  • The Beatles did get back together in the mid 70's and fooled everyone by calling themselves The Rutles.

  • I don't believe it! Looks to me we can see where the Beatles stole all their material and inspiration!

  • what beatles song is this a parody of i can't seem to work it out

  • @MyPyroAlex Sounds like a mix of "If I Fell" and "And I Love Her."

  • Bigger dan life !

  • I want to be two hairdressers...

  • I Love how his electric turns into a acoustic then back to a electric the Rutles were and still are magical as we observe here.

  • Neil Innes is now on tour. Check out his website for tickets!

  • The Rutles are more popular than L. Ron Hubbard.

  • I wonder if Neil wonders what might have been if he'd put this out instead of Bonzo Dog Doo Dah?

  • That's Rikki Fataar as Stig O'Hara singing that song. He's a South African musician who back in the 1970's toured with The Beach Boys.

  • Rutlemania!!!!!!!!!

  • A legend that would last a lunch time!

  • OMG is that barack obama in that movie

  • lol i love the beatles but i can take a joke, and this is hilarious!!

  • LOL "one of them screamed in me ear" rofl

  • They're really bigger than Rod!

  • @Tabs2409 Haha, at least in the 60`s cause Rod didn`t get big before much later!

  • @Tabs2409 EVerybody's bigger than Rod! :-P

  • And to think, Stig never said a word the whole movie. Talk about parodying the quiet one to the extreme.

  • The Beatles were actually a parody of The Rutles.

  • Brilliant band and brilliant parody.

  • @junkie4vids You are so right

  • @junkie4vids Some kids just have nothing better to do. lol

  • Berry Wom Is Womtastik!

  • What he would do, is take segments/styles & hooks from a couple of differents tunes & combine it. And I Love Her/I'll Be Back/If I Fell... squashed into one !

  • This was probably an Innes song without any intent on mimicking a Beatles song. It's Beatle influenced no doubt but it's not recognisbly based on anything. This is my favourite Rutles song.

  • The beginning - totally "Here there and everywhere".

  • 0:36. Notice how the guitar that Ricky has changes.

  • i cant tel which one thisis a spoof of..."and i love her"? or "ill be back"

  • I wonder why Rikki who portrayed Stig couldn't have any talking roles in the film? Sure, George was the quiet Beatle, but he was social around everybody.

  • because it's a joke

  • as a parody some things are taken to the extreme to make them more funny

  • The music of The Rutles scaled heights that the Beatles found too dizzying to climb.

  • my favorite song after "hold my hand"=)

  • This is a great toon...tweenus

  • normally when someone says that something in a song sounds like something else, it always ruins the song for me, because i keep hearing what they said they heard. but with you saying 'between us' sounds like 'penis'.... i head 'between us'

  • There is an edit error... the guy with the acoustic guitar (the one who plays george, suddenly is playing the Gretch guitar and then is back to acoustic.

  • It must of been Leggy,s editing...but im sure they sacked him, apparently he,s doing the do with with a peters and lee tribute act...good ole leggy,he always chased the talent

  • Then they realized it wasen't leggy's fault so they sacked the guys that sacked leggy! LOL

  • I'm pretty sure thier trying to make a joke.

  • PLUS i think that these are not the real Beatles

  • you think =))?

  • stig o hara his name is

  • "its hard being a living legend"....Ron Nasty,circa 1965

  • I think it's also based on I need you,

really sounds like it and sung by Stig (George).

  • its "and I love her" btw Mccartney died in 1966

  • When did he die? Paul isn't dead

  • dude he died in 1966 and they replaced him with William Campbell. Type in paul is dead on youtube or yahoo and you will find clues and stories.

  • No, that was a hoax, it wasn't real, I know all about that! It ALL fake, if you still think he is dead, ask him yourself, Sir Paul never died! The Beatles themselves said it was a hoax!

  • Oh come on.that story is as stupid and as old as the hills.

  • "one of 'em screamed in me ear" hahaha

  • notice how stiga hara's (george character) guitar keeps changing

  • sounds a bit like And I love her

  • that's what it is supposed to be parodying! Weird, huh?!

  • I don't think all of their songs are exactly parodies of Beatles songs. I believe some of them they just wrote to sound like a Beatles song, and they do a great job of it.

  • Sounds a little Beach-Boyish.

  • That singer was a Beach Boy briefly. Played drums on the Holland album

  • He's Rikki Fataar... =)

Great Song, and a awesome singer... the quiet Rutle

  • What you said made me laugh my arse off....haha! I'm still laughing now...haha. Its always funny until someone gets hurt, then its hilarious.....

  • How mean. I don't know what kind of person your sister was but I suspect a little part of you went with her...,perhaps? Anyway love them Rutles! YEAH!!

  • What a jerko...

  • I like that song. I know it's a spoof, but I've always liked that song. I think the songs in this film were written by Neil Innes.

  • Yeah the Rutles songs are actually quite good. They are all paradies, but imitation is the greatest form of flattery and The Rutles was well scripted, funny and had some good little tunes. Some people take it too serious.

  • Jaja, brownie George! Despite the fact that Eric Idle looks more as George than Rikki, this is a great song, more beautiful because dont use the same structures of any Beatles song

  • this would have been a hit in the '60's, great song Neil!

  • the guy playing "stig" is Rikki Fataar, who was in the beach boys for a number of years as a drummer ( after dennis busted up his arm very badly) and sang on a couple of their albums , and this is him singing.

  • lol. .brown george is soo cool!

  • Heh...I love how this movie always has characters being frightened by people was less tough than themselves; I think there was a similar joke about some gang bikers being frightened of one of their female members, but I can't really remember it.

  • I meant "way less", not "was less".

  • This is really amusing but I cannot figure out what Beatles' song this is a paradoy of. Anyone know?

  • I'm on the same situation, I can't figure this one out, bit it's great as an independent love song anyway.

  • I don't think it spoofs a specific song ... it's kind of a generic early beatle ballad with acoustic guitar & harmonies. It does lift the percussion from "And I Lover Her"

  • if i needed someone

  • I hate to say it but, I just love this song as a song. I sing it to myself upon occasion.

And yes Neil Innes IS a genius, a parody so precise it could conceivably be canonical, I love stuff like that.

  • Isn't It A Pity-george harrison

  • Stig O'Hara!!

Stig has been dead for ages, honestly.

  • in fact it sounds uncannily like

dnab bulc stard ynlo serttur tnaegres

  • pero que mierda es esta? pretenden imitar a los Beatles??? no me jodas...

  • I screamed in my mum's ear today (I might be meeting Michael Palin at a booksigning) I wonder if she feels the same as the police officer lol.

  • What`s funny about the Rutles, is if the original Beatles had actually called themselves "The Rutles" and played these songs, they would have been just as big. Neil Innis really nailed them.

  • Awesome song, one of my faves by the Pre-Fab Four - and very sharp eye on you, HumGuitar, with Stig's guitar weirdly going from acoustic to electric to acoustic again, lol! Conceivably footage from two different concerts put together but I think it more likely that this was meant to be a humourous ha-ha for the sharp-eyed. Thank you for helping me see it *hugs*! Rutlemania lives!

    Fondly,

    Rachel :)

  • The Bobby who says "One of 'em screamed in me ear" is the late, great Ollie Halsall who played lead guitar and bass on the soundtrack.

  • No, the bobby is played by actor Bunny May. Ollie ("Leppo") only appears in a photo of them in their Hamburg days.

  • The guy playing George, his guitar changes from acoustic to electric and back to acoustic.

  • Oh yeah!

  • great music!
