  • SON...you have a bomb in the back of your truck!

  • Lol!! Driving alongside the R/R crossing blowin' the horn - PRICELESS!

  • Lots of amps to run three pumps, nice setup tho

  • so...you live in tucker georgia...matthews is my favorite restaraunt(parking lot where the video was taken)

  • @blkchevy0715 I do live in Tucker, so you might see me, eh hear me, around town.

  • Someone cut this guy off one too many times. rotfl

  • Nice horn one of best I've heard on YouTube

  • 4:36 Lol :D

  • ебнутые однако)

  • That would scare the shit out of ya, lol. Going down the interstate, train, where? XD

  • a quienes no les gusta es porque no vieron completo el video que buena idea pasar paralelo a las vias

  • Was anyone else expecting a cool Doppler effect on the first drive by?

  • BORED

  • Nice setup, perfect sized tank :) I work at an AAR licensed shop that rebuilds these, testing sets bi-weekly. You dont just hear them, you feel them ;]

  • How loud is that in the passenger compartment of that vehicle? I'm considering a project like this with my truck and I'll have the horns mounted under the front engine compartment area and was just curious. Your setup sounds sweet, though! Thanks!

  • @slash9dotnet Not too bad if the windows are up, but even a slight crack at any of the windows and it's deafening. It would be better to have it mounted under the hood, or otherwise concealed (I'd definitely blow it more) but regardless of being under the hood, under the engine, or under the chassis, if your windows are down, you're gonna do some damage to your hearing....it's just THAT loud.

  • I've got three compressors set up now, all viair, 1 380, and 2 450s, with 3 manual toggle switches rather than an automatic on/shut off. Allows me to keep the air at optimal psi and allows me to turn on and off any compressor at any time. With all three compressors running, I can go from, for example, 130 to 140 psi in under 2 minutes with the 30 gallon tank.

  • The first part of the recording, where you start laying on the horn sent shivers down my spine. I used to want to pick up a Leslie 3 chime, but man, now I cant get your K 5 chime out of my head! Beautiful sir! Well done.

  • Whered you get the bumper sticker??

  • @fixierider97 I designed the bumper sticker and had a company make me 20 of them. Sold them all on eBay. I recently saw someone else did the same thing a few months ago. If you're interested, I'd keep searching there.

  • @fixierider97 did you ever get a response on those nathan stickers?

  • gotta love amtrak's horns

  • loose the music, can't even make through george to hear horn.

  • NOW that's a TRUE foamer!!!!

  • Always possible, but limit your psi to the rating on the tank and put a T-fitting in with a safety release valve and it shouldn't be an issue. I've experienced probably a 20-30 psi increase, possibly more, from the closed vehicle sitting in the sun, but with a proper release valve, you should be fine. I'm always more worried about a hose splitting or sliding off the fitting-wouldn't blow up, but I wouldn't want to be driving with the sound coming outta that hose!

  • @thehappycrab How long does it take for the onboard compressor to the fill the tank and can it keep up with the air requirements the horn need's? What size pump is that?

  • Hey man. Be honest with me. I'm thinking about getting some with a 5 gallon air tank. Now do I have to worry about this tank exploding of pressure or heat while I'm driving? I've been wondering!

  • @ 4:36, I bet people are like "WTF? Where's the train at? Oh sh*t! Must be a f*ckin ghost train!" XD

  • ive got to get my self one of them lol

  • Air chimes don't score chicks Barney rims do

  • Holy shit, a decent sound HL.

  • How much you pay for this Horn in Dollar ??

  • you are a badass to drop more than a grand on a sweet horn

  • whats the point?

  • @TheDonmaster99 What's the point in you watching the video?

  • @tksemipro i think its cool but why

  • can we just hear the damn horns>?

  • I'll save 4 minutes of your life.. 4:00

  • @tehpwn3dlife THanks.. wish I seen ur post earlier lol

  • Man i wish i could afford a set of these for my Dodge Ram but on E5 pay there's no way in hell i could ever get em.

  • how many db do you think that is?

  • loud...i love it

  • ELIMINATE STUPID MUSIC; SOUND HORN ONLY!!!!!!

