If silly, but think that The Lion King is set long before Homo Sapiens Sapiens, is before a poacher who carries a gun and go.
This Well the movie is the same but different problems pratcicamente to pass the road and life and for my part I was born and creation seeing the Lion King, So for me:
There are some differences. Kimba’s father dies before he was born. And the name rhyming doesn’t have anything to do with it, considering Simba means “lion” in Swahili. Also, the parrot is more of a Timon character, not Zazu. The Kitty and Nala thing is used often. Friends becoming more then friends. But in BOTH cartoons, there is a mandrill and in BOTH they are mistaken as baboons. Normally I would think that they r coincidences, but the rock convinced me. Disney is wonderful, but not original.
@GothicAthlete Actually the rock was only used in one Kimba episode, and didn't serve much of a point in the show and only was used as background. Rocks like that do exist and before the making of the Lion King they sent people over to a savanna to take pictures so that they could draw to make the entire thing more realistic, the rock in my opinion has no business in being a part of the Kimba/Simba controversy.
@xNeonShadows Yes, actually, after doing a bit more research, I think it’s actually hard to really know for sure if they copied or not. Many of the things mentioned are things that are commonly used in stories.
I like how now Simba is the one who was dangled over a cliff. I mean, it couldn't have been his dad Mufasa. Simba didn't almost get trampled to death or anything.
well both stories take place in africa, africa has ALL the images seen in both movies including the giant rocks.....all the characters are there too...except white lions.....its rare for brown blacked haired lions to be born so i see why they made them the bad guys, there are similarities but there are differences, i don't see the problem of either of them, heck even the baboons are in both because they have thumbs lol so yes its possible they knew its possible they didn't....<3 this vid
America does this all the time though , it's not new practice . America takes a lot of asian movies/shows and turns them into their own thing . The Ring , The Grudge , Shutter , Naruto , most animes . . . . It's nothing new , eitherway , what does it matter ? You like The Lion King and/or Kimba , then you like it . Does it matter where it came from ?
@cookie15nigga Well the animes aren't "taking something and make it our own" its just dubs. Every country has those. But I think every country that makes movies has been doing this for years. Like Japan took "The Powerpuff Girls" and made "Powerpuff Girls Z"
But no, it doesnt matter where it came from. I like both simba and kimba :)
@cookie15nigga While that's true, here's the big difference: Disney didn't HAVE the rights to Kimba/Jungle Emperor Leo, and that makes it plagiarism. So in that sense, yeah it kind of does matter to some people. I'm not mad or attacking you or anything, but there's a difference between taking a concept that you bought the rights to and making it your own, and taking something that you don't have the rights to without giving credit to who did make it and making it your own.
@cookie15nigga Because Disney had marketed The Lion King as the first original Disney movie, one that wasn't based on some folktale or story. Then when Disney was being called out on it, it denied it had copied it from Tezuka. All of your examples weren't blatantly plagiarized.
I think some things may have been adopted "visually" speaking, but when it comes to their meaning and the story, TLK and JEL (or Kimba) are very separate. Humans never are mentioned or take the scene in TLK, which really changes the situation between the two stories. In JEL, it's about finding peace and genuine sacrifice. In TLK, it's about remembering who you are, and finding your place in life and accepting it. Also, with their father's in the clouds..
@3AXAPK0 ...Simba actually receives a message from his father as guidance because he has lost his way. In Jungle Emperor Leo, Leo's son is coming home from visiting man and see's a cloud that resembles the strength and majesty of his father, but no message is sent, just letting him know he's there. It's also not uncommon for Disney to adopt certain aspects of past stories into their feature films. But their story is usually their own.
@3AXAPK0 To me, the meaning may be separate---only by a small hair, as there was no significant distinction between the "father in the clouds" example regardless of a message being sent or not---but the premise/set-up is exact enough. I don't have an issue with Disney adopting; Americans "adopt" from Japan's film productions more than often. I just feel skeptical by their, "Nope, didn't see the similarities until production was over. We didn't adopt a thing" or so and so.
@3AXAPK0 I think this may be why I didn't believe the, "it's a coincidence" claim. In my mind, exact plots and "themes" can be the same between any two films [let's recap on every Zombie movie. Urgh]. What I saw between TLK and Kimba was similarity in several "designs," [Polly/Zazu, Dan'l/Rafiki, Kitty/Nala, Claw/Scar, Caesar/Mufasa, Simba/Kimba] similarities that don't come by "coincidences" as opposed to plotlines and thematic fables, which can always be a matter of coincidence with films.
Lets face it, had this been Kimba the white lion the move, it wouldn't had been nearly as idolize as Lion King is today. The art and style would probable make it seem more like a lesser average movie that would have been very forgettable. Lion King on the other hand was a better directed, superior animation and was truly beautifully magnificent especially when 3D animation was taking over at the time. Lion King proves 2D is still good
Kimba was made by Tezuka so that explains its inane wackiness

