  • Soo I am guessing u do skate well maybe make some trick tips and stuff like that :)

  • @skateboardtech wat is that supposed to mean

  • Also will you be testing out diff shoes I.e. cup sole and vulcanized to see if there's a major difference in grip

  • @GEEderMexikaner I won't be doing that for a long while. I'm not too sure that many people pay attention to it. Skaters think too much about grip tape than shoe soles. But there are people who are into soles. People mainly pick shoes for the brand or the looks over functionality. A sole can have an effect on trick performance, but I don't think it's too crucial. Longboarders and vert skaters are probably more picky than street skaters.

  • Have you heard of the SOTASKATE . Com GRIPTAPE it says it won't eat up your shoes but still gives good grip for tricks you could test that too

  • @GEEderMexikaner I have heard of it. I think this kind of thing has come out before. I think it might be neoprene rubber. I am going to get some but it's not a big enough product to do a video about it, or include it in my grip tape video (coming soon).

  • Do u actually skate

  • @DCproductions101 Obviously you're not a golfer.

  • also wen u balance it it makes the board even heavier so weighs it down equals not as high tricks and not good flicks

  • @TheBruinspride123 Acutally it's the opposite. Your flips are better. The added weight is so minimal you won't notice. Remember when everyone rode 7.6 or 7.75 (or are you too young)? Now everyone rides 8 or 8.25. That is a hell of a lot more weight difference. Plus different wheel sizes and truck brands all have different weights. So, you have no argument.

  • this is some serious OCD shit man. lol. nice video, but im speechless. wow dude. wow.

  • @ClatteredTorso Yeah it's not for everyone. I was shown this by the guy who taught Rodney Mullen how to do it. Thought it would be a cool video.

  • @skateboardtech i thought andrew reynolds had madness. this is something else man. lol

  • LOL YOU LEFT THE QUATERS

  • All that then after 1 grind its unbalanced again

  • 5:16 ypu can play eith nuts

  • Does this dramatically improve your skateboarding?

  • @294ongaurd Well it can and it can't. This is more for advanced who know how a board should flip, and they can flip consistently. They can tell the difference in how the board flips better. If you are not that good of a skater you won't notice much change at all because you don't flip consistently. What this does is but all the flipping on the skaters shoulders bcuz it takes the blame off the board. It takes a lot of tries to land a trick, this makes it easier. Again it also depends on skill.

  • @skateboardtech so what you are saying is it just mentally makes a skater think that it is not their board's fault, but their own? and that it depends on the skill level and how consistent a skater flips their board?

  • Im so stoned i cant believe i watched this

  • 0:26 lol

  • And then all that hard work is fucked up after ur tail starts to wear away

  • @1iLoveHaters1 how long does it take for a tail to wear away? It takes quite a while. So, a tail wearing down will slowly make a board unbalanced again. Correctly the wear of the tail is simple to do.

  • @1iLoveHaters1 or it breaks.

  • Tom DeLonge? anyone?

  • never even thought of my board being unbalanced haha, but idk if im gonna go through all of this just to fix something i never noticed

  • @stephenmaloneskates If you are pretty good, then you'll notice how your board wasn't flipping right after you balance it. You'll realize you were totally excepting how normal it is to ride unbalanced boards.

  • @skateboardtech oh ok, i might take the time to balnce one of my new decks, but does the lead tape stick out of your grip tape after your done gripping it?

  • a good way to find the middle of the board would be to draw an X with the closest truck mount holes. the center will be where they intersect.

  • @chadanderik Yup, that is probably a good way. I've don't that before on something else.

  • bull

  • it works i always wondered why i couldnt kickflip but heelflip like a pro and i tried this, my board wouldnt balance on the thing till i put lead tape on it now its perfect YES!

  • @ragingsk8er199 Thanks you very much for sharing. Glad to hear that people are trying this before thinking it's BS. Thanks again.

  • I'm 12 years old and live in England a little hard to get led tape can u use anything else

  • @TimeToSkate4Life It should be easy to find. If people golf or play tennis in England you can find lead tape. Any place that sells golf clubs or tennis rackets will supply lead tape.

Lead tape is the easiest to use and work with. Unfortunately it's hazardous to your health. Just don't touch it too much. Wash your hand after using it, and put it in a place where you won't grab it.

