  • wait, it was 14Million people in 10 minutes back in '09. Now they say it's 10 Million.. hmmm.

  • There isnt ONE desirable GM vehicle on the market at the moment. The entire american car industry have been pushing their pigiron dinosaurs for eons. Building 10-15 models over decades all using the same base model while europe and Japan made progress. GM sold Pushrods, leafsprings and low tech.cars by linking them to the american dream! Then made them cheap quality so people would soon buy another. Terms like high mileage, hothatches and compact cars were unheard of in USA until recently.

  • GM does not put pride in their cars, they simply make cars for profit, therefore they make junk. Us Europeans put our pride into both engineering and manufacturing cars. I guess the difference shows, European Socialism > American Capitalism.

  • I live in a very rural area but I travel a lot.

In my rural area, nearly all the cars are domestic.

In the city, it is the opposite. Almost all the cars I see on the road are "imports".

Given that zip is focused mostly in urban area and most people rent inexpensive cars with good mileage, I believe his numbers are probably correct.

  • lol carlousmagnus.

sorry, i didn't realize saying the f word 3 times in a joking manner was extreme. my bad dude. :)

i don't trust anything michael moore does anymore. ever since i found out 9/11 was an inside job and his film fareinheit 9/11 helped cover it up by making our government look like bumbling idiots and not the perpetrators.

  • so no one has ever said i want to drive a corvette or a viper around this guy is a fucking lair

  • GM = shitty CARS = company collapses, No surprise there

  • LOL, and FOX News isn't?

  • youre the dipshit-Moore didn't put this news bite on CNBC together, it's just an interview with the ceo of a random company

  • hehe, 1:17 the chick laughing is great.

  • why the hell is GM releasing new cars? Chevrolet Cruze is coming in 2011, if it were an electric model rather than just a re-skinning of a Pontiac G5 maybe it would make sense. This madness has to end. GM has to take real steps to fix this NOW. I say this as a concerned partial owner along with every other tax payer in north america.

  • i said from the beginning dont give them bailout money let them go through bankruptcy. now they are going through bankruptcy after 20 billion in taxpayer money. ridiculous.

  • Search 'Taken For A Ride' on google videos

  • Gm cars are crap. I owned several and every other week i had to fix something. Not only that, when i had a problem with the new cars,i had to fight with the dealers to get them to honor the warranty. i have owned toyotas since 1986. No problems with warranty, No trips to the repair shop every week. Toyota CORRALLA 166,000 MILES AND I GAVE IT TO MY SON. TOYOTA TACOMA PICKUP TRUCK 230,000 MILES AND GAVE TO MY SON. i WOULD LOVE TO BUY AMERICAN, BUT I WONT. ITS NOT THE AUTO WORKERS FAULT, ITS MGM.

  • I want to drive a golf cart , its legal in some cities ..I really want to have a Golf Cart I can modify ...will keep me buying local ...good for the enviroment ...good for everyone ...the air ...

  • you could if you get a smart car.

  • ZipCar. Lovely idea, but don't try and make it political. People who live in cities are the WORST possible thing for the planet. The life line and tether required to keep them going is totally artificial, as everything about a city is totally artificial. There's nothing natural or sustainable about a city, and dense cities are ZipCar's raison d'tre. So now the CEO is telling us none of his clients ever ask for a pickup truck or Suburban. How green-naive.

  • I still can't imagine anyone wanting to use a zipcar in any big city because you still can't park the damn car, because there aren't enough parking spaces. Try finding a parking space in Boston; it's impossible, unless you find a fire hydrant and take a chance of getting a hefty fine.

  • That's hilarious! GM went bankrupt because NO ONE wants one!! Duh!!!

  • well at last GM are finding out the HARD way that if you make shitty cars,

    NO ONE WILL BUY THEM!

it happened in the UK with British Leyland back in the 1980's

to GM's shame they thought that "we can turn out the same old rubbish and idiots will buy them because their American"

WRONG!the Jap's and Germans make fuel efficient cars and light trucks/vans and now have the market wrapped up!