@Wolfgirl2help Made this a long time ago. Go to kimbawlion. com and read their essay about the whole mess. They explain things better than this short video, and have more reasons to why TLK could be based off kimba. (One reason- all the people who worked on TLK denied knowing anything about kimba until after the movie came out, but their are a lot of examples shown in the essay that shows they in fact DID know about kimba)
and feels that his kinship means he should have the thran, while Claw was just some power hungry freak without a reason, Babboon personalities are different. One is old and wise, the other's slightly insane and creeperish. the Stampede isn't a threat to Kimba, while Simba is nearly trampled; Kimba gets hit with thorns, not the hyena. There's a difference between a parrot and a HornBill, they are two different types of bird. In what movie does the main male character NOT grow up and (cont)
WOAH! Hold UP! Scar pushed MUFASA off of a cliff, NOT simba. Scar had the Hyenas chase simba to kill them. The only time simba goes over a cliff is when he slips, and it's diferent stage of life. Simba doesn't even fall when he's an adult, instead he jumps up and pins Scar down, choaking him until he tells the truth. I've never seen Kimba do that. The reason the two eat bugs is totally different. Scar is the brother of Mufasa (cont)
They got similarities, but all movie do,no?And a buncha the stuff in lion king is stuff like in other Disney movies. And Lion King is supposed to be Hamlet,though...and....For whoever doesn't know,Walt and The Kimba guy(what's his name, again?)Knew each other and both admired each other's work. And the Kimba dude was gonna get permission from Disney to do a Bambi manga, but did Kimba instead. And everyone knows Lion King is inspired by Bambi....sooo...they were both somewhat Bambi inspired,hm?
no, no they didn't, Disney denied of them having any knowledge of Kimba even after release. They claimed this is their original idea and work, which obviously isn't so.
@DSlayerZX You know, technically Disney did come up with the idea. The circle of life fundamental is from Bambi, where his mom and dad dies and he becomes king of the forest. The guy who made Kimba got the license to make a japanese adaption of Bambi. Disney's were the ones that taught him how to make color animation, which made Kimba the first color anime. If it wasn't for Disney, there would not have been Kimba.
@Dattebayo04 the circle of life came from many of other works, not just Bambi. It is also a known fact the artist created Kimba is a big Disney fan and officially announced in many of his work that they were inspired by Disney. However, Disney stole his idea and pretend they never had prior knowledge of it. If the teacher steals his students' work, does not count as stealing?
@DSlayerZX I suppose you're right. However to the contrary, from what I researched; Tezuka had gotten Liscense from Disney himself to adapt Bambi for the Japanese audience. They met at the 1964 World Fair. Disney then taught Tezuka's crew how to make color animation. Well, at least TLK wasn't a bad movie. Turned out to be the most successful animated movie in the world!
@DSlayerZX That's right, it was inspired mostly by Hamlet. :P Seriously, though, who cares if the show inspired them as well? I respect our great animators enough to trust their creative integrity.
I finally got around to finishing watching the anime... wait. I don't think so.
On animecrazy it has 52 episodes, I watched them all (except one on youtube)
It never got past kimbas childhood/adolesence though.
What I'm wondering, is are there more episodes until his death? or does the story only go that far in the manga? Also, if it is in the anime a link would be appreciated, thanks.
@utubewatchero theres a continuation of the kimba series called "Leo the lion" apparently leo is kimba, the reviews on netflix say its a good movie just poor sound quality
Tezuka beautifully tells about the ways of nature, that actually do not have nor need a ‘superior’ being over any particular living species (ie, the fact zebra as a species can stay strong thanks to the lions=neither species is 'superior'), self-changing and sustaining. This is a stark contrast to a common Brit’s atmosphere, of the 'elite' kind: “Put the senses into nature” so learned children then, unfortunately that air is still reverberating.
"Kimba/Leo, the White Lion,” (JUNGURU TAITEI LEO in English) was a TV series over 3 dacades in the U.S. This beautifully haunting literature in manga form, of the heart of nature, deserves all the real recognition and "real" respect. 42 years after his original, Disney has managed to pull in everything, and they still do, by outright denying any plagiarism or even the very ‘knowledge’ of Tezuka Osamu even the Leo/Kimba character!!!: So ‘their monster hit’ comes as the "Lying King'94" in ’92
