I am quite knowledgeable, thank you. I do not mean baroque music is vulgar, I meant Bartoli's interpretation is, the hysterical yodelling and facial expressions. I have seen her in concert and she is always like this, big dres, big hair, big bust, show-off machine-gun coloratura. One must mature as a singer, learn that less is more, take on new roles, vocal and stage risks. Cecilia is in her mid-40s but hardly ever does stage roles (voice too small), NOT a serious operatic artist.

Most of the very best people have come in for a foul amount of criticism from people who really ought to be handing out the programmes or turning the pages for the pianist. I'm guilty of it myself - I can never quite see why Callas is worshipped quite so assiduously. :-(