  • Possibly, the video was shot in downtown Tucker, I live there.

  • If you are located in Atlanta, then I saw you parked in the Briarcliff Village shopping center sometime within 6-9 months or so. Am I right?

  • yay for no gas millage :P

  • I would love to have a setup like this here in Colorado. Maybe then it would wake up the slow ass sleepy drivers.

  • @UAL012 people are not slow sleepy they are stoned man...its colorado pot is legal there

  • Why is everyine talking about all this crazy shit like psi and all these numbers.... its a horn....

  • I guess the horns are nice, but why put them on such a grocery getter vehicle???

  • @critt5050 Cause they'd look even worse on my Vette.

  • @thehappycrab -great answer!!!

  • @thehappycrab nice...lol

  • @thehappycrab I think this is the perfect vehicle for such a horn! I'm gonna buy a roof rack for my CRV JUST to mount a train horn on top!

  • @critt5050 plus why make the vid so long we only want to heard the horn

  • Thanks for the reply back dude, yeah, I think there is a significant pitch drop in the K5H @ pressures at or below 125 psi compared to 145 to 150psi. That is my own opinion anyway. Understand the length of 3/4" pipe from the tank to the valve in my van is almost 20ft! So, as pressure drops in the tank, the long hose run quickly drops the pitch of the horn when air pressure gets down to around 125psi. I also have an EMD bell mounted under my van,it also has a long run of 1/8" hose to the valve.

  • Good job dude, I run a 40 gallon tank, with an air-cooled emglo 150psi compressor, it draws about 30 amps. I run 3/4" hose all the way to the Graham-White loco valve mounted in the cab of my 1990 GMC 3/4 ton Conversion Van, I also have a K5H on the roof, it's been there for 9 years. The horn sounds the best at 140psi & above, there is a significant pitch drop at air pressure around 120psi. I liked your video!

  • @K5H13760 Sounds like a nice set-up. 9 years?! I'm sure you have some stories to tell. I haven't noticed a drop in pitch without a significant drop in pressure. I recently bought a db meter to test various sound levels at different distances and tank psi's. Always a work in progress, happy honking!

  • That air pump should REALLY have some active cooling on it! It doesn't look like the heavy duty cycle ones that make Viair makes.

I mean, that pump is going to be on for like 15 minutes to pump up that entire tank.

Does it ever shut off because the thermal protection trips?

  • Hey Danwat,

That viair 380 ran for about 20 minutes to go from 115 to 145 psi. It never shut down due to heat. About 6 months ago, I added two viar 480s, and now have manual switches to run all three compressors. I also added a five chime leslie and installed a second manual valve, but recently took the leslie off and sold it. CSX recently gave me a 3 bell and 5 bell Leslie, and I'm in the process of putting one of those on, facing rearward.

  • @thehappycrab Yes,bring on the Leslie's too :)

  • your neighbors must love u lol

  • I would so have fun with that ;)

  • Doesn't it sound like a train when you drive through town and use it? Maybe you should reserve that function for when you come behind a distracted driver.

  • 4:06 was wasted on a bad song...The good stuff only lasted 42 seconds...Great Chimes...Lousy song...

  • Nice but the only problem is you really can't be mysterious about who did it on the road. With those giant things on the top people are for sure going to know who did it.

  • holy fucking shit... go to a city in a massive traffic jam, and show all the little car squeakers who's big daddy. please post move public performance videos.

  • Whats the key's of each horn ? Do you know ? Also, what is a 1L bell.

  • @rlunderhill I used to know the keys of each bell, these are numbered 1,2,3,4, and 1L. The 1L bell is the larger bell, and my particular bell is a sand cast 2-piece model. I believe it refers to a lower pitch, but in my opinion, it ought to mean LOUD!

  • 4:37-4:43 is how it should sound! Great horn!

  • 30 gallon wow, i have the 5 gallon, and are those hair nets on the horns, i need something like that for mines

  • how do i install one of these?

