  • Holy shit!!!!!!!!!!

  • im sure theres another version of this out because theres a link opposite that is similar but to be honest i prefer that one.

  • 37 singers dislike this song

  • Bucketheads technique? you must be kiddin!!! paul taught BUckethead!!!

  • @wangyuuPGM I should've hinted at the sarcasm involved.

  • @ 0:22-0:35 is very reminiscent of Buckethead's technique.

  • I believe this was called Metal Dog. Oh and 2:01 Comfortably Numb!!!! haha

  • ofcourse Paul is awesome..one of the best but EDDIE VAN HALEN IS LEGEND....

  • He looks so much more like Yngwie here than now xD Notice what he does at 2:28 :P And the hair xD Also pay attention to the way he moves his head at 2:36 :P

  • He starts, He sleeps through 0:49 to 1:18...then hes like "Oh im playing the guitar! haha dint realise..here we go "

  • Comment removed

  • He is using BIG MUFF?.... brb music store -->

  • It really isn't as difficult as it looks.

  • so which pixel is paul....

  • The best shredders: Eddie; he started the ball rolling, Paul Gilbert, Jason Becker and Steve Vai.

    Not in that order exactly

  • Pual Gilbert > Eddie Vanhalen

  • nah I can play this too...

    Not even in my dreams!!!!!

  • 1:57-1:58 sounds exactly like rob marcello old school right before the solo

  • Amazing

  • what is the part 00:15??? PLZZZ. Answer!!!

  • @ritaldolagos a combo of his two main licks

    /watch?v=Xrh6jgWLB3I

    /watch?v=oKvIAuXMl7U

    (except without the string skipping)

  • 0:05 Ohh ohhhh he sleeps with a dog. So this is definitely Metal Dog

  • @rikardocarvalho He's in a swimming pool

  • Señor Pablo!!!

  • @edgarricci No sería Pablo, por que "Barney" es el similar en inglés, en fin, sería literalmente "Paulo".

  • :OOO

  • Check out you with your tassly guitar Paulo :P

  • damn.

  • there are so many sick guitarists out there .. everyone of them has their own style which makes it harder to compare but paul is def one of the best along with petrucci , satriani , malmsteen , chris broderic , eric johnson , vai etc but all i know is that i wish i had the time to get good like them .. i dont have enough time in 2 lifetimes to compare! so im gonna start my 5 month old son as soon as he learns his abcs so he can be a prodigy lol!! rock out with ur cock out

  • @keggerdaman U Japanese?

  • @keggerdaman Do not project your wishes on your child's place, better let him find out what he really wants, and if he really wants to be a super fast guitarist, so be it, otherwise it is not ;)

  • That's not a separate recording of himself. That's him. Playing both parts. At the same time. While doing your mom.

  • @22yuval malmsteen try to be a god... paul is just paul... and he dont want to be anyone else... but he is the best... not better than malmsteen or better than others... he's just the best :D

  • Yngwie Malmsteen´s son

  • those 33 peoples have Technical Difficulties

  • Hey man, this piece it is actually titled "Metal Dog". Technical Difficulties is different take on this.

  • @DazedAndConfused1974 agreed....technical difficulties is longer plus it has this kinda bluesy guitar break after the intro main riff....

  • @DazedAndConfused1974 I KNEW IT! Thanks for confirming what i've always thought but never knew!

  • @brando18guitarplyr No problem man. Unfortunately I don't think you can find this version anywhere else besides youtube :(. I would love to actually have the mp3 or an actual sort of medium with it on it.

  • @DazedAndConfused1974 of Metal Dog? or this Youtube version?

  • God i don't practice guitar enough...

  • damn WHY DIDn'T YOUTUBE INCLUDE A LOVE BUTTON FOR THIS SONG!!!!!!

  • 32 guys are trying to learn this song since last decade.

  • Sounds Like Castlevania

  • sometimes you can get so many notes flying around its hard to appreciate the various techniques he uses in both hands to add flavor, and if you have ever listened to him give a lesson ( which he is also famous for at least in the guitar world) you can't help but be taken in by his unbridled passion for what he does. A humble cool dude too.