  • Nice...I balance my helicopter blades, kinda like this.

  • Seems like a waste of time if its just going to get worn down.

  • ATM have amazing concave i have one and i'm really happy

  • why not just use quaters and not risk the health stufff

  • @randomnoyz because you can't work with quarters. You can cut the tape and add more or remove more weight if needed. Since it's flat it and has adhesive you can put it anywhere on the board.

  • I'm sponsored, and I know a thing or two. Here's the thing though, Your board will not stay balanced, ESPECIALLY if your sponsored and know how to skate. You will always wear the board down, from swipes of grip, to grinding, and even stopping with the tail. You lose pieces of your skateboard constantly, therfore your not balanced. This guy has a point though, check your board, and if it's really off balance, then i suggest adjusting, but not every little tiny piece of ""led tape"" counts.

  • @DfindS8ERS You're right. Wood wears out, trucks get ground down, and the board can become unbalanced. A board is unbalanced a lot to begin with. A board wears down gradually and things can be done to adjust the weight difference. If it's a little off after things wear it's no big deal. If u do this u know center point and can add or remove weight where it's needed. Each time u get a new deck it's like riding the last one. Since you're sponsored u know how one deck can feel totally different.

  • @skateboardtech Yes I agree about knowing where your deck's balance point is. It's a helpful trick tip to those who don't know.

  • @DfindS8ERS LOL what?! Who are you sponsored by? I just had a look at your videos and your doing ollies off kerbs and can barely pop shuvit. No body wants to hear your lies so GTF.

  • @DerpyFail Says the ""DerpyFail"" user

  • @DfindS8ERS *The user thats better than you at skating...

  • @DfindS8ERS DERP being sponsored by yourself doesn't fucking count you fud. And nobody in the right mind would sponsor you : someone who films themselves doing kickflips and then bailing... -.-

  • @DerpyFail I'm not sponsored by myself, I'm sponsored by 3 companies. Fuel, Equalibryum, and High Rolling. DfindSk8ERS is just the name of my skate team.

  • @DfindS8ERS Ollie-ing over bricks and doing shit "half-slides". Suuuuuure you're sponsored.

  • @Simpsonwannabe Not evrybody has to jump a ton of stairs or pull off 720 flips to be sponsored.

  • Again balance don't matted, if a deck is set up right, right shoes and area and you still not landing tricks. It's you. Not enough pop, foot placement doesn't work, and approach to ledge, bench, rail, wall, gap and everything else, is wrong, that is all the skater. Skateboarding is 90% mental 10% skate products that work best for you.

  • @Incredibadder This may be retarded to you personally. It seems unnecessary and a lot of work, but it does improve skating no matter what argument you have. I invite you to give this a shot since you jumped to an ignorant conclusion about it. Prove me wrong afterwards. You had some good points on other stuff you mentioned. The importance of balancing a board was published in a 2004 Dwindle catalog. I know Rodney Mullen balances his board. Would you tell him this is retarded too? Skål

  • @skateboardtech It is unnecessary. Notice you said the catalog was in 2004 when the aesthetics and technology of skateboards and skateboard equipment is not like equipment today I have proved you wrong in my other comment. So there is no need to argue the truth. I have been skating for over 10 yrs. If we continue balance then try balancing on the board then. Cause no matter which way you stand on the board, you will shift the weight just due to the fact that YOU ARE ON THE BOARD.

  • @Incredibadder Ha hilarious. I know all about filming skating. I have filmed Rodney Mullen.I have been paid by Dwindle, pro's and ams. You're only trying to prove me wrong and it won't happen. There is truth to this video. Rodney Mullen was used as an experiment. He couldn't land a trick for 2 weeks. He then left without his board for 20 minutes while it got balanced. He came back and landed it 5 times in a row. He left again. The tape got removed. He came back and couldn't land it. You lose!

  • @skateboardtech LOL FAIL AGAIN. If Rodney Mullen had so much footage...Ones that you claim, then where is tha footy!? THEN also how come the PROS of today and AMS don't freaking use lead tape. Also Pros and Ams don't pay you son...The companies which you film for pay you. I find it funny when you ONLY use Rodney Mullen as an example when Sean Malto, Nyjah Huston, and Chaz Ortiz (mainly those three) Chris Cole, Jamie Thomas, Eric Koston, Joey Brezinski, Elijah Moore...

