I think the whole "short hair" thing comes from people not wanting to be the exact same as they were 20 years ago. I personally don't care how they look. They're not trying to be any "dress" style. If they were, bands like Necrophagist, Opeth, Sadist, etc. would still have long greasy hair and wear shirts with no sleeves and tight ass pants(tighter than they wear nowadays). Dress style means nothing as long as the music is good.
