Main purpose of federal government involvement in medical care should be to reward the best performers and those who keep people healthy. A award system for "good care" would be the best federal intervention.

When you try to help people and do the right thing the rich and powerful come after you. Its time for the working class to stand up for what is right. Great discussion and nice collection of stakeholders. How DO you get rid of the middlemen/HMO-gatekeepers and disband the massive infrastructure? We lived in France for a year, had a great GP, had housecalls! and at one point my daughter had emergency surgery - it was SO straightforward and sensible. Having experienced their socialized system I became overtly outraged at our American "system". American health care is a massive scam.