  • @skateboardtech David Gonzolas, Spenser Nuzzie, Dylan Rieder, Felipe Gustavo, Jimmy Carlin, P-Rod, Daewon Song...DAEWONG SONG, someone who rivals Rodney Mullen in Balance...I know for a FACT. He definitly doesn't use this lead tape business. All those listed. I have talk to, skated with, and shot. All have set up old trucks on their boards, put stickers on their shit to show who they are sponsored by, and don't use lead tape and "balance their boards", They balance their bodies.

  • @skateboardtech "He left again. The tape got removed. He came back and couldn't land it." And couldn't land the trick. Thanks for confirming doesn't work. Quite integrating indeed. Let us settle this and say the silly balance of a board is silly and it is all mental and up to the skater to properly distribute his weight and foot placement because it shifts so often, the balance of board is compromised once he/she stands on it. I win. By laws of physics an common sense, You lose.

  • @skateboardtech In addition, all the skaters listed before minus Daewong Song/Rodney Mullen has attended the Johnny Romano Skate Jam in Houston Texas with their sk8boards and ALL OF THEM DON'T HAVE LEAD TAPE ON THEIR BOARDS. Like Ishod Ward. He came in with a broken board; I saw him put one together. NO TAPE. ALL SKILL. Or is it too hard to fathom that to get consistent, as humans we can train our muscles to do a motion to perfection and do it all the time, it is called Practice

  • @skateboardtech Seriously, is it too hard to fathom that to get that consistent it is all skill not some silly tape but the power of the human mind and body as one to understand what they are doing and have extreme balance and understanding of their own body that they don't need silly tape to help. But the blood sweat and dedication and drive to get better and do it perfectly. Silly skateboardtech, do you not like the truth that lead tape is fing silly, and it is up to tha skater

  • @skateboardtech Being around skateboarding for over 10 years, I know that its mostly mental, and what feels comfortable for you in terms of foot placement. Now we look at some of the most consistent skateboarders today, Chaz Ortiz, Sean Malto, and Nyjah Huston. I have seen their boards personally first hand. Razor tail on Sean's Board, Chaz had old trucks, Nyjah had grip missing from the board sliding on the grip, and all that slide marks on all their boards.

  • @skateboardtech From all three skaters, they know how to skate. Its knowing HOW TO SKATE and foot placement that works best for them and they got it on command. Their muscles and mind remember the action to do it correctly, landing correctly, placing your body and its weight correctly so the board does not slip out. Go ahead balance a board but lean too far forward or too far back, board will slip out from under you.

  • @skateboardtech Now go look up the great Texas film I heard about called Corridor of Shame. In the search bar, look up CORRIDOR OF SHAME CHRIS LURHING. The start of his part he is either leaning too far forward or poping and not properly executing the trick. I have personally skated with Chris Lurhing and he doesn't not put lead weights or "balances" his board but he just loosens his trucks to liking and he jus puts his feet where he feels comfortable, gets a Santa Cruz Board.

  • @skateboardtech As for Rodney Mullen, back then he wasn't as consistent like the guys of today. He is a great at skateboarding because he can do things that is mind boggling. And I don't believe you know that much about going out to film with skaters, pro or am or just the local kid at the park, and how long it takes for a pro to get a certain trick, or anyone really at a spot.

  • @skateboardtech Lets use a great example, Heel Flips. What is your foot placement for those. Or lets ask EVERYONE. How do you do heelflips? Do you hang your toe off a little when executing this trick? When you flick your heel out, do you go off that little area of the concave when you kick out? I don't. I have them down like ollies. My set up is like a kickflip. Heel hanging off. If you look at PJ LADD he has his toes hanging off. Different from me, but still done.

  • @skateboardtech If you really want to do it. We will use a brand Complete to your liking as the independent variable without adjustments to the board at all. Just put together as normally with no lead tape or weight and just skate. Then do the same as you do. Give a kid(s) a two boards, never tell them which is which, ask them how loose do you like the trucks. Loosen/tighten them, but don't let them do it, so they can't tell. Go for it. There is your experiment.

