So many redundancies are going through, everyone's losing their jobs including myself and I know that people all over the world are listening to you, I certainly am. God bless you and your families and I wish everyone the best through this terribly difficult time.

  • Very moving :(

I'm sure this will touch many people.

  • You guys are so brave for saying this and putting it up on the internet. Now everyone else in a simillar situation to you wont feel alone or abondoned by the government. Congratulations. You should feel really proud of yourselves.

  • Omg after seeng this on 20/20 I feel so priveledged to live here in NZ.

I also feel for the families who's had to lose their homes because of the down fall of the U.S economy.

Celebrities and the wealthy folks should form an alliance to help their people rather than being stuck up and selfish.

Good on Barrack for making a move and doing something good .. good start for being president lol

    Love from New Zealand !

    xx

  • Hey, I just saw this video on 20/20 here in New Zealand. I just thought you guys were so brave to do this, to let people see how you really feel, to stand up and be the voice for the people.

I was homeless for about two years, and the reality of it is scary, but you can get through these tough times and come out on top, a stronger person.

    Hold on. People ARE listening.

  • Saw this in New Zealand.. and made me cry

    Good luck with everything xx

  • I know that things are much worst in america than things are here in new zealand, I admire all the strength and dignity all of you are showing, and i hope that things get better for you all over there, These words might not be much comfort to you, but keep in mind that things will get better, hang in there :)

  • Omg after watching this vid, it makes me feel so priveledged to live in New Zealand. After it had just aired on 20/20 minutes ago my heart just raced....Can't believe this is actually happening in a continent like the U.S.God bless those children and good on you Barrack for giving them hope..so far so good as a president..

The wealthy people;actors/celebrities should get togeather and form an alliance to help their nation out instead of being stuck up .

    Love from NZ!

  • Young people: Stay in school. Don't just get by with average grades. Excell. Gain additional skills. The more educated and skilled you are, the less likely you will suffer in trying times like these. Eventually, another economic crash will occur...and you'll be the head of the family. Plan ahead now. Plan for success. Don't start a family until you have set your life on track. I'm glad these kids are AP students because it shows that they are already aware of what I'm saying here.

  • i was impresed..

and obama commented on this vidio...

    i heard it on speaches.

you guys really made your voice be hear.

  • You can do it. I know it tough, but in years past when things were hard, there were people who found a way. There is a scientific study of how flies are put in a jar and screen over the top. They tried to fly out and after many tries over three days, they stop trying. The scientist then takes the cloth off and they stay there. But some fly out. We need to see what those flies did that was different. Be one of those that fly out. You can do it.

  • This just aired on 20/20 via sky news here in Sydney Australia where I live and go to school. I'd hear news of the economy everywhere i go,but we're lucky here. Its not even close to bad. There are jobs everywhere for those willing to work. So i was ignorant to it all.

I cant believe this is happening in USA. I cried and cried that good ,honest people could be doing so bad.

Especially to kids. Just like me.

I pray you all overcome this and land on your feet.

    And Barack, mate,fix this. Now.

  • Now i am so happy that i ma living in Germany

here it is not that hard like in the USA

    actually nothing has realy changed

i hope that things in America get better

    we wish you the best

ps: gosh my english is horrible

  • Thank you for educating me & helping me realize what people here locally in California are going through due to the Economic crisis.

Keep making socially conscious film. Raising awareness is the first-step & key in the fight against the struggle.

Stay FOCUSED on your education as much as you can. It must be so hard. But if you want to alleviate stress off of the shoulders of your loved ones, it will help to reach financial freedom so you can help with those monetary burdens.

  • People are listening!

Although it might be of little help now, I believe that even bad things can lead to great achievements down the line. Many great entrepreneurs for example said many years after being layed off that they would have to thank their old boss for firing them.

My family was doing well and then lost a lot. In retrospect it helped me become who I am instead of turning into a spoiled brat.

In days like these people buying yachts or Porsches should be ashamed of themselves.

  • I´ve seen a report of you on german TV. I wish i could help you, but, hmm :-/

Don´t give up, things will get better :-)...

    Greetings from Germany,

    Chris

  • my name is dennis, from Bavaria, Germany. I saw your video first time today on the ARD, one of the most popular German TV channels and I was very impressed. What you do is wonderful! In Germany many jobs are in danger, too. I know many families who a depending of the jobs of one man/woman and so they have a big problem know... And so I know that the only way through a situation like that is peaceful protest and VERY good friends. I'm sure you'll do your way!

  • Hey,

I've seen a documetary about and your video on an german tv program...

    it's sad to see that!

    Good luck from GER!

  • I know how you guys feel. I am finishing High School this year and I want to go on to University. But I cant, because my parents cant afford it. I am going straight from High School into work and that scares me, because we moved from South Africa to Australia to make a better life and now we are struggling. I am scared for my generation. Thank you for speaking up.

