additional engineering effort and expense in development versus a live axle or beam axle arrangement,

V6 4.0 producing 210HP. The GT 4.6 V8 300HP.
A V6 3.7 Infiniti G37 produces 320HP and gets better fuel economy...
You know what, forget even that. My bro's Acura TSX I4 (2.5 liter I believe?) produces 205HP. That is pathetic on Ford's part.

Do you know what IRS stands for? it means "Independent Rear Suspension" The Ford Falcons are "rear wheel drive" IRS!, I'm saying a live rear axle setup is a lot cheaper than a IRS setup, IRS offers better ride quality and handling characteristics but requires additional engineering effort and expense in development versus a live axle or beam axle arrangement,

Castle,It depends on what you mean by Late Model. I owned and drove a 67 ford Falcon. And enjoyed every one of the 53,000 miles I put on it. I don't know why you fear the "live rear axle" so much. Drive a Mustang you might be pleasantly surprised.

By "late model" I mean the BA series Falcons from 2003 onwards, The new 2008 FG series Falcon has just been released here, A "live rear axle" Mustang would proberly drive just as fine as a late model Falcon with "IRS" down a straight road with out any bumps or pot holes,
But on New Zealands and Australians winding roads the Mustang would be absolutly out performed my our Falcon's and Commodore's for that matter, Fords Control Blade IRS is a world class design,

thats the thing. In a America all you guys care about is going fast in a straight line. American cars don't suit New Zealand roads or for that matter Australian roads because there is so many sharp corners. On our open highways or back country roads, every second corner is just about a hair pin. FG falcon f6 typhoon: 4.0L turbocharged DOHC 24 valve in-line 6, 310kw @ 5500rpm, 565Nm @ 1950-5200rpm.
FG falcon GT-P: 5.4 litre quad-cam 32 valve v8, 315kw @ 6500rpm, 551Nm @ 4750rpm.
In comparison, the current Ford mustang GT has 224kw, and only 434Nm @ 4500rpm. THe falcon out performs the new mustang in every way possible, especially the f6 typhoon, which will out perform both GT's.

2/4 Evo and Dubby both have turbos, the BMW and 350z do not.
and gas usage is not the point, its performance that we are talking about. the V8 would use alot more gas at full throttle due to displacement.... Turbos work.... But the point in building this car is for its heritage... not its performance or its "great on gas" stance towards the enviroment.... (as it dosnt have one).

honestly mustang is just a big discrace to the sport car scene, the car it self is just way too heavy and the suspension handles worse than a cruise boat and the engine is less responsive and slower than a 2L turbo. ford has to take agood look at the mustang and has to forget everything about the mustang and make a light, 2door rwd with good suspension then add a good v8, any sport car should way 2600 to 3500 pounds depending on the engine and power

I would gladly import a Mustang to germany. The thing is, that fuel is so damn expensive here and a 4liter engine can be thirsty. Other than that, the weak dollar makes american cars very attractive in europe imo, because they are so damn cheap.
Many europeans love US cars, it's just that those cars tend to have huge engines that like to drink alot, wich is one of the main argument against such cars here. The heart says yes, the brain says no. Fuel is just too expensive.

Ja aber wenn mer überlegt ich fahr en BMW E36 mit 1,6l Hubraum und hab da au 12l verbrauch, weil mer da einfach in höheren Drehzahlbereichen fahren muss das überhaupt was läuft.. und der Mustang V6 brauch vielleicht ca.3 liter mehr.. notfalls kann mer ihn immernoch auf Autogas umrüsten und da kostet der Liter maximal 0.70cent.. also sei deswegen net so abgeneigt.. also ich überleg mir echt ob ich mir net ein msutang V6 zulegen soll.