  • GM is Broke and all ppl blame is the government.

cant it be more like no one wants to buy the cars?

  • Interesting. I can't see myself ever using this but it does sound like a great option for folks who live in really big cities.

  • They went bankrupt due to Government Protectionism

People apparently can't remember how Government Protectionism destroyed TWA

  • The problem's always government intervention with libertarians, no matter how complex the issue.

  • Uhh, no, they went bankrupt because nobody wanted to throw their money in the toilet for their shitty cars.

  • GM cars are shit

    thats the reason

  • hahahahahaha

    good old gm

  • Most GM cars in the US are made in Mexico.

Most Toyota cars in the US are made in the US.

  • no... only one third of gm cars are made in foriegn countries, and in the new plan, they are planning to move that one third primarily to china

  • Better check again under the hood.

And importing GM cars from China in the future, I won't be buying GM anything. Nothing China makes lasts and they have few safety regulations so you know the vehicle will be laden with poisons.

Not good for the Chinese People not good for Americans.

  • hmmm I have to go with my gut feeling and say I neither trust what he is saying nor the man himself. BTW I live in NY.

I still don't know what living in the city has to do with driving a smaller car. WTF is the connection? It certainly isn't mileage.

  • "I still don't know what living in the city has to do with driving a smaller car. "

    Parking.

    Lane changes.

    Image.

  • thpt , you're not from a big city, are ya?

Image would not be a Cooper Mini in Manhattan. Lane Changes? What does that have to do with the price of beans?

The problem with parking is finding a spot, not so much the size and I have my own parking space. BTW I have always owned a big car. Statistics prove if you want to leave longer . . . drive a big car. Yes, I would love to own a large electric vehicle.

  • Not really. I owned a Ford Escort, and I got hit head on by a Ford Explorer. And obviously, I am still alive to tell about it.

  • Most people would rather a small, maneuverable vehicle in a city than driving some big-arsed boat of a car/SUV around... simply because it's easier; in every respect.

Since you've "always owned a big car" you obviously don't know the advantages of driving a compact in the big city.

  • TMH23, I hate when people speak for "Most people." Please do not do that. I do not drive a boat and my car has excellent maneuverability.

Do you live in a city? As I said earlier, I live in New York . To repeat, Statistics prove, beyond a show of a doubt, if you want to live longer . . . drive a big car. Do not be so presumptuous to think I have never been in a small car in the very city I live in.

  • I will speak of "most people" since the top selling car here has been the Honda civic for twelve years. Both in Canada and the US, 8 & 6 of the top ten selling cars are compact to mid-size.

So me saying 'most people' is correct.

Yes I live in a city; and it's part of my job to drive in it daily. When I'm not working I take my street bike, as it's even easier to park and get around than a car.

As for accidents, stuff happens; grow a pair.

  • TMH23, "Grow a pair?" That's what your answer is to one of the Top 10 ways of living longer? You have no idea how to have a discussion based on facts.

    Good-bye.

  • Oneoftheimmortals, No, "grow a pair" is my answer people who hide in their fat-ass car/SUV bubbles out of fear of accidents; at the expense of others.

If you're talking facts, then public transit is the safest way to go. I'd put a TO streetcar or city bus against your car and we would see who would live longer.

  • You know, public transit was in Detroit. BUT, the car companies actually paid to have it shut down. Even though public transit is safe, efficient and an excellent option (unlike GM cars), it'll never be in Detroit. The closest thing we have is the ghetto people mover which is frequented by homeless people.

  • what do you consider big enough, from safety perspective? SUV and up or mid size sedan?

I dont like small cars because I am a tall guy and can't straighten my fucking legs in a small car. I once drove a Chrysler crossfire convertible and i literally had top frame of the windshield right in front of my eyes.

  • "thpt , you're not from a big city, are ya?"

San Francisco, of the Bay Area, of CA. You might have heard of it?

Little cars are easier to maneuver into little spaces than big cars. This has nothing to do with beans. It's basic spatial relationships.
