  • Absolutely stunning work from everyone involved. Seriously superb.

  • they ripped off the movie...

  • wow this is seriously good. it isnt good for a high school, this is good full stop.

  • Comment removed

  • this was a GREAT performance! I would love to actually go to one of your theater performances!

  • HOLY CRAP they're awesome O_O

  • HOLY CRAP they're awesome O_O

  • I guess "Single my ass" and "One of those Mormon types" were considered too risque...

  • I think it sounded very fake! Needed more enthusiasm. I didn't like it at all. You guys should see The actual video maybe y'all learn something.

  • what school was this?

  • The Cicero girl wasn't good :-p

  • I agree with "ManusFrigus"

I'm doing this musical in the spring next year, and it's a shame that there is so much bureaucracy to go through. However, I'd do as phralmulo would as well, and keep the beautifully raunchy and disgusting parts of this "inappropriate piece" just for shock appeal.

I adored Lipshichs and her performance, 11/10 for her.

However, I just...hope the actors and actresses do not act vicariously out of rehearsals and shows. I am aiming and wishing for the part next year.

  • Wow. You guys performed this amazingly! And your theatre is so nice! I think your stage is probably about the size of my school's entire theatre. XD

  • this is excellent

  • The girl who played Velma has a fantastic singing voice.

  • I saw a high school production of this last night and it was good but not a patch on you guys, great work!

  • Very good singing, decent dancing, but the two first girls could work on acting. Overall a very a version of this great number.

  • i am very impressed, for a high school production, this was pretty good! kudos to your director, and you girls are good actors.

  • This is actually very cleverly done! Sometimes B'way's classic choreography CAN use a jolt of new ideas. The girl's acting chops were quite good. The use of the boys and the "blood" ....just fine to distinquish this production from the countless others. Kudos to you.

  • nice voices....nice escenography...but what about the preformance?? i mean the doesnt know how to act that master piece!!!! and the dancing??? well there isnt any!!!! cell block tango its a strong musical...

  • A lot of the movements needed to be sharper, and were too soft. And the innocent (Uh-uh) girl sounded too harsh. But altogether, it was a good job on what I would imagine is quite a difficult song/act to perform.

  • Its mediocre and a typical high school production

  • the acting is a bit... hmm..

  • Very impressive for a high school. Great set.

  • this is FANTASTIC! this is the best high school performance i have ever seen. i want to do chicago sooooooo bad at school!

  • this is awesome! where did u guys buy the score/script for this highschool preformance?

  • Great for a high school performance but having to censor it just takes a big chunk out of Chicago.

  • over acting much?

    and i hate your accents.

very nice though, apart from that.

  • We're going to be performing this in our spring concert. Because it is a high school performance, we also have to edit it. I'm playing Annie "Six", and I don't get to say "single my ass" or "one of those mormons". Instead, I have to say "single, yeah right" and "one of those guys." It does suck. However, some parents are already concerned and complaining because we are doing this song. Basically, to keep the parents from throwing a fit, we have to edit it. Sorry.

  • @gatorad09 Oh I;m so glad I;m not american in this case

We don't have to edit a thing :P

classmates of mine once had a discussion about the Kama Sutra once with the newlywed history teacher LOL

mind you, they were second years (14) :P

that, and they serve us beer and wine at school parties :D :D

  • its over cencored

  • wow... I agree that it kinda sucks to have to censor it for high school... if you going to do chicago people should know what they are getting themselves into... but thats what happens in highschool shows... besides that it truly was spectacular. fantistic voices, great music, awesome chorography and good onstage chemistry. it was FANTASTIC for a highschool performance!!! these kids have some serious potential

  • yeah it was great for a high school performance, the only thing is that i think they all spoke too fast, or didn't say the lines in the right way. The last girl was fine though, she spoke more slowly and i liked the way she said her lines :) still great though :)

  • this is a great performance, really,extremely good !

  • Not at all unimpressed with the performances. It's just such a shame that the director edited so much, which is typical in high school productions. If you're going to do "Chicago", OWN IT. Don't edit out the "ronchy" portions, as one poster mentioned. Makes me sick to know that "single, my ass" and "spread eagle" were censored, amongst other things. Chicago is a "sinful" show. You can't "halfway sin". So stupid.

  • @phralmulo what do you expect though it's high school lol but yeah i know what you mean

  • how can you all say this is good? it's god awful

  • I felt the not guilty chick had to be softer and more innocent, but next to that it was very very great! Congratz

  • @ManusFrigus You're right, she was too sexual

  • wow, this was actually realy realy good:D

  • o my goodness. I've seriously been looking for a great redo of Chicago and if the rest of the play is only half as good as this number, I'll still be incredibly impressed! I love it and the girls were so great and it was just enough like the original without being an exact copy. Love love love! Great job everyone! Is there any way to see the rest of the performance?

  • wow awesome for a high school performance... much props...!!!

  • props for leaving in the part about "screwing the milkman" ;-P

this is pretty impressive, actually :)

  • most of them were really good, but some of the edits were a bit rediculous. 'spread eagle' could have been left alone, since 'their own number' is just as suggestive

  • this is excellent!

I especially admire that the number still lived up to its meaning without using the especially ronchy items of the song-it was almost like an edited highschool version, but it worked, and I think it was great!