  • This is retarded. Extra weight and balancing it is very unnecessary. It was said before by someone else, once you start skating and popping your board, it becomes unbalanced immediately. The only way the board is making skater skate poorly is when the board is cracked or water logged, trucks have a slipped axle(s), nuts are stripped, bushings are bad, pivot cup is cracked, wheels have severe flats spots, bearings are shit and finally wheel bite

  • how much do you think a skateboard should weigh??

  • @6SuperUser9 There is no specific weight a board should weigh. It all depends on what you like. Every component weighs different from another. Grip tape, bearings, trucks, decks, and wheels all weigh different. Weight is not an issue either. What matters most is your ability/skill to pop a board high. There are factors that can change the "pop". Consider wheel size, truck hight, and tail size when trying to figure out pop. I'll explain this in more detail in an upcoming video.

  • @skateboardtech Great!!

  • this guy is a genius!

  • he looks like flynn from uncharted

  • nice! but if the tail and nose have different shape, its normal to one weight more than other or not?

  • thank you for all the vids they're all great :)

  • @slipknotmania2940 interesting tell us more ....

  • I hav a p2 board

  • @slipknotmania2940 p2 suck they have great pop for about 1 week of two and then it chips like crazy. but they never snap.

  • @ELBRENDITTO P2 decks can snap just as easy as any other deck. Skaters are not engineers and neither are guys who design decks. The kevlar is not going to protect a deck against being "focused". Its great that some brands want to push products into a higher level, but some brands just try to push gimmicks instead. I'll be conducting tests on P2 decks to see how well they claim to be.

  • @skateboardtech i was just saying that p2s dont seem like an advancement but more like a scam. id rather just stick with a normal deck

  • thanks i can really amaze my friends

  • your like the skateboarding scientist dude lol thanx for all the info i never knew bout balancing my board out

  • woudlnt balancing the board with lead tape make the board heavier and more complicated to land tricks over obstacles?

  • @bobbyemert No, the added weight is not noticeable. Boards change weight pretty often as skaters try new sizes of wheels and different truck brands, or even grip tape. Plus most skaters put stickers on their boards, which adds weight too. Decks also weigh different from one another. Balancing a board won't have any effect on landing tricks over obstacles.

  • @skateboardtech oh okay well heres a whole different question idk if my boards unbalanced or if its my trucks i bought the trucks a lil over a year ago and now when i turn one side of the trucks lifts up but when i turn on the other side its fine whats this about?

  • this is great and so thoughtful. thanks!

  • Post a video of yourself skating!:D

  • me" my board sucks"

    Alex "no its just you"

me " im skating a snapped tail and im still landing fs blunts"(BOSS)

  • yeah but as soon as you start to grind your trucks, wheels, or deck down, wont the weight be unbalanced again?

  • @legaCsk8er4 thats what i was thinking :L

  • your videos r amazing.

  • @skateboardtech NICE THEEVE TIKING TRUCKS

  • OMG! I've never heard about this. I'm going to try this out xD. Thanks for the info =]!!

  • are you sponsered by ATM?

  • @SkaterJetro lol same here, my trucks are the worst through..

  • @SkaterJetro Youtube won't let me post a link so try to type this. Alohaboardsports(dot)com

  • @SkaterJetro It's an alcoholic drink in the Philippines.

  • @skateboardtech im filipino dude, but i live in Tallahassee, FL

  • @SkaterJetro If I ever go to the Philippines you can buy me a tapuy.

  • I find this method very good, but the thing is, if u have been useing an un balanced board for a long time, it feels a bit different, when its balanced. But after some practice, i feel it slighty better, and on an average my flips have been better. Thanks for shareing.

  • for how much?

  • @ilovescreamo15 for how much of what?

  • Could someone please help me with the Kickflip ? Everytime i try to slide my foot off the corner of the tail. The board just pops up on the tail (like as if its standing up) and then it just tips over. Sometimes because of that it hits my groin! :O Ouch ! Right ? So could someone please help me with some tips.

  • @HeavyMetalSkater11 Sounds like you are paying attention to how it's done and what you are doing. Your front foot does the work. You should not be kicking with your back foot on the tail. This is why you are having trouble. Watch videos and trick tips.

  • @HeavyMetalSkater11 First of all make sure you have great ollies, you should atleast be able to ollie on the curb going straight at it.

  • you should put up a skate video

  • how do u get those atm board and why so many ??