Again, ‘capturing’ children, conveniently obscuring the real issue of us humankind. the L. K’s systematic ways to occupy your world.
..When in fact, the majority of the roughly 400 animators involved in making the Disney film the Lion King actually grew up with Kimba/Leo, but that all—suddenly got buried. By the boss. Disney for me, Nowe Finny.
What is: true AND MOST AMAZING to me is that a war-experienced Japanese writer and the World-mind-expander TEZUKA Osamu actually foretold in the 1950 original, “Leo,” of what were actually to happen to all animals/nature/resources in AFRICA in the flood of come take the grabs more than 60 years ago, for what was to become the next few ‘darkest’ decades to last in Africa for real, with no mercy in reality. And they are not doing much better. Why?
The problem, as I see it, is not the copied work so much as that Disney denies ever copying anything, and even denies knowing of the existence of Kimba in spite of highly substantial evidence otherwise.
dang it! I skipped the part where you're saying how kimba and them end up eating bugs because I didn't want a spoiler, then at the end with the text of explaining the kimba shows... dang it!
In the movie, when exactly does it show the picture at 2:40 of mufasa standing alone on Pride rock? Im too lazy to look, but is it even in the movie?
@utubewatchero Sorry! But maybe watch Kimba before looking at all the similarities XD The picture with mufasa is at the very beginning when Zazu flies up to him :)
I really loved both kimba and simba. I watched kimba in theaters first and it was wierder when I watched lion king. But being that I was a little kid, I saw that both movies were great and they were BOTH enjoyable. I'm pretty sure disney did copy Kimba. My point is, if they were both movies aiming a good message towards kids what does it matter? I hope a feud isn't created due to that.
@PlayfulWolfPup lol I love both too X3 The real purpose of this video was to show my youtube friends who kimba was and still get it out there that I think TLK took some stuff from Kimba, I still love simba like a crazy person though XD
except when the lion king came to vhs it was over 20 dollars and when the kimba film or episodes came out it was in the 2 dollar bin at walmart. the lion king was also more accurate in the way animals acted and since it was a film for kids it wasnt going to want to deal with poachers.
@seadome13 but now kimba is in a box set for 60$ :'D not to mention the other TV series box sets (if they have any) but its accurate because Disney actually has the money to travel to africa and watch the animals move and stuff XD
um.. um.. oh yah i remember..... copying someone is like a complament like saying that movie was great we should make one like that, so its kinda liek a complament!
@thecommenter18 Kimba is not Disney property ;) I think Disney THOUGHT they had the rights to it, and started making a kimba movie but later found out they didnt have the rights, so they made it the lion king (Disney had the same problem with the Muppets)
i think Kimba was a better role model, he belived in not fighting and lets face it, he was darn cute. where as Simba did do alot of fighting and he wasent as cute, but storys were good, but i think Kimbas was better
some of this may be coincidence and some might not. i think some might have to do with typical archetypal characters like the wise guide and the father's spirit
Disney teaches children to steal others peoples work, and to bully the lesser ones (like they did with the owners of the kimba copyrigth) fuck disney, they do stupid shit anywayz.
Accually Disney was INSPIRED by kimba the white lion and people thought there would be a lawsewt but the directer of kimba the white lion was happy Disney was inspired by it so alls well ends well
@tickycup yeah I love the lion king too (fav disney movie besides the fox and the hound) but I prefer kimba more because it has been more of my childhood then the lion king ever was XP I saw a commercial of the newer kimba series at the end of a Pokemon video. My mom knew who kimba was and bought me a bunch of DVDs :D
Of course The Lion King is a copy of Kimba the white Lion! That doesn't mean i hate the lion king, in fact I only heard about this recently, but like the maker of Kimba said ... Disney has some of the top lawyers in the world and a lot more money than him if it came to a legal battle. it's sad that a company that makes movies with great values and moral lessons is so hypocritical and it does lessen Disney in my eyes as it is a real David and Goliath situation. They really should compensate him
the lion king is better and "kimba" is no good (i speak hebrew) XD מלך האריות מספר-1!!!
ואין אף סרט (או משהוא יפני) שיקח את זה ממנו!XD