  • he really reminds me of some one haha!!

  • I love the solo. It's like heavy version to Comfortably Numb.

  • @Rockshift999 Same progression indeed, I was about to post the same comment.

  • @zakbot9 lol.

  • @c4r50n1 You are being ignorant. Ask a person on the street who Paul Gilbert is. THEY WON'T KNOW!!!! EVEN if they do, bet you MONEY they can't name either Mr. Big OR Racer X....or any of the guys he played with. He is AMAZING and UNDERRATED in the MAINSTREAM and you will never be right to argue me.

  • Those are the changes from Comfortably Numb by Pink Floyd

  • Hehe i have this DVD!

  • Okay, I was gonna ignore this but people are making me mad. Ask many people around the world, the normal fan of music, they will name Jimmy Hendrix, Eddie Van Halen, and Angus Young, etc etc. People are undereducated when it comes to rock music. They don't realize the real talent that is paul gilert. I KNOW he's freaking amazing. It's just the stupid undereducated people that I mean. So don't freak out lol

  • @AlexPicchietti That's because guitarists like Jimi Hendrix and Angus Young are far more appealing to the general public dude; Paul Gilbert is popular amongst guitarists because he's very skilled technically, but his music is barely listen-able to anyone who doesn't play guitar. He's prestigious in his field, which was a choice he made by writing the music that he does; he is in no way underrated amongst those interested in technical guitar playing.

  • @DaveSustaine Well, I suppose PG is in no way the Eagles. By which I mean that the Eagles are much more 'family-friendly' if you will, as far as music goes. Still, you have to agree - the man has an amazing vibrato.

  • lol the guitar with courtain stuff.

  • great instrumental piece!

    Paul totaly rocks...

  • I only like Paul Gilbert when he has long hair

  • Thats Dardy

  • This guy makes me wanna practise all day :)

  • what i wouldn't give to see him play live...

  • @1beowulf12 he is currently touring for his new album Fuzz Universe!

  • Simply bad ass! Paul Gilbert rocks!

  • Holy crap!!!! Never realized that the chord progression to Comfortably Numb is in there! Thanks to the folks that mentioned it.

  • A truly masterpiece, but in my opinion - not even close to the original solo in Comfortably Numb by Pink Floyd.

  • @Gothxha It's much harder then Comfortably numb, but I like the amount of feel that was put into comfortably numb.

  • @UrSkulled its still really hard to put enough feeling that's required into the comfortably numb solo, especially if you don't know how, like most shredder guitarist now-a-days who just sweep all the time.

  • @Rockerboy3872 Thankfully, Paul isn't one of them ;D

  • @UrSkulled Yeah that's why he is a God among men. \m/ XD

  • @Rockerboy3872 i hate when a guitarist sweep more than 5-15 seconds

  • this is metal dog not technical difficulties

  • @doritossnack Is Metal Dog recorded on any of PG, or RX album with that name? Or did it just become Technical Difficulties then? If is that way, it was maybe like what Metallica did with a song called Death is not the end.

  • amazing song!

  • professor GUITAR INSTITUTE OF TECHNOLOGY

  • professor GUITAR INSTITUTE OF TECHNOLOGY

  • i wish the actual recorded verison of Technical Difficulties had that sweet ass riff he does in this video

  • holy christ!

  • from 2 min on this song destroys everything......ever

  • You cunt's are so gay. Why the fuck whenever i feel to search the tube, and comment on amazing musical talent. Some Abominable FUCKWIT brings up that little pre-pubesant little cunt. Seriously we all know his eternal doom will eventually come by acid form, But just the mere mention of the name infuriates.

  • Okay... So your a Justin Bieber fan...??

  • aaah.... so what! He is still not worth a shit! Am I right or am I right!?? :S

  • @havjac95 You're wrong.

  • Justin Bieber aint worth Paul's left foot!!

  • @havjac95 justin bieber isn't a guitar player, and doesn't claim to be.

  • @emixolydian your point is?

  • this is metal dog...the new one he remade is technical difficulties lol

  • This makes me want to climb to a high place and beat the fuck out of someone.