  • @ilovescreamo15 I get them from a local shop, or ATM directly. I need boards for all my videos and they are the best price.

  • @skateboardtech how much r they and i love ur vids thx

  • @ilovescreamo15 Oh the decks. Sorry your comment was somewhere else. They are about $30. If you live in the USA, I think they carry them at Zumiez. Check your local core skate shop first.

  • This. Is. Retarded. In the time it takes to do this to your boards, a full skate vid could have been filmed and edited.

  • @drunkskateboarding You're right! Feel better now? All you really want is people to hear you and care about the things you say. Wanna hang out some time?

  • looks 3d at 4:25

  • Never really thought about balance, I will try this. Love the ATM decks!

  • where are you getting all the ATM decks?

  • I would love too balance my board but im just too lazy

  • it looks like a hoverboard

  • wow this is an ingenious way to compensate for wood ply decks. have you tried it on the P2 composite decks yet? Anyways i think i am going to try it and hope it help with some consistency

  • I don't know this might work well if you're at a very high skill level but for me it's not worth it. Plus at the rate I grind my nose and tail down, it would be out of balance every day or two!

  • my board is unbalanced and very rarely dont land tricks and makes ur board heavier

  • @TheBruinspride123 You rarely don't land tricks? Incredible! Who is this? You've got to be the best skater in world. But wait, even the top skaters take days even weeks to learn new tricks. If so, then I guess balancing a board is not for you. I am curious tho. Have u been using the same brand of trucks your whole life? If not, have u ever weighed the difference between your old truck brand and your new one? Maybe u used to ride 7.75 and now 8. I guarantee your board changes weight all the time

  • @skateboardtech i use the same everything

    Plan B P2 deck

    Venture Trucks

    Plan B wheels

    Bones Swiss bearings

    Element hardware

    mob grip tape

  • i thought about and i got the idea to use stickers ! better looking and it may work do you think it will ?

  • @lilrabbit97 Lead has more weight than stickers and because lead tape is the same size throughout it's easier to work with. You could use stickers but you'd have to use a lot. Lead tape is also thinner than a sticker so it hides better too.

  • @skateboardtech thanks for the response and what can i replace ''lead'' because i have never seen it before and it's impossible to find where i live .

    Thanks , Sam .

  • @skateboardtech easy, use lead tape then put a sticker over it, balanced and looks good

  • are you sure it is worth and i've never herd of led tape before what can i replace it with ?

  • Seems like it works. But i change decks every month or so and i dont feel like doing this to every single board I have..

  • What if u do grinds and stuff then the tape will just break or something then you'll just have to buy a new one.complete waste of money!just stick with ur skateboard and learn the tricks the hard way!thats how the pros do it!

  • @chuchay923 It can be intimidating for people to see something new and different. Sometimes doubt, fear, or skepticism arises. This is especially true in those who's insecurities control their subconscious minds. You don't have to get it, believe it, or do it. Leave this to those who want to know how to improve their skills. Continuing to do things the hard way is not human nature. It's close to insanity. If u don't care for improvement, then I assume u ride a 2x4 with metal roller skate wheels.

  • @chuchay923 meh... the pros probably do this

  • damn i didnt study!!!

  • @joseshecklersk8 Then you will fail miserably. Stay in school.

  • sweet board will it crack what is it called?

  • @pepperpong7074 There is nothing special about this board. Inexpensive, and made in the USA. It is an ATM "blank".

  • u are probably the best person to ask for my problem. my board goes to the left naturally when i push and so i end up leaning forward too much. i've tried adjusting my bushings and trucks and it still does this. it feels like my trucks are balanced. i need them to go straight when i push

  • @grantota Without seeing it for myself its difficult to tell you what the problem is. It could still be your trucks. I also don't know what brand of deck you have, how well you tighten the bolts from your trucks to the deck, what bushings you have, or how much you weigh. let me know a bit more about what you have and I could possibly narrow it down.

  • this seams very interesting, I've noticed it's easier to flip the board one way compared to another way. do you think think this is due to unbalancing?

  • Please help me, if i put my skateboard on the ground 1 wheel is in the air and the rest of the wheels are on the ground. what should i do?