  • i saw this on 20/20

  • Its very exciting to know YOUNG scholars are producing and taking action during these difficult times! Ganas is everything!

Viva Marco Antonio Firebaugh and the Democratic Party...

  • My name is Oliver, from Hong Kong, China. I watched the ABC boardcast on HKTVB-Pearl Channel tonite and learned that you share this on youtube.

In HK, there are also many people like you losing their jobs, homes and struggling on the edge. However, we may have no home, but we still have families. We may have no jobs, but we still have the courage to live, the skills to survive. We may have not enough food, but we stills have our strong wills to make the world change. Make you days!

  • I've watched this clip on German TV. A very good comment. Nothing to add. Well done!

  • Thank you, know people are listening. I only hope and pray that all of you and your families will emerge from this really bad situation strong and victorious. I really do believe that help is on the way to people who are struggling like your families and you will see better days ahead.

  • Don't give up guys....Good luck

  • i saw this on 20/20 it was so sad.

i told my class. i go to an all girls school. and we all cried.

  • same, that's how i found out about this video. and we are all listening now.

  • Smithfield Foods, CEO total compensation last year was almost $5 million. This year the company is laying off 1800 employees and closing 6 plants. CEO calls himself talented and earned his pay? Hum? Guess he hasn't seen this video huh. Overpaid CEO's over the past decade are the reason for employees loosing their jobs today and have little to no savings built up. I say get rid of wall street and the market. Make companies rely on private investing only, no more public stock. Strange, can it work

  • STILL better than Mexico

  • You have identified the error in relativism my friend. Suffering is suffering is suffering.

  • IM a parent with 3 children and we live in CANADA were going through the same thing im loosing my vision form diabeties, wife just lost her job,and we lucky if we can pay our next morgage.your vidoe made me cry had 2 leave the house didnt want kids or wife to see me.

    BEST WISHES DAD

  • My family lost our house two years ago and I've been living with my grandma now in Georgia.

I'm dropping out of school to try and help support.

I hope this gets better. I can't do this alone.

  • Everyone is listening and we all would like to help but most of us are just like you and can do nothing about the economy.

  • Join the military

  • I know it is hard out there i personally have put off graduating college and extended my graduation day a semester because whats the point?People just aren't hiring. If i hurry up and graduate i won't have a job and i'll have to pay back student loans.I have like 20 friends that graduated 08" may and still haven't found jobs. And i'm in Houston...we are suppose to be doing better then most cities. It's just a sad situation and we all need to work together in this country to get things going again.

  • My dad is the vice princapal and this story always makes me think of what it is like to be poor.

  • I am a 4th grade teacher in

Thank you for being the voice of many families in America.

  • This is the most incredible video on YouTube. Kids you did an outstanding job and my hat is off to Mr. Steinman for asking the questions. There is barely anyone who is not affected by this economy, but your stories really make America stand up and listen. I'm hoping something really good comes of your publishing your stories.

  • Amazing video. Thank you for creating this. It brings the crisis home and no longer allows it to be just a news story. It's as real as it gets. Thank you and good luck to all the students. Your strength and courage are very inspiring.

  • You guys rock! I live in Pomona, CA and am so proud that these kids from this city has done a great service to our country. Looking forward more videos. Good Luck to these students. I saw this on The View.

  • This morning I will be grateful for the butter in my fridge and my piece of bread. I have been complaining about everything. You make me humble. And this teacher is a great one! School is becoming a safe place for the kids and government better understand it and support it if they can not support each family.

  • Remember this; NEVER vote Republican. This is the 3rd great depression in 100 years.

  • I totally understand what youre saying, I mean my little cousin who is just 7 years old wants to become a doctor, and after she watched this video with me, she started crying and she asked me if she would make it, and I couldnt answer her because of the current situation in our economy.Almost everyone in this country (U.S.A.) is affected by this, and we all think that this is just temporary, but if we dont do anything about it, we could be going back to The Great Depression.

  • i saw this on the news and i cant watch it without crying

  • i just saw this on the news and looked it up :) GJ VMAC :, )

  • Thank you ALL for your kind words and wonderful generosity!

A fund is currently being established for accepting donations for the Village Academy High School Students!

Please be patient, we hope to have this completed for them this week. We will notify you as soon as it is established.

The kids are SO appreciative of the support and well wishes, we just can't relate it all here! Suffice it to say... a HUGE THANK YOU TO ALL!

  • Please put my email on your website when it is ready. Wonderful, intelligent students - every single one on youtube and on Ch. 7 tv show demonstrate how smart they are and express themselves so well - better than many adults!

  • I hope God, Jesus, and the holy spirit. will make things better for you. Remember prayer is a good answer whether a desciple of Muhammed, Follower of Buddha, or the son of god. Pray it gets you through the day. I'll pray for the lives of these people to change for the better. =).

