Did R. Kelly write or produce Faith Evans' "You Used To Love Me" cause this is def that exact same beat on both their songs from '95. Just curious....
I'd say it was answer to subliminals Kim was throwing.
After 14-15 years and watching the movie "Notorious" one thing I've noticed (sorry I am slow)
The reason this music is so good from Bad Boy back then is because it was from the heart. It had serious meaning to the artists. It wasn't just for a check. They were throwing shots at each other during the verses and songs. Faith and Kim at Biggie; Biggie back at them. On so many songs with Mary J. Blige, R. Kelly and their own songs.
Hearing songs like this frustrates me. This is an amazing song, and yet, very much alike many of BIG's more quality music, it hasn't gotten the attention it needed.
Its the same beat.....I had read somewhere that Puff, B.I.G. & Kells was in the studio chillin & "You Used to Love Me" was playin. Kells wanted the beat for his album so him & BIG recorded this all in one day at the studio. "You Used to Love me" was still hot which is why this joint was never a released single
nothing subliminal about it. This is a total stab at pac. "spitting in faces and public places" thats what pac was know for back then. Im glad i experienced these legends when they were alive. I feel sorry for the new generation with this plastic gay shit they call hip hop and rap. Quality always seems to be getting worse with time.
@supersynchronicity1 Dude all Biggies disses were subliminal. . .thats how he rolled. He never mentions names and it's all down to interpretation. Trust me no one thought this was a pac diss when when it came out. Hell Pac was still in prison when this came out and he didnt really go at Biggie until he got out and signed to DR. It's only after they both got killed people started looking close at the lyrics and coming up with theories on possible subliminal disses.
I meant his solo sophomore album. Again if this was released as an single maybe they would be a few nice remixes featuring probably Ghostface Killah, Raekwon or Mobb Deep. A good video to accompany the lp and remix versions.
I don't why this wasnt released as a single. In my opinion this should had been the debut single from R. Kelly's sophomore album not the lyrically challenged song You Remind Me Of Something.