  • @Sk4t3rDude Nothing. Don't worry about it. Just about everyone's board does this a little bit. It's caused by your bushings. I am assuming you like your trucks tight. After landing a trick or leaning to one side your truck will stick a little to the side. This will raise one wheel off the ground. While riding you won't feel it because your body weight levels the board out so all 4 wheels are on the ground. So no need to worry. If it annoys u, and u just want to fix it, buy harder bushings.

  • @skateboardtech Thanks!

  • omg, your a genius !!! :O :)

  • @coolsaints123 I think there lucky

  • If rodney mullen can make it whitout that led teip, i can do it

  • @ljungbyskate If you can land tricks that Rodney Mullen can do that's pretty cool. However, I personally know Rodney Mullen balances his board. I have even filmed him. So, if you get really frustrated with a trick and just can't seem to land it, balancing a board will work for you. Don't knock it until you try it.

  • @skateboardtech your videos are soooo so helpful keep makin them never stop please

  • @skateboardtech ok thanks man

  • @skateboardtech no offence, but i can do almost all tricks mullen can do :) without lead, now i bought a newboard cause it broke.. i put some lead on it, its totally awesome now! thans for the help with the video!

  • I just tightened the wheels hard so they wont move.. n I practice cuz I don't have to worry bout the board slipping left to right

  • load of barnacles

  • i did this when to a skatepark and kickfliped a 6block 2nd try

  • How will lead rape cause disabilities

  • @TheOrangeSunday lead tape not lead rape. Lead tape is toxic, I think lead rape would just be uncomfortable.

  • how does this help you? wouln't the board be off balance when its flipping anyways? im confused.

  • @JPfingerskater The board is weighted different. A sphere is evenly weighted. U can also flip a wooden stick evenly because the weight is pretty even from end to end. But if you placed a couple nail in a random spot that stick will be off balanced. You now changed the center balance point. A skateboard has wheel base, different length nose and tail, resin, and wood grain structure that all play a part of making a board unbalanced. It will rotate evenly while flipping after balancing.

  • 3:24 he said dick

  • i go through boards so fast that I just don't have the time in the end.

  • this really helped me with my board p.s. you have anger issues

  • man you are awesome! Finaly someone who knows what they are talking about. i was not sitting in the end and thinking ''but how is that possible'' because you explained it so good man. you just got a thumbs up and a new subsriber:)

  • sounds like a bunch of balony

  • @dustrock0725 It may seem like a bunch of bologna/baloney bcuz you've never heard of anyone ever balancing their skateboard. It's one of the most important things u can do with your setup. If you're a more advanced skater give it a try. I guarantee you'll notice a difference in how your tricks flip better. As u go from deck to deck you're changing the weight and balance from your previous setup. A new deck can seem impossible to do tricks on at first bcuz u have to adjust to the weight change.

  • first i thot it said, perfect pick up trick then i got sad, but still watched

  • Thanks a lot worked like a charm dude i'm going to be posting a sponcer video when i get a camera..... again lol . thanks for the tip...

  • i got a sezier while riding my newly balanced skateboard... now i am physically unable to do any physical activities at all, with out getting a sezier.... thank alot man... fuckin led tape....

  • When are you gonna make a new vid???

  • Comment removed

  • Hey ive got a question for ya. Ive got a skateboard with wheels that used to roll well but now, its kidna stuck. i also cleaned the inside but it didnt work so i dont knw what to do..

  • @EKbentleypwns- I'm going to post a bunch of videos about bearings within a couple weeks. Bearings come already lubricated. When the lubricant evaporates or comes out of the bearing it leaves the bearing dry and unprotected from dirt and water. Water will penetrate the steel, oxidize the iron in the steel and create rust. Debris will cause surface damage to the balls and rings. After cleaning you must put lubricant inside or you'll create friction. Use sewing machine oil, it's the best.

  • @skateboardtech OH..... Ok. Thx for the tips and tellin me what to do. I'll try it out and tell you if it works well!

  • @skateboardtech Hey man, im lovin how your guys channel is comming along, and just want to say that i did s science expirement for school about Which Bering Brand/Type Works Best On A Skateboard (causes the most spins) if youd like i could PM you the results and a chart for your team to look at. please reply man :D

  • @EKbentleypwns- Sometimes bearings just get beyond the point of maintenance or repair, and are best being replaced. Shields and seals are way more
