The scientific name is climate change, and the reason we are getting more snow than ever is because the ice caps are melting, bringing colder water down to britain which is interupting the north atlantic drift which gives us warmer weather. So yes this is a result of 'global warming'

tthe reason people find it so hard to drive is because we dont have this weather very often so people arent used to driving in these conditions, i live in Jersey in the Channel Islands which for the people who dont know where that is its south of england near france and we have had a few inches of snow and its caused major disruption because we rarely get more than a cm of snow.

I'm quite sick of the snow now I wanna be at college doing preforming arts I was suppose to be back in Tuesday but snow had to do this the wrong timeit the longest time I ever been off in Christmas holidays for 3 weeks :(

This isnt much snow, this is just a little more than a normal snowfall in my country. I have been seeing reports from areas in Britain and i find it funny how terrible British people are in snow and how they cant do anything and cant go nowhere in their cars in the snow. There would be no problems in my country if this kind of snow would come, maybe some flight canceled but not mayjor problems. From my standpoint this is funny

I live in Scotland, have 9" outside and completely agree with you.

My car has a shovel in the boot, half decent tyres and I'm coping fine.

For my elderly family I'm doing a little extra running about but isn't that what we should be doing.

We're turning into a bunch of moaning individuals!!!

I'm looking forward to getting a chance to snowboard in the next couple of weeks :-)

you may live in a country where it snows alot but over herer not alot of peoplke are acustomed to the snowy conditions,and probaly unlike the people from your country there isnt alot of people who have 4x4s over here

Argh im sick of this kinda crap that we have to put up with from people who are not going through what we are. the fact is its really hard to drive on a sheet on ice which is because we're such a HILLY country :( and yeah we're not used to it is all...

@ShyGuy19898 you just need the correct tyres, then you will be fine on the ice and driving on your hilly country wont be a problem. Nail tyres should do it , or some all seasons tyres.

its mostly cos alot of people have a driving license and thats for getting to work , they dont take up offroading or extreme racing so they have no skills for this, my sister drives a 6.4 jeep but has been off work and wont risk going out as she doesnt know anything about its 4x4 capabilities those that know cars will stick the right tyres on or chain kits and be out there rallying but is only a minority

@electrickwolf it propably isnt a habit in your country, but in my country everyone is supposed to put on nail tyres for the colder months if it freezes. it snowed for the first time this winter like a week ago, then they came in handy.

@machoTit yes i live in Iceland, but we have had a much better winter than you guys, it has only snowed once this winter in the capital, and that was in the end of december( that snow is gone now ) , + a couple of freezes. The name of the country is overrated, some people (not saying you) maybe think that we have snow and ice 6 months a year but that is far off. We have about the same weather as in England, average temperature here is about 2 - 3°c lower than in Brittain during the winter

@SonicGeneration No it doesnt mean anything to me because this isnt a heavy snowfall, this wouldnt be called much where i live (not saying that it snows alot where i live), this is just a little above average maybe. I just feel it funny how everything becomes impossible when a little snowfall comes, schools closing, no work. I think this is more what we will be seeing in the future both in europe and in the US because of global warming, that this will be more common.

we had a bit before christmas which lasted about 2 hours then turned to ice and slush making getting anywhere a nightmare.

this time around we got snow for about a day then it stopped, and now its frozen and again getting anywhere is once again, a nightmare.