  • In almost every video I've seen of technical difficulties, Paul Gilbert never plays the original solo

  • Wtf this is metal dog haha, anyways, this is still fucking awesome.

  • Comment removed

  • @drook666 the intro to technical difficulties is in it... idk but that other video is wrong about "metal dog" he even says it's called "technical difficulties" in another vid

  • Fucking Genius.

  • Buckethead

  • iBanez have the best guitar players in the world.. Satch , Vai, Gilbert ? What do you want more ?

  • @Mofozofo and they really owe their entire company today to those guys haha for a while all their commercial guitars were complete crap except for those pro models they made....now they actually have some decent ones...own a s-series myself

  • @biglu30 Mhhmm, and myself I own a RG, pretty gangsta I could say.

  • guitar with hair.... look uber badass, but ugly

  • Paul gilbert is just one cool mother fucker lol

  • Ya no I have never heard of this guy but he's one of the best I've seen

  • Would you guys stop whining about the backing track in the solo being Comfortably Numb's chord progression? It's not exactly the same and it sounds good as hell.

    Get over it :)

  • this is actually called Scratchin the Dog and yes the guitar is lame but he's paul gilbert

  • @TopsyKretz420 it used to be called Metal Dog. Now its Technical Difficulties...

  • all i have to say is that furry guitar is lame and very 80s...but yes paul melts face

  • come rovinare un classico.... Paul Gilbert fa ridere i polli

  • Easily Easily Easily the most underrated guitarist. EVER. No argument. NONE.

  • @AlexPicchietti hes not underrated because nobody underrates him lol

  • @AnOddMusician That's pretty stupid do say because not knowing who he is underrates him.

  • @AlexPicchietti hes not underrated lol, he is a legend, and he is in guitar world almost every month. so... nobody is underrating him.

  • @AlexPicchietti what the fuck man? since when was paul underrated? you live under a rock

  • @AlexPicchietti Underrated? wtf are you talking about everyone knows and loves Paul. He's right where he should be, everybody respects him for his playing.

  • @AlexPicchietti Not at all.

  • i hear a Pink Floyd background to this ;)

  • has he ever admited to using the chords from comfortably numb? not slamming him in any way, just curiouse?? paul is my hero!!

  • @deadandwell611 G->F#->E is a very common chord change man. lots of players use it

  • Exactly. With so many songs out there, and only a certain number of chords that are commonly played, chord progressions are going to be similar. There's a ton of songs that go G, C, D or E, F#m, A or really just put any few chords together and it's been done.

  • I'm sorry but isnt the same this chord progression is absolutely copiated of confortably numb

  • @8werty8

You are kidding? you want me to show you another 10,000 that sound like CN? I can

by the way, he was about 20 when he wrote this.

  • @Savioursoul205 ¬¬ i like it, but the chords progression is the same, or not?

  • @Savioursoul205 It is very very close if not the same yes I agree, but sometimes you write a song and dont even realize it. He may still not know. It is killer though.

  • @deadandwell611 i think so too those are definetely the B minor E G chords used the same way in CN

  • When i listen to Paul, specially now,i am getting to wonder:''is he human?''.His playing is almost unreal, everything perfect no mistakes, and same way even with no Distortion.OMG.Not to mention in lives he plays faster than record

  • @Kabamaru2000 same with every pro metal band, bro

  • Lol. I've honestly never heard the guy mess-up. I'm sure he has but I've never heard it. I actually call PG "The Cyborg".

  • Yea it is metal dog, then they changed the name to technical difficulties and changed the solo's, Paul said that in a interview

  • But, then again, it's a new song.

    There are two different songs:

Metal Dog, the first one (in this video)

And Technical Difficulties, which has a different en half.

  • This is Metal dog no technical difficulties.

  • Technical Difficulties (Racer X) ;)

  • No man, really is metal dog!!1 this isn't technical difficulties, metal dog is like a pre-version o f Technical dificulties.

  • @MitchTheGreat256 edgarrg94 is right. it is metal dog. type it in.

  • My brain melted.

