@girardbcp He doesn't "forget" Smoot-Hawley, which he discusses in his scholarly work, which you haven't read. What is it you think Hoover did that made GDP go down? I'd really love to hear. How is it different from what FDR did? Specifics, please. And don't say Hoover didn't do anything, since that would make you look like an idiot.
Thank goodness for people like Prof. Folsom who give us something other than the usual propaganda.
@girardbcp GDP is a lousy measure of an economy's health. Government spending never produces any wealth, yet it is considered in this statistic. Production in the private sector is the important statistic, along with unemployment.
@girardbcp Well you're right about one thing, FDR wasn't loved for nothing, he was loved for his powers of propaganda and a slew of propagandists praising his name since then.
My God, what is it going to take for people to realize that Keynes was an abject idiot!?

Did Professor Folsom forget about 1930-1932 the GDP fell 30% (-8.6, -6.5, -13.1 respectively)
but after FDR was elected GDP shot up 10.9% in 34, 8.9 in 35 and 13 in 35?
Does he forget that the Smoot-Hawley tarriff was passed by Republicans and this was before FDR?
Hoover wasn't hated, and FDR wasn't loved for nothing.