  • NICEEEEEEE

  • 4:37 classic lol

  • You only have one compressor on that massive tank? How many compressors have you gone through? I have an air bagged truck that has been bagged for a year and have already replaced the 2 compressors I have for my 12 gallon tank

  • Hey Willmont85, I did have one 380, but recently added two 480s-with all three running, I can actually watch the needle on the pressure gauge move. Plus, I'm not sure how much you're using your compressors-mine don't run very often.

  • @thehappycrab oh ok yeah I have 2 480s and they run quit often cause I play with my switches quite often so they tend to run pretty often how much air does a replicated train blast (two short one long or whatever combo it is) consume and what presure is your pressure switch set at

  • I used to have the compressors set for on at 115/off at 145, but I recently set up manual on/off switches for each compressor, so I always keep it at about 150. My relief valve is set at 175 and has only gone off once when I parked at the airport in the sun. A good 5 second blast drops the tank about 10-15 lbs, but that's generally enough to get someone's attention. You got any videos of your truck?

  • @thehappycrab No i sure dont I wanted to put some up after I got it bagged but the fuel pump went out shortly there after and basically rendered my air system usless as there is no power to it cause the compressors draw a good little bit so it would tank the battery in a hurry

  • What a tool!!! LOL!

  • I really enjoyed the "tour" of your horn with the bad to the bone playing and then I howled when your "train engine" came driving down the road! thanks for the video

  • sorry man but kinda over kill for such a small vehicle

  • @DJ4000VOLT if you think so, then dont check out the honda civic vid or the scion...

  • WOW! I've got to get myself one of those!

  • Srry my timing was off

  • Srry but if you did more than just film 2 mins of what it looks like and 30 secs of it working I would rate higher. It would have been funny as shit scaring people with yours. So far from what I've seen urs is the loudest. So scare ppl

  • george thoroughhorn music no doubt....!!!!!!

  • Great video.Super car :)

  • is this what's found on GEVOs?

  • is it legal ? :D what do you do when police stops you for that big sound? :D

  • In Georgia, the law says it's illegal to "harass, intimidate, or annoy" with a horn. You can do that with any horn, but it's a lot easier to get cited when your horn sets on top of your car and can be heard from a mile away! My response, should I ever get stopped, is it's all in the name of Safety-for the driver with the pumping bass or the driver with the cell phone stuck in his ear....can you hear me now?

  • Can someone tell me were I can get a set. I went to the website but I can't find were to buy them.

  • eBay has individual horns, as well as complete set ups with tank, compressor, horn, hoses, fittings and electrical.

  • @thehappycrab also, where did you get your 30 gallon tank, and how much was it. If you do not mind me asking. I am runing 2-10 gallon tanks right now.

  • @thehappycrab also, where did you get your 30 gallon tank, and how much was it. If you do not mind me asking. I am runing 2-10 gallon tanks right now.

  • I searched craigslist for sales of broken compressors where the compressor engine had failed but the tank was still good. My 30 gallon tank was $40 but I had someone else give me a 26 and a 12 gallon for free. Most people with a big broken compressor just want it gone so they have room for a new one.

  • @thehappycrab Thank's for the info. I will def check out "craig's"

  • LOVE IT but are you sure it's safe to have the tank psi. maxed out like that?

  • 30 gallon tank at 145 psi-tank is probably fine-it's psi rating is much lower than what it can actually handle. I have a 175 blow-off valve and the lines are rated at 175 as well. In over a years time, I've had the blow off valve spring once when the car sat in the hot sun, so I know the whole system was pushed to about 175 and held up fine. Famous last words....it's safe!

  • @thehappycrab I have a question. I have a leslie RS-3L and I am running the same horn lever with i/s inch line and inlets into the handle. I am running 140 PSI which is a bit much for the leslie, but yet with this new handle it doesn't work all too well. Only 2 horns are working now, and last night I ran it fine with the trusty 1/2 ball valve. Is there a way to adjust the horn lever? Mine is also a little hard to pull.

  • @CSXtrackworker

Hi CSX tw, I'm not aware of an adjustment feature, perhaps someone rebuilt the valve and used the wrong parts. I'd disconnect the outlet hose at the valve and check the airflow by pulling up on the handle. Although you'd thinkthe vavle is fully manual, mine appears to be two-stage. At the second stage at that psi, the air coming out of the valve is scary and loud-if yours isn't, I'd try another valve-let me know what you find.

