@skipaudio welcome to the internet, just ignore the haters (leave the comments there for other tools to try and correct them, then sit back and watch, haha)
I will provide some constructive criticism. Try not to have the glidecam movements draw attention to itself. Instead of arching around the talent, just keep it steady and track them (plus try and get tighter shots, more Mid shot or cowboy shot, shallows the DOF too). Looks legit, I use a Glidecam2000 w/ HMC40.
this video was shot with the ex1 but rendered in standard definition 480p, maybe other videos shot with the ex1 are in HD 720p or 1080p here in youtube
Hey dude just be logical and think about the upload???
He didn't upload the video at a high quality that's why it looks what it looks, if he uploaded it at a higher bit rate the quality would have been much better sow don't just go and tell people how the quality should look. If he wanted to he could have used the best quality and uploaded a 1GIG file to youtube for this short thing which takes ages.
But the price of the pilot and the flyer kills the bank and watching your footage... I think Glidecam does the job fine. Do you think it will be able to support the weight of my gear. Thank you
I am thinking of buying a flyer or a Pilot, as I intend getting letus and for my PD150 which I want to exchange for an EX1. Not sure the the Pilot is going to support the extra weight since I don't want to be restricted to one lens. What do you think?
How important is the X-10 upgrade over and above the Smooth Shooter rig? Do I need it? Just wondered cuz it adds about $700 or so to the price... THanks.
i would say it is well worth the $700 more. I used the smooth shooter for about a year and when I got the x-10, it was like night and day difference. the 2 main things i liked was it was significantly smoother and the boom range is better
Great footage...very very professional... quick question: what kind of batteries do you use for the JVC HD110u...I have one but the battery only lasts me 45 mins - 1 hour...thanks...
The EX1 is a GREAT cam. And the x-10 footage on it looked amazing.Thank you for including the footage of you shooting on the x-10 at the end. Don't listen to Lumpheadwinch. He's an idiot.
thanks! ive been shooting with it for almost a year now, i refuse to shoot with the hvx, its nearly mentally impossible after using the ex1 so much ;-)
well if you put it like that, then its bad for an expensive camera. Bad luck to those who wasted all that money, bet your kicking yourselfs now they are pretty much obselete. Sony have a habit of doing things like that.
If you have a smaller size camera, i would go with the pilot. the iso-elastic arm is way better than glidecam's arm. I am buying the flyer pretty soon b/c of its way nicer than the x-10 will ever be. but i will say that the x-10 is really awesome for the price. I have enjoyed using it.
La Ex-1 es mucho mejor que la HVX, de todas maneras. LA EX-1 es una CineAlta de gama baja. Esta pensada para eso. Creo que a Panasonic y sus camaras prosumer le falta observar los detalles que tienen las demas camaras.
True. But you can make videos look pretty nice on here too. If you're using Apple Compressor, compress the footage to H.264 for Apple TV. The picture comes out crystal clear on youtube. Looks great.
What do you mean? Have you seen the HD footage uncompressed? Also, make sure you watch it in High Quality.
The PMW-EX1 shoots beautiful footage and I have the same setup as you! It's great but I'm also waiting on my Letus Extreme, which should be the best thing ever!
nice work! i just got an ex1. how do you get such a smooth image and not a stuttery frame. all my footage is all jagged when something moves into frame or when i move the camera fast. its weird
thanks, im not sure, i use compressor to compress into iphone format and youtube automatically does the high quality version for me... i dont do anything special.
the glidecam does work well! what color correction did you use and whats your pictures profile here? cheers!

@sparrow2a i don't think i color corrected it. the pic profile was on standard :)

STEADICAM FOR LIFE !!!

Well I suppose it depends on the look you want. and the budget.
I actually prefer the glidecam's subtle imperfections in many cases.

Great footage, love the use of framing the man in the womans car window as you run on the side and capture both of them in a visualy fun moment.

nice vid! but i am troubled by the problem of how can the hd source vid of mp4 type be edited, what software do you recommend?
liwendong2005 3 years ago
xdcam format kinda sucks to edit. i wish that you could ingest as prores 422, that would be much better to edit with.
skipaudio 3 years ago
I love the vid, love the technique, I guess the EX1 is the best option out there for tapeless recording
mahamza86 3 years ago
I'm sure this footage looks great on an HD monitor but on YouTube it looks like it could have been shot with a PD-150, even in High Quality.

yes that is a correct observation.

Could the glidecam take the weight of a Letus Extreme + EX1 setup?
Mediaclick7 3 years ago
yes definitly, I have used the red rocks adaptor with the hvx on it, and the hvx is (i think) heavier than the ex1

thanks, i am using a glidecam x-10 stabalizer. some of the footage is a little motion blurry but thats b/c of the 24p.
skipaudio 3 years ago
You probably don't have the shutter on. Look at the front of the camera and turn the shutter switch to on.
Use 1/48 for 24fps and 1/60 for 30 fps for stability.