i think the lion king is a remake of leo/kimba the white lion and i think disney lied about remaking it so people think it is a orignal idea

hey, it's me again.

42 years after his original, Disney has managed to pull in everything, and they still do, by outright denying any plagiarism or even the very ‘knowledge’ of Tezuka Osamu even the Leo/Kimba character!!!: So ‘their monster hit’ comes as the "Lying King'94" in ’92
lilmopeach 10 months ago
Again, ‘capturing’ children, conveniently obscuring the real issue of us humankind. the L. K’s systematic ways to occupy your world.
..When in fact, the majority of the roughly 400 animators involved in making the Disney film the Lion King actually grew up with Kimba/Leo, but that all—suddenly got buried. By the boss. Disney for me, Nowe Finny.
I used to LOVE Disney the most! But Life evolves.

Why?
lilmopeach 10 months ago
The problem, as I see it, is not the copied work so much as that Disney denies ever copying anything, and even denies knowing of the existence of Kimba in spite of highly substantial evidence otherwise.
drakovolf 11 months ago 3
@drakovolf Exactly XD There is so much proof to show that they in fact DID know about Kimba. lol silly Disney.
KittiesGoneWacko 11 months ago
dang it! I skipped the part where you're saying how kimba and them end up eating bugs because I didn't want a spoiler, then at the end with the text of explaining the kimba shows... dang it!
In the movie, when exactly does it show the picture at 2:40 of mufasa standing alone on Pride rock? Im too lazy to look, but is it even in the movie?
utubewatchero 11 months ago
@utubewatchero Sorry! But maybe watch Kimba before looking at all the similarities XD The picture with mufasa is at the very beginning when Zazu flies up to him :)