  • @thehappycrab Thankyou for getting back to me. I actually found the problem. It has a double spring inside of it, so I removed the thicker spring and left the looser one inside, and now the horn lever is easy to pull, and now all three trumpet's on my Leslie RS-3L chime in now.. The prob before was that it was very hard to operate the lever, and it wasn't allowing the vavlve inside to open fully, and so not enough air was getting through. Thankgod it was something minor!!

  • bad to the bone on a rav 4!!! sik brahski

  • bahaha! love it dude. great music intro

  • You are not f#@king around with a 30 gal. tank at 145 psi. I ove it.

  • Where did you get the "Nothing blows like a Nathan Airchime" Bumper sticker?? Any help will be greatly appreciated. thanx

  • I wouldn't feel comfortable with a tank on the brink of its PSI capacity in the backseat...

  • The song says it all!!!!!!!!!!! Great job! I have so much respect for someone who is never satisfied with stock, not to mention mounting a set of Nathan's on the roof of a Toyota! SWEET!

  • HAHAHAHAHA.. THATS THE FUNNIEST ! good work.. i would love to install one of these horns on my car if i knew how !!

  • very nice dude

  • Sick nasty! I really want to get either a K3LA or K3HA for my bike. There are so many idiots on the road that cut me off and illegally pass me and I want to scare the crap out of them with something more than a small compressed gas airhorn.

  • You should go to a town where there's a whistle ban and blow the horn. Since you don't work for the railroad they can't do anything :P

  • Yeah they can. It's called disturbing the peace and breaking a sound ordinance.

  • Depends on the town. A town may have a light noise ordinance (aka only applies certain hours) but a whistle ban.

  • My mom drives that same car LOL. But she needs a K5LLA on it

  • one time my friend was driving a train and a bird flew in his horn

  • "K5HL S10" You should see my run bys with my K6HL with the 2 piece 1L bell like yours, if you need parts, let me know whats going on..

  • wtf, i didn't watch it all, 2 minutes of the song and camera panning around was enough for a vote of Fail. blow the got damn horn for fucks sake. It's not a movie, its a freakin train horn on a car.

  • I'm guessing you blow through yellow lights too. In your honor, I've just posted a WTF Blow the Horn Already version.

  • I like the Canadian tuned horn very nice

  • The mesh grille is a good idea!

  • How can you tell the difference between this and the K5LA?

  • I mean you know... Sound wise.

  • Not easy to tell the difference unless you hear them side by side. To me, the 1 and 1L bells on my horn sound a little harsher than the more melodious tone of a nice sounding K5LA.

  • i like these horns, but idont like the gevos that they are put on, my favorite nathan airchime horn is the old cast second generation p3

  • @thehappycrab very nice I have allways loved those horns I own an oldcast Nathan P5 off a scrapped out NS unit..good idea mounting it on that rack like that I am haveing a special mount built for mine welded to my headache rack which is steel but to light for the horn

  • Hi There, I am looking at a Nathan P5, and i was interested to see how you ran your compressor? That is an awesome set up! Christian

  • Very cool! Where in the world did you get a K5HL?

  • my source for everything-eBay!

  • Nice K5, I have a K3LA on dodge dually. I have 2 Viair 380s and a 9 gallon tank. The real valve is a must, i wouldn't even bother with a solenoid .

That was ballsy blast in town, with it mounted on the roof!

I love poping mine off a RR xings....mines more covert install than yours...lol

    Later

  • Thanks for the compliment, I wish I had the room of a big dodge, inside the cab, in the bed, and somewhere to hide the horn. I do, however, get some onlookers that otherwise wouldn't know it existed if it was concealed. Few people even looked over when I did that final blast though, they're so used to hearing it anyway. Plus it was Sunday morning, I think most people were in church-happy honking...

  • Where can I find one of the horn levers and all of the parts to go along with it?

  • The Graham White manual valve can be found on eBay, hoses and fittings at Home Depot or similar store.

