After the fuel probe separates and a mist of gas sprays the planes windshield, does the spray of fuel leave an oily residue on the windshield making it difficult to see?
@sanfranciscobay No, because the mist particles are very light and traveling in a horizontal trajectory, thus they don't penetrate the boundary layer. Perhaps you have seen tests in wind tunnels when they spray smoke on the models? The smoke goes around the model, right? If the particles were heavier and falling vertically, they would hit the windshield and leave a residue, exactly like rain.
The Air Guard in Madison, WI used to fly A-10's before they received F-16's. I enjoyed watching them fly right over my house. Sometimes they'd be so low you didn't hear them until they where flying away.
image radio-ing in "GIMMIE ALL YOUR FULL OR WE'LL SHOOT YA'll TANKS!............please?" "radio back "no" A-10 says TAKE GAU-8 POWER AND PLUMMET TO TEH GROUND BELOW........... *shoots fuel tanks*
OH, and fuck boomers...I've seen them cause a shit ton of damage. Holed a nose fairing panel on an A-10, cracked a windshield wash nozzle on an A-10, cracked/dented panels on E models...
Hehehe, starting at 1:00 the pilot in the A-10 is screaming for the tanker to slow down more. Still boggles my mind they have to slow to fill us up...
@Orangebike666 It's more like an "Armed Robbery with a Gun Enhancement" since there is no assault, just a Robbery of its fuel and threatening pointing of a gun as use of force to get the fuel.
Penal Code 211 PC California's robbery law punishes the crime of taking someone else's property from the person's body or immediate possession, when accomplished by force or fear. This is a felony offense, punishable by two to nine years in the state prison
Penal Code 417 PC California’s "brandishing a weapon" law prohibits "drawing, exhibiting, or using a firearm or deadly weapon". If you "brandish" a weapon or firearm in a rude, angry, or threatening manner, prosecutors could charge you with this offense.
It isn’t necessary that you actually intend to cause any harm or that the alleged victim even sees your weapon. The crime is complete once you draw, exhibit, or use the weapon in a rude, angry, or threatening manner.
Considering that there are no AIM-9s and someone's allowed to handy cam the sortie, I'm guessing this is a training flight over UTAH or so. GBUs possibly for dry/live practice.
A-10 was obviously still on its way to its target, 2 Paveway Laser guided bombs still under the wings with a LANTIRN pod or targeting pod of some kind under its starboard wing lol
@whitewingsrich Yeah, obviously. Or it could be RTB without dropping the ordinance. Way to go, Capt. Obvious, they don't have to drop their bombs to return home mission complete.
It's a hoot to watch a 135 refuel A-10's. the tanker actually has to drop so much flap and slow down so much you wonder how much longer you can stay aloft, due to the A-10 being so slow.

Forget the fighters, I have wanted to fly an A-10 since I was a kid. Sadly, my eyesight disqualifies me from flight school.

We can refuel flying guns in the air now? O_O

@Orangebike666 Here is what the A10 is guilty of:
Penal Code 211 PC California's robbery law punishes the crime of taking someone else's property from the person's body or immediate possession, when accomplished by force or fear. This is a felony offense, punishable by two to nine years in the state prison

“Personal use of a firearm” sentencing enhancements:
Penal Code 12022 PC -- Being armed with a firearm or using a dangerous or deadly weapon during the commission of a felony
Penal Code 12022.2 PC -- Possessing ammunition designed to penetrate metal or armor during the commission of a felony
That A10 is now in a heck of a lot of trouble.
