just a thought would you fly a kite in weather that looked liike possible lightning? (unless conducting scientific experiment) and if that was a kite at say 800/900ft elevation (educated guess at cloud layer) that kite would be huge, the kite strings would have to be that big you'd see them too

It's a ballon/parachute. It looks like an X-47 Pegasus but then at about 0:19 it turns and you can see the dimensions to it's geometry reveal it's something inflated.

Think before you write things like that - it could not be a kite; I have read other reports saying it was a windless day, and the thing vanished into the clouds. It is a solar balloon - see some of my videos, I release a lot of these with "if found" tags. They can fly over 500 miles in a day.

There is obviously a breeze, but it does not look strong enough to fly a kite (yes I DO have experience with both kites and solar balloons, and candle balloons, and RC planes and helicopters, so I know how things fly). Once again, that does not fly like a kite and most likely is not one.

Also if you watch the object in the beginning of the video, right after the zoom-in, you can see it rotate to show multiple dimensions - it does not look like either a regular or a 3d kite. It seems to be some strange-shaped balloon with multiple triangular surfaces (I thought a tetrahedron at first but it appears to be different, with more sides than 4).

And you made that determination by watching the video and not actually being there? There are different wind speeds at different altitudes, just because it's not windy at ground level doesn't mean it's not windy a few hundred feet up. If you do in fact really fly kites you should know you can keep them very steady depending on tensile strength and wind speed. Think before you post please.

OK so I do stand corrected about the wind. I was aware of differing wind speed at different altitudes, in fact, that's often how I keep a kite in the air when I do fly one.

However I'm still more certain that the mysterious object is a solar balloon rather than a kite.
