Honestly, I only care about economic policies which is exactly what every voter should put his decision in the context of. I give Ron Paul a <5% chance to win. He's a great guy but not enough to win most independents, republicans and democrats over. It's as simple as that. Businesses will step back and ask, "what will I get from this guy?" and they won't like what they'll see.

Non intervetinonism is very different from isolationism.

That is why they lost Congress in 2006 and the White House in 2008. The IDEAL presidential candidate, from the perspective of what the American PEOPLE want ( as opposed to what the media or to what Israel wants ), is an anti-war fiscal and social conservative ----- i.e. someone exactly like Ron Paul !

@mooninquirer If I understand correctly, Ron Paul wants to legalize marijuana along with most if not all other drugs. He also wants to legalize prostitution. These are not Social Conservative values. They are Libertarian values that most Republicans, I believe, find extreme. Ron Paul also recently said that he would not have gone after Bin Laden. Republicans want a president who will be strong on national security. That type of nonsense does not allude a strong leader.

From my personal experience in real life, on the street, Ron Paul supporters realize that 911 was an inside job, along with many other people. Obama gets very little bounce out of the killing of Bin Laden, BECAUSE INDEPENDENT VOTERS ARE ANTI-WAR.

I think you are correct on those social issues, although he would leave it up to the STATES to decide. Ron Paul's position on those things is STILL far more conservative, even given legalizing prostitution, because he would allow private organizations to discriminate against anyone, for any reason, and THAT is far more valuable to social cons than legalizing prostitution. There would be school choice, and these schools could discriminate against gays, for example.

Republicans, and Americans in general, want a president who will make America STRONG, on foreign policy. This means forgetting about the Muslim world, which has NO beef with America ( but only with Israel ), and worrying about China's very rapid economic and military rise, as well as worrying about the flood of illegal immigrants. The wars with Iraq and Afghanistan, Iraq, and Libya, which are wars for Israel, have greatly weakened America, by bankrupting the Treasury.

@mooninquirer Nobody wants to go to war with Iran, Sryia, ect. None of the Presidential contestants are advocating going to war with Iran, Sryia, ect. Yes. Ron Paul won the CPAC straw poll the last two years in a row, as he has with a number of straw polls, with Mitt Romney a close second. But note that Ron Paul always polls in singe digits nationally. In the lastest national poll he got only 5% of the vote. Whereas Romney consistently leads, with around 20%.

Further, Iran is NOT developing "nuclear weapons," and there is not only evidence from the IAEA and US intelligence agencies ( and the Mossad ) that this is true, but 100 % absolute knowledge, since it is KNOWN what is required for a nuke bomb, and Iran is not even coming within MILES.

@sambunderson I don't know what you are talking about, because recently there was a poll showing that Ron Paul is the MOST likely to beat Obama, among all of the GOP candidates. Last year, in April, a nationwide poll showed Ron Paul trailing Obama by only ONE percentage point. The very great appeal of Ron Paul is his position on foreign policy, and his position on social issues appeals to most people, but I admit he might be too fiscally conservative.
