Castlevania (Nintendo 64) - First Impressions

Guys Give the Castlevania games on N64 a break...For us who really love Castlevania The N64 once where pretty good ....Just kinda unusual jumpin to 3d and all ^^ just leave them alone i think they where great :D

it was one of my favorite games back in 1999 still dont get why people say it suck they propably never play it.

You remember when 64 came out, everything made the jump to 3d, that was their whole big deal about the system in general!

This game is probably in my list of top 10 worst games ever! I think it's atrocious. I've always liked atarix's video layouts. You should change it up a little bit though. At least a font or something. lol

Castlevania IV is my fave by far so this let me down, but actually I do enjoy it looking back at it. It seems like it appears more Castlevania than the new 3D one coming out! That at the moment looks like it could be anything, not just Castlevania.

The new one looks alot like God of War, to the point that to me it seems like a tremendous ripoff. Not that I think Konami can't work with that formula, there are just too many GoW ripoffs coming out.

I agree. The trailer for it is "movie" like, and has famous voice actors. To me, that isn't really Castlevania. Visually looks good, and good, but it doesn't strike me as Castlevania, especially the large trolls. People moan about castlevania 64, but I think it feels atmospherically like castlevania. Not sure the new one really will. Still, I'll be open minded until then...Look out for Castlevania Rebirth on Wiiware at some point..should be good!

Hahah yeah I actually didn't realize until I put it up this is either the same font or real damn close. I haven't played long enough to place it as a worst, but why does it get so much flack? On the wiki it says it received positive reviews when it came out.

actually is not the best castlevania game ever but try the sequel on the n64

I got this game recently too!! I still have yet to play it. Watching your review I remember renting this game a long time ago. Awesome review man!!! The 2 BEST games on the N64 are the 2 Zeldas imo.

Looks kinda intresting but i don't seem to be able to get past castlevania 4 on the snes, every other castlevania game never seems as good to me, i love the snes castlevania 4 and all the other castlevania games seem to arcadey which is an odd critisism i know but hey thats what i think anyway lol :)

In my opinion it isn't the same, it's very easy to beat the enemies and your main danger is that damn falling back from annoying enemies, since he jumps a few feet back when he gets hit. I get tired of falling into pit after pit. I can excuse it in NEs but by SNES they should have figured it out. I'm gonna review Castlevania on Genesis soon, and you'll see the difference.

lol i see your point there tbh steve as ive had plenty of times where you jump and he stutters against a rock and falls lol but its the only complaint i have for castlevania 4 :)

Personally I think 4 is the best, a lot better than the prevous 3.

oh and i used to love donkey kong for the 64 and there was some hot wheels game that was fun. but my favorite was the star wars pod racing thing haha

i love Castlevania. it's probly my favorite series... i'm so exxcited for the new one haha. i wish they'd give me a damn release date so i can pre order a special edition!!! nice review though dude