  • I wish the riff from 1:50-2 was in the actual version, it's so much cooler.

  • The backing track, IS Comfortably Numb by Pink Floyd...

  • for the solo it is the same chords at PF (backing track) the rest aint

  • I know, and love Paul Gilbert for making this song, Metal Dog.

  • @Soulfulshreddify Same rhythm, not the same chords. Comfortably Numb is B, A, G, F#, E, B. Technical Difficulties (during the solo) is E, D, C, B, A, G, E. So yeah, its NOT Comfortably Numb by Pink Floyd. Get your shit right.

  • @jimi1180

Zup with being a douchebag? I'm not saying it is CN, I'm saying it IS... big difference. It's about the same, except like minor thrid away or somehting, maybe a fifth.

  • @jimi1180 lol

  • @jimi1180 Amen. People who have no ear shouldn't even post. I played The Beatles intro to Twist and Shout once at a party, and it was followed by everybody singing La Bamba?! I was like, hey people, this is Twist and Shout, here's La Bamba and they all went...oh........... It can be quite frustrating.

  • @Soulfulshreddify Yeah, I thought so.....

  • @Soulfulshreddify It definitely is VERY similar. Maybe the same chord progression but this is DEF e minor and Comfortably Numb is DEF b minor!

  • @Soulfulshreddify no it IS not. bolth songs are in two disserent keys. if he played that to the backing track for comfatorably numb it would sound horrible

  • @synysterfan101 I don't inquire that it IS Comfortably Numb..... The comment was meant to be, and IS meant to be:

"The backing is just the same as Comfortably Numb, just in a different key!" but you YouTube trolls keep on trolling....

  • @Soulfulshreddify In another key, yes.

  • @Soulfulshreddify Jesus Christ I've been racking my brain for the last few days trying to figure out where that rhythm is from. I feel empty now that I know. lol

  • @HammeredAndHorny Haha :D

  • @Soulfulshreddify Only in the solo section

  • @Soulfulshreddify

the i-VII-VI-v progression is one of the most common solo progressions in rock

  • @MarcusFenixtheMan Only that Paul nails the best solo possible for that progression

  • @Soulfulshreddify si. opino lo mismo...

  • @Soulfulshreddify I NEVER NOTICED IT IN 20YEARS HEARING THIS

  • @Soulfulshreddify but i seem that it's kind of tribute

  • this is indeed Metal Dog

  • this isnt technical difficulties!!! its metal dog...but whatever!!! love it!!

  • What? Yes it is!

  • isnt techincal different after the run after the riff?? i thought metal dog and technical had the same main riff but was totally different after....cuz the other technical vid on youtube is diff.....

  • well, now I'm curious! I'll be checking this out and getting back to you.

  • ok this is the vid im talking about... /watch?v=ES1RypBww_g

and this one is metal dog.

    /watch?v=T2zXMR2yc8E

same main riff but after that it totally different

  • OK, so apparently "Metal Dog" was his early version of the song, only to be redone by Racer X, including a name change to Technical Difficulties. So, same main riff, different solo section, etc.

  • @PerpetualBurn17 What are you talking about.. it is lol

  • 2:10 haha i love that guitar its PIMPIN SINCE PIMPIN SINCE BEEN PIMPIN SINCE PIMPIN

  • awesome

  • I've got to say that the tassles on the neck of his guitar are totally bad ass.

  • I would think that the similarities in the rhythm section of the solo is a tribute to Pink Floyd and not an attempt at originality.

  • Come on guys Pink Floyd doesnt have any rights over these chords or the sequence unless someone plays Comfortably Numb , i think Mr Gilbert has made it sound 100.00.000.000.000 times better than comfortably numb . However there truth is "

youliveinabucket " really sucks hard for passing such a comment.

Gbell3587 i totally agree with you.

  • Progression is comfortably numb. But the key is different.

  • @youliveinabucket I love your respect for other musicians.........i think perhaps your name is describing yourself. Dave Gilmour is a very good and very respected guitarist.

  • Hey, it is Comfortably Numb.

I guess if you're going to copy someone it might as well be the best.