I really loved both kimba and simba. I watched kimba in theaters first and it was wierder when I watched lion king. But being that I was a little kid, I saw that both movies were great and they were BOTH enjoyable. I'm pretty sure disney did copy Kimba. My point is, if they were both movies aiming a good message towards kids what does it matter? I hope a feud isn't created due to that.
PlayfulWolfPup 1 year ago
@PlayfulWolfPup lol I love both too X3 The real purpose of this video was to show my youtube friends who kimba was and still get it out there that I think TLK took some stuff from Kimba, I still love simba like a crazy person though XD
KittiesGoneWacko 1 year ago
except when the lion king came to vhs it was over 20 dollars and when the kimba film or episodes came out it was in the 2 dollar bin at walmart. the lion king was also more accurate in the way animals acted and since it was a film for kids it wasnt going to want to deal with poachers.
seadome13 1 year ago
@seadome13 but now kimba is in a box set for 60$ :'D not to mention the other TV series box sets (if they have any) but its accurate because Disney actually has the money to travel to africa and watch the animals move and stuff XD
KittiesGoneWacko 1 year ago
um.. um.. oh yah i remember..... copying someone is like a complament like saying that movie was great we should make one like that, so its kinda liek a complament!
femanodec 1 year ago
but they are both disney property
maybe the lion king was a remake
just like how they keep coming out with new versions of the Karate Kid

@thecommenter18 Kimba is not Disney property ;) I think Disney THOUGHT they had the rights to it, and started making a kimba movie but later found out they didnt have the rights, so they made it the lion king (Disney had the same problem with the Muppets)

i think Kimba was a better role model, he belived in not fighting and lets face it, he was darn cute. where as Simba did do alot of fighting and he wasent as cute, but storys were good, but i think Kimbas was better

@DJTurkash lol yeah I cant hate the lion king. Its just such an adorable and amazing movie X3
KittiesGoneWacko 1 year ago
I prefer Kimba for the same reasons... it is more meaningful and special. But at the same time I do love the lion king.
WarriorCatTigerLuver 1 year ago
some of this may be coincidence and some might not. i think some might have to do with typical archetypal characters like the wise guide and the father's spirit
koppshopp 1 year ago
Disney teaches children to steal others peoples work, and to bully the lesser ones (like they did with the owners of the kimba copyrigth) fuck disney, they do stupid shit anywayz.
soparamens 1 year ago
Accually Disney was INSPIRED by kimba the white lion and people thought there would be a lawsewt but the directer of kimba the white lion was happy Disney was inspired by it so alls well ends well

I love lion king. I'm a fan of it all the way.
Disney sucks for not even compensating the creators of kimba, but i still prefer the lion king. it's epic.
Who can say no to timon and pumba?
tickycup 1 year ago
@tickycup yeah I love the lion king too (fav disney movie besides the fox and the hound) but I prefer kimba more because it has been more of my childhood then the lion king ever was XP I saw a commercial of the newer kimba series at the end of a Pokemon video. My mom knew who kimba was and bought me a bunch of DVDs :D
KittiesGoneWacko 1 year ago
@tickycup You know Disney got sued for stealing a song for lion king too. *Sigh* why Disney...

@snailsth102 lol only im not angry at simba or going to rant about it i just want people to know who kimba is, and get this message to people.
KittiesGoneWacko 1 year ago
@KittiesGoneWacko Either way I'v never seen kimba before but it looks cute.
And lion king is probably one of my most favorite movies. (also the first movie I'v seen in theatres)
So I'm not really bothered by it. lol
snailsth102 1 year ago
Of course The Lion King is a copy of Kimba the white Lion! That doesn't mean i hate the lion king, in fact I only heard about this recently, but like the maker of Kimba said ... Disney has some of the top lawyers in the world and a lot more money than him if it came to a legal battle. it's sad that a company that makes movies with great values and moral lessons is so hypocritical and it does lessen Disney in my eyes as it is a real David and Goliath situation. They really should compensate him
1freshjandal 1 year ago
Maybe! I've Thought About This Before...
"Simba" Means Lion. Perhaps It Was Just Their Habit of Picking African Names.
But The Other Similarities...Just....WOW.
EmpressOfNightfall 1 year ago
@EmpressOfNightfall yeah I think Simba and Kimba's rhyming thing may be just a coincidence, but it sure adds to the whole thing.
