The regular fork is flexing, because it's single crown, while theirs is dual crown. Please compare boxxer to this fork, and then let's look who's got more lateral give/flex!!!
@artrbinfo And when they would mention that the Lefty is almost 4 lbs lighter than a Boxxer you would tell them to compare it to a regular xc fork, right? And just for the record, the lefty is stiffer 'cause of the square shaped tubes, not just for the dual crown structure. Congrats for missing the whole point of the vid...
@mtbsieppo Lefty 4 lbs lighter then Boxxer? rofl Boxxer weights exactly: 5.98 lbs and Lefty weight 3.01 lbs (1365g), so the difference is 2.97 lbs not 4. And lets not talk about weight distribution :D Square shaped tube intube, will always have high drag on twisting, and will lock-up suspension as easy rounded tube. I have ridden the DLRs and they are nothing compared to Boxxer or even a Bomber for Freeride or DH. So keep jumping with tiny DJs or go back to sauna to drink some more! Paskat :D

However, when talking about the weight of Boxxers we both were kinda right, as there are 3 versions of them heaviest one being 6.63 lbs. My point was though that it would make no sence to compare a lefty to a Boxxer as they are designed for completely different kinds of riding. Comparing a Lefty to another xc fork, on the other hand, is fair.

@kyligz : I am a mechanical engineer and a mountain biker, and I can tell you beyond a shadow of a doubt that in any moderately spirited trail or XC riding, these forces are exactly what the front suspension system will experience. I know you said you "wont [sic] bother explaining all the principal errors," but please, enlighten us with your vast knowledge of engineering, statics, dynamics, and materials.
I own 2 cannondales. 1 with a Lefty and the other one with a fatty. The fatty flexes noticeably more than the lefty. I just luve the Lefty :) I guess you got to ride it a few times, to believe it.
These are the kind of forces you get when you turn AND hit a bump. It's a combination of gyroscopic and lateral forces. You don't need to analyse it to that level though to feel the difference. You just have to go out and ride a lefty. Then let us know how it feels to you.
The science there is flawed...but the inherent rigidity, and strength (regardless of load direction) is apparent. It's like a landing gear on a bicycle. I'd lik eto see lefty "tested" against a triple clamp fork like the old DH MOTO 120s or a Maverick Duc32, i would assume that triple clamp forks are the strongest because motorcycles use them. Haven't ridden a lefty..but i'm coming around...slowly.
@Shegal1535 Its not a downhill or freeride fork!!! So testing a lefty against a dh moto 120s is pointless becaus they are made for different usage.. but your question made me wonder and it would be intresting how they compare to eachother.... btw it is a nice fork last month i bought myself a cannondale rz onetwenty 1 and its just so comfy to ride :) the fork make's some noise becaus of the roller bearings but its aloth smoother then my older rock shox reba race

The biggest problem we see is with forks giving up, giving out, giving way, and in general not doing their job there arent many forks that can handle being leaned on while balancing or humping a 200# rider and his 30# bike round. I've seen Duc32s twisted in their stanchions to the point of explosion, rock shocks snap so far Fatty's hold up. We're just wondering if the lefty is the deal!?
why rebound of compared one is so weird? maybe because of lack of air in airspring?

I want cannondale to make a heavier 160mm+ travel version of the lefty. I suspect it could make a stout freeride fork if it was beefed up a little.

They are trick,no doubt about it,i love the look,the engineering,and the ease of removing the wheel,etc,etc,etc.
I wonder why Motocross bikes havent adapted this style.I guess when the Patent runs out you will see them on Honda's and stuff.

I agree with kyligz, there will not be 5-10 pounds of sideways force on my rim or fork at any given time, even in the sharpest of turns.

I ride a Lefty on my Cannondale and it is amazing. So good that I don't want to go back to the old style of fork.