  • i almost want to cry for the poor girl whos husband ran into the knife ten times.

great delivery of the line- he he

  • -points to description-

you know.. the people who said those words, pop, squish, uh uh, etc..

    they have.. character names.. lol

  • Yes they do and for those that would like to know them:

    POP = LIZ

    SIX = ANNIE

    SQUISH = JUNE

    UH UH = HUNYAK

    CICERO = VELMA

    LIPSCHITZ = MONA

I do wish they would have kept Annie's line at the end "Single my ass"

Hunyak could have played her "Uh uh not guilty" with more innocence like this is the only English I know . which makes you understand that she is the only one that didn't do it ! when her death scene happens in Act II.

    Great singing overall.

  • I can't believe this is a high school musical, its so well performed, the singing, costumes, stagins, daning, it's all great. I wouldn't think they'd allow high school girls to wear costumes like that- pretty scandelous. They did a great job anyways.

  • Damn, this was a HS production? Very well done!

  • I LOVE THIS VERSION!!!!!

  • needed to be more serious at some parts. all together, great composition. it was wonderful, great job

  • This is wonderful...well edited for content, still entertaining, taking from the movie, but making it original. Very awesome!

  • Amazing production! Congratulations. Pure talent

  • Hey, did you get the rights from Samuel French?

Are they out? When I go to the website it says they are restricted.

    Thank You

  • im in illinois..and our show is goin on right now..

this college has been trying to get the rights for 10 yrs..lol

the tour just came through...so...its restricted depending on where the tour is...and since it is still on broadway it will be pretty pricey.

  • really good! ^.^

  • Awesome!

  • great voices....the sound is a bit young though.....

    like idk

  • I love this performance. Great job!

  • WOWOWOW!!!

  • That was one of the best high school productions I have ever seen! Very nice! =]

  • I like "Squish" the best. lol. "And then he ran into my knife!" I like the way she delivered that line.

  • This is seriously amazing.

But I feel really bad for the girl who fell in the last, like, second of the video.

  • Omg that was like AMAZING best one ive seen!!!!

  • Is this like a magnet high school? We'd be lucky to find ONE guy who could dance at mine, and probably at most of the high schools in the country. Great job! Must've been tons of work!

  • Great!! Especially when you remember, this is highschool.....then it is AMAZING. So much talent in our young adults. The orchestra is fantastic as well......again, especially for h.s. Thanks for this.

  • i hate to be rude but maybe you should see a more diverse number of high school performances- but this is still good!

  • this is so freaking awsome this is my favorite song in this movie

  • no new interpretation, the red scarves are rlly cliche.

  • Come on, this is a high school performance. We expect new interpretations from Broadway revivals, but not high schools.

I was very impressed - great job!

  • awsome :)

  • man i wish that we would do this but nooo we have to do sussical

  • all the guys are gorgeous...

wow the guys in are musicals are that sexy :D

    good jobs xD!

  • They seem very robotic. No emotion. Especially the dancing.

  • that uh uh girl cracks me up

  • Ugh I hate it when people do a rendition of Chicgao and make it like the movie

  • i totally agree!!!!!!! my high school has a chronic problem w/ that in any musical that is also a movie just cuz they don't reach outside the "movie" box it totally bothers me... i feel like it lacks creativity. however this is done well i can't really say anything bad about these girls they r all really good. but it is closer to the movie, rather the stage show...thats the only aspect i don't like

  • I totally agree, they are all talented, but I am Billy Flynn in a production and we are doing it like the current broadway show, the Band stand and all, but I did with naother group a year ahgo and we did it like the ori9ginal 1975 show which was awesome

  • that is awesome!!! i have yet to ever be part of a production of this but i really want to someday it is absolutely one of my favorites

  • Totally agreed! They need to bring Fosse's original vision of the show back to the stage! I'm lucky enough to own a video of the 1978 Tour of the original production, and it is brilliant!

  • thats very good for a high school production

  • Wow. A high school production?

How did this go over with the parents?

I have wanted to do this show for sooo long!

  • we were worried about how it would be recieved, but it was a pretty positive response believe it or not

  • Actually I am also in Chicago, not with the school but I am 15 and so is everyone else, and our parents are actually okayw ith it, which I was shocked by haha

  • What high school is this, and are they selling oil to the rest of the world? j/k

Great work!! Nice to see some schools actually have a budget, let alone a stage and enthusiastic actors and actresses. Where was this school when I was growing up?

  • holy omg dewitt - you guys PWN (i go to merrill... needless to say our drama program is lacking)

  • you guys are just amzing. I really love you guys. I say this movie and the play in New York. Brodway Performance.

  • they did pretty good!

  • It was very similar to the film in a few respects, but a performance of very high quality for a high school.

Also, the actress who portrayed Hunyak delivered a very interesting take on the role. Her Hungarian was good, but I wonder if she knew what she was saying... the only reason I say that is because I recently played the same role in a college production. Other than that, a job well done!

  • very good! i'm trying to find out how to get the rights for this show so my high school can do it, any help?

  • So how did you put this production on considering Samuel French has restricted the rights for a couple years now?

  • its was restricted but we applied for it and legally got it, i think we were one of 4 productions last spring

  • Oh ok. that's pretty cool.

  • is the music the karaoke version?

    if it was,

    where did u get it?

    reply back.

    thank u

  • no we had a pit... thats what all those people behind the dancers are

    sorry

  • So more movie than Broadway?

  • Very nice!

  • I loved the choreography with the scarf in the "he ran into my knife six times" part. Overall it was ok.

  • Could have done with some more agression on the Pops,Sixes etc Really love the acting and costumes. Amazing set!
