  • I think almost any lime green paint may work pretty well- we don't wear that color typically and it's not skin tone.

  • @SteveHovland Be sure to use lots of light for maximum effect in editing. Thanks.

  • I can testify..Dollar General has the gift paper for a buck a roll..going to try and figure out how to use it..LOL..I bought Magix edit pro 16 and afraid to open it..tried the demo so I know it will work on my cpu.It is intimidating though..very confusing, keep thinking I might find a real simple one besides Windows Movie maker but Magix has a lot to offer

  • reckon some places raise the price because of the demand of "green"? haha..only in America..nice video btw :)

  • @OnlyTheScriptures Maybe. It is pretty cheap if you can find it for $1 per roll. Thanks.

  • These are great tips! I need to try some of this. Poster board option looked like it worked really well.

  • Thanks, Adam. I have learned it is possible to purchase poster board for $1 at Dollar Tree. Maybe 99 Cent Store has it too.

  • Hey Tom! I see you have gotten yourself a new camera! :) thanks for the low cost tip for greenscreening thats a very genious way of getting past a few hundred dollars for proffessional greenscreens

  • Thanks. I actually have a big expensive green screen in a storage building on one of my properties but I need good weather to run the electricity to it and we have had storms recently. Also it is so big I can't just use it in a house without clearing out a big space. This gift wrap works well enough for most of what I will be doing. I really like your movies.

  • @Featureman thanks my friend. :) I really like yours aswell I love how your always helping other people on your videos. you are great!

  • Now,that hole in the head was awesome. You know how much I've been struggling to get green screen right, but this video kinda helped me a lot. Thanks for putting this up,Tom.

Man,that hole in the head was awesome.

    Alex.

  • The hole in he head is easy. I would recommend putting the green circle under a flesh colored cover that has a separate tape holding it in place you get shot and grab the flesh colored cover pulling it off and the green is under it. You could have red around it to look like blood. Whatever background you are in front of you do a duplicate video of that without you in the picture for the background under the greenscreen and you have a hole in your head. Thanks.

  • thanks for the review. just the other day i picked up the same gift wrap and i thought to myself hmm is this green too bright? so i ended up putting it back but will go try it out once again :D

  • I was surprised it worked so well. Thanks. Be careful lighting it from one side so the light does not reflect like a mirror into the camera lens. Thanks.

  • Clever. What would we do without the dollar stores? My favorite place to shop.

  • Thanks. I should have bought stock in their store or the gift wrap company.

  • thanks! Maybe you can tell me why. When I use my chromakey/greenscreen, (when I look at the finished video) I see a fuzzy interference looking mess in the screen area. the only way I can compare it is, It looks like when you are watching tv and someone turns a hairdryer on. I use pinacle studio 11.

  • If you use lots of light all over the greenscreen plus plenty of light on the foreground subject it should work. The tweaking can take time. I am not familiar with Pinnacle. I would guess someone here at YouTube has a tutorial about Pinnacle. I did not really work hard on this video greenscreen effect. It could be better. Lighting is incredibly important. Thanks.

  • I always like how resourceful you are, Tom. You get the job done. Nice work.

  • Thanks, Andy. I like your green screen work. Your movies are very fun to watch.

  • lol random EXPLOSION

  • Yep. The big boom keeps the bad drivers away. Thanks.

  • Fantastic, Tom. This is the best greenscreen suggestion I've seen.

  • Thanks, Liz.

  • wow Tom, I love this idea. I actually have a 10x12 foot green screen with tripods and clips & such, but it's such a pain to set up. then when you DO set it up, it's really hard to get the wrinkles out of it. poster board is sturdy enough that it doesn't wrinkle easily like a muslin green screen does. & gift wrap would be great as well.

  • I have one of those expensive big setups at my other house but it is in a storage building. I can use it when the weather is good but it is too big to take into my crowded rooms. This way I can actually do the green screen without the big fuss. Thanks.

  • Hey Tom! Very nice video! Great tips! =)

    Thumbs up! =)

    Hugs

  • Thanks, Raffa. Hugs for you.

  • That's great. I was doing a video with someone for a music video and we used a green sheet for the effect not the other ones mentioned on the video. I suppose the one I was using is more professional and special for the effect. Green screens can really fool yeah. It shows as if you were actually at that place but no. It's brilliant to have.

  • Yes the greenscreen is probably the most versatile special effect. It was used in many movies and now it can be done with low cost home video editors. A green sheet would work well if it is the right shade and well lit. It definitely would work well for music videos. Thanks.

  • When I bought some greenscreen muslin off of e-bay I later learned it's way too dark and the effect doesn't really work that well.

  • I guess it is luminance. An odd thing about the gift wrap; I first bought a roll of light blue to do bluescreen. The blue gift wrap photographs as green and I found I could do greenscreen with the blue. I did go back and buy some green rolls also but it seems to be the shade of green or blue that is important as well as the lighting. Thanks.

  • The lighting is the hardest part to get. The greenscreen has to be very well lit behind the actor and the actor needs a separate lighting. Thanks.

  • Thanks. Ed Wood would have been a great YouTuber. That basic trick has lots of potential such as using a burning beard or mustache or almost anything.
