hmmm... I have a problem. I upgraded from a 17" non lcd monitor to a 19" SOYO DYLM1986 and now I cant play bf2, and joint operations wont accept a higher res that 1280x768. I'm using a VGA cable because it didnt come with the DVI one, would that be the reason of the problem??? or it just sucks....
This would be a good tv for a bedroom, but only one HDMI, that's sucks if you have multiple HD devices in the bedroom. But overall I agreem with 3Dgameman.
I REALLY like Samsung LCDs. Pretty much all of my display technologies (television, computer monitor, etc.) is from Samsung. I have had televisions from all companies and Samsung has been by far the best in my opinion.
AFAIK the TV is capable of rendering the 1080i input by scaling the picture down. You won't notice it as the pixel/cm^3 ratio would be higher than your normal TV.
You would also notice it is using the 16:10 aspect ratio, not the 16:9 widescreen standard.
rodney, i like the info you put up on the description. BUT, i'd really like if you started posting up the link to show us the price of the product or just tell us the price of the product at the time of review. :)
lol S-video on a TV thats rare in the UK cus we get scart that isnt as good as S-video but we do have RGB Scart that puts Svideo to shame but that looks like a grate TV
if i remember right soyo build there own TV just the panels they buy from other companies but thats what most of the smaller companies do now as its cheaper for them instead of making poor panels like some companies do.
Yeah I would imagine there is only a handfull of companies actually build LCD panels. Just like CRTs there was only like what 3 or 4 companies making tubes? GE, Mitsubishi, Sony and... well thats the main ones. RCA for example used GE tubes IIRC. I think Samsung makes most of the LCD display panels used. Acer and BenQ for example use them for the most part. We used to sell Soyo LCDs where I work and they where okay given the price.
You can get around the 1 HDMI connection by using a receiver and putting all your cables to the receiver. Looks neater too when you dont have a bunch of cables hanging from the TV. Cheers!
Why isn't one HDMI connection enough? I also noticed that this TV doesn't have component connections, but usually one HDMI input is enough. If you have a kickass amp, usually it will do the switching for you.
Well sire I have four HDMI on my VO47L has four HDMI and with two PC's and 360/PS3 tossing it 1080p, I wish I had a fifth for the DVD player but I use the comp for that anyway. So, you can NEVER have more thna enough of ANY connection. Not in my eyes.
At least he take the info and puts it in sentences along with a video of the product,so it makes it more interesting. Not all of us likes to read huge ass or tiny with loaded info boards.

No component input?

DeXeSs 3 years ago
720i simply means it's interlaced. So yes, it does exist. Not really a commonly used standard, but definetly exists.

Doesnt 1080i scale to half that?
tvdownloads 3 years ago
there is a difference between 1080i and 1080p
3dlegoman 3 years ago
Yes, 1080i refreshes half of the horizontal lines every cicle, when 1080p does all of them.
It's ""capable"" of 1080i because it cuts off 30 pixels, or resizes the image, f*cking everything up.

The monitor scales down the image to fit the screen, the monitor doesn't actually have 1920x1080 pixels