  • Thats one bad ass horn

  • now find some stupid road side protesters

  • GEVO!! HAHA

  • Congratulations Nathan AirChime K5HL Train Horn in relation to the compressor how it works and that makes it takes much time to fill. Great post. I am Brazilian

  • OMG hahaha you are great man!!

  • what compresser are you using

  • Just one 380 Viair. Takes about 20 minutes to fill the 30 gallon tank from 115psi to 145 psi. Definitely could use a second one, or at least a toggle switch to kill/start the compressor when needed.

  • Not sure on the wire mesh, found it at a garage sale, traced it with a marker, cut it with tin snips, and bent it over the front of the bells. Made the bumper sticker based on a Nathan Airchime designed box. Got one available on ebay right now.

  • where did u get ur horns at i cant find none like that for sell anywhere

  • ebay has a bunch in 3k, 5k, 3p, 5p and m series horns-an older k5 or m probably sounds the best!

  • OMFG that funny

  • This would be so awesome, I would love to drive through a trailer park late at night and blow the horn.

  • very very cool ass set up. nice. and i mean right down to the "real" Graham White modulating whistle valve from Salem, VA. lol wow im impressed.

  • woooow big horn.Super.great

  • Designed it based on a Nathan box I had and then had a company make about 10 of them-I may still have a few to sell via eBay.

  • i got same setup sounds beutiful you horns

  • WOW

  • That is the type of horn that GEVO's have on them.

  • and K5HLL on newer GEVOs

  • You're a riot. What do the neighbors and the cops say?

    That's a cool accessory.

  • Cops don't say much. Neighbors? Umm, I think they'd like to see a "for sale" sign go up in my yard.

  • lol

  • Isn't this the type of horn preferred by the Canadian railroads?

  • I'm not sure, Atlantans prefer them though.

  • Im Guessing Atlantans are NY NJ MA FL and such

  • @ACLTony Its not preffered by Canada, its just canadian tuned.

  • Thanks UPman, understood.

  • WHAT COPS SAY?

  • only one to say anything asked "is that a train horn" and then wanted to hear it. I let him get a few cars ahead of me before I blew it-he gave me thumbs up and moved on...

  • $500 tiket in florida i got onwed big time

  • Whoa! Details Please?! What kind of set up and where'd you honk it at-an outdoor funeral?? What was the charge on the ticket?

  • $500 tiket or maibe jail i not sure but i dont sound me train horn much any more

i got 2 set of nathan p5 plus big tank 250 galons air and igot $ 1000 fine tiket for play at the mall in the teather jajajjajaja

  • wow nice opening now this is where you say now its time to have some fun hahahah

  • theres a set of K5LA's on ebay right now...

how much did you spend on your whole setup? im looking to put a set on my 1991 dodge cummins diesel haha

  • a good price on a k5la is about 650-750, valve 80-100, tank-look for a blown compressor with a good tank on craigslist, might pick up a 20 gallon for $40, compressor-about $200, hoses, wiring, etc, another$20-30. I've mounted a Leslie RS5T facing the other way, so now I've got two horns on it, and 3 more in the garage...

  • Video of RS5T or ban hammer.

  • how lond does it take to fill up your tank with your viair

  • Just the one 380C at the moment, takes about 30 minutes from 110psi back to 145psi-could definitely use a pair of 450s to supplement the 380.

  • That is just awesome!!!!!!! Definately freak some people out with that.Especially those on their cell phones!!!!

  • Thanks Brian! I'm a day away from installing a Leslie RS-5T facing the other way-probably take me a while to upload a video-but safe to say I'll be waiting for those tailgaters...

  • Yeah too bad you cant get a video of their facial expressions!

  • lol, the best is at the end when you're beside the train tracks. If anyone was around they're probably like "wtf that aint no train"

  • GEVO horn

  • That's what K5HL horns are called

  • Love it!!

The K5H is my favorite among Nathans

  • and how do you not have any leaks????

  • Thanks for the compliment. I used teflon tape and I keep a 5/16 socket and wrench with me at all times!!!

  • you have an awesome set up man. GODLIKE is a better word.
