  • Can this learn codes? I have components that aren't in the databases of other universal remotes so I've always had to search for the most similar models (wasting LOTS of time), and functions were always missing. Even my Logitech, which has an extensive updated online database, can't find them.

For example: Pioneer 640HS DVD recorder, Pioneer 510HS DVD recorder, Pioneer 810HS DVR, Western Digital Media Player.

Can this learn codes? Is the database/firmware updatable? Thanks for any help.

  • @lgbtTV4 This cannot learn codes nor be updated through a database/firmware, it does however have a code search in case the series of codes that you enter does not control the device. For more info, check the product link i put in the description of this video.

  • @DJMonger1 Many thanks for the quick and honest reply. I'll probably end up getting one for my parents, who don't have advanced needs.

    PS - great pants!

  • @lgbtTV4 This video was done shortly after the bears loss, those pants were supposed to help them win! Now they will sit in my drawer until next season :(

  • Since the download service no longer works, does the LCD display do anything? i.e. does it show codes, what device is selected, instructions, macro steps, etc?

If the LCD display does nothing, can we turn it off to save energy? I've never seen another remote that needs 4AAs besides my Logitech, which has a functional backlit display. All my other remotes use 2 AAs.

    Thanks for any help.

  • @lgbtTV4 It just displays 'download guide', doesn't display anything else. you may be able to turn it off, i know you can change the amount of time the light stays on when you hit the light button. However it doesn't stay lit up or anything normally, it just shows download guide in Analog characters. 4 AA's will just make the remote last longer.

  • thanks - pretty informative.

  • @syw3 your welcome :)

  • thanks - pretty informative.

  • Seems like a cool remote, video seems like those old 80s style instruction videos though lol very stiff sitting there, but still good video cause I was wondering if I should buy one or not. I'm guessing the other people also saw it on ebay for $8 lol

  • @Haeinscute , my first Video, we actually used my Evo 4G phone and had to put in a bunch of lighting (non-professional). It will be a lot better for our next review, thanks for the comments!

  • Great video! Need to get one.

  • DJMonger1 does it again!

  • Just bought one.