  • huh we watched this in social studies today

  • "every reaction has an equal and opposite reaction"---Sir Issac Newton. Even though we are in an economic recession right now, things will get better and we will bounce back. Look at the Historical events of the Great Depression, or Causes of the Glorious Revolution in France. The only problem preventing things from getting better is the fact that people never learn and allow history to repeat itself.

  • This video screams of the sorrow felt by our children, they are all overwhelmed from the current financial crisis. My heart goes out to each and everyone of you. Thank you for sharing your stories. Stay strong it will get better.

  • I'm glad i was alone when i watched this. My girlfriend is a teacher at village academy hs in pomona. I had heard a lot of the situation, but seeing the video was surreal. I'm going to offer my help today - not by giving a fish - but by helping them to help themselves. Please, follow me!

  • "It is well enough that people of the nation do not understand our banking and monetary system, for if they did, I believe there would be a revolution before tomorrow morning. "

    Henry Ford

PLease educate yourself and understand our banking and monetary system.

To end and to prevent this type of suffering

The American people Need stand up together and abolish the Federal Reserve our childrens children has been in debt to the federal reserve sense 1920 and its just one big fait money shame

  • Thank you for sharing this poignant story. To the students, have hope. Our family went through a financial crisis where we struggled to put food on the table, and somehow we got through it. I'd like to see a sequel to this story, next year, perhaps. I know your situation will be improved. To the teacher, you are very special and caring.

  • I'm sorry to hear of your misfortune. Life is full of tragedy and misfortune, either you learn to survive and overcome or whither and die.... Such is life.

I've had to deal with several hardships in my lifetime, and I overcame them and grew stronger because of them... so will you. Good luck.

  • Its amazing that people are barly realizing how hard life is....people are barley living the way i have lived my whole life...single parent three kids two bedroom apartment thats how i ave lived my whole life paycheck to paycheck...How come its barley a big deal????

  • I just heard about this for the first time since this was aired on Friday. What I'd like to know is did any of the students and/or their family got any help at all?

  • Thank you for giving a face and a voice to thousands who share experiences similar to what you are going through. By sharing your circumstances, we can begin the process of solving our nation's economic problems - your courage to meet the challenges you face is exemplary. Stay strong and may God bless your families and you!

  • this is very insparational video and i am glad to see i am not the only one. i have recently moved from a 7200 sq ft home to a 2 room rv.

this video has touched me and i am only 12

  • Again Thank You!!You Inspired me To Keep On Fighting>

  • I am so disheartened. You can make a youtube video, you can get national attention and even meet our new President - but none of that will put food on the cupboards, power the refrigerator or keep you down-syndrome brothers out of homeless shelters, digging through dumpsters for food or fighting the elements without the proper protections.

Your dreams have been slashed. Even as I am teetering on being online and offline, I am living in a home and yet soon it will all change. Rich need empathy.

  • and what about the children who have been living like this all of their lives? Our children are our future yet 1.5 million of them are homeless each year in the U.S. and 42% of those are under the age of 5 !!!

  • i want a hug now. T-T

  • Okay Obama heard now what is he going to do about it?

  • it is WORSE for US! WE r the Feuture! thank u guys n girls. Im glad im not the only one who relized this. u guys r hero's!

  • I am listening.

Great video, kids, I wish you only the best.

  • Remember God is your strenght and look to him not Obama or the goverment!God Bless You! remember God hears your prayers! We have to band together and help each other. Loves and prayers,Gina Seale..

  • You are the future of this world and this economy. While reading the responses, I find it sad that adults answer negatively about your video. To change the world, you have to realize the problem. I commend you and recommend that the "adults" of this world start listenine, instead of pushing the problem away!

  • we all want to do many things, but we can't, cuz we fear that the money isnt gana be there. we want to help, but our parents want us to focus in school. but how can we focus, when we see our parents, family, and friends suffering? we need our vocies to be heard!

  • i swear i can hear marissas heart beat

cos the mic..this was a good vid

  • In all honesty, the rich Wall Street people have caused this problem and we are paying to help them. We should pay to help the non super wealthy

  • You kids are in my prayers. Don't give up. Find strength in yourself and support each other. Don't give up!

  • yay!

    thats my cousins school.

Thank you very much for making this video and sharing your true life stories to the public!

  • Hi im all the way from NEWZEALAND our nation seen ur video on t.v all i can say 2 you's are KIA KAHA which means BE STRONG in maori!!! • Beautiful video. My heart goes out to you all. Your bravery is astounding.

  • keep your heads up god will come through :)

  • keep your heads up god will come through:)

  • Wow! I started crying during this video. I know what they are talking about. My dad walked out on our family the moment I was born and my parent finally divorced two or three years ago. Then my mom lost her job. She was the sole provider of my family. So now I try to tutor after school so my mom doesn't have to spend money on me. I am always so tired in class and being in the IB programs requires focus. Most of my peers come from wealthy family and I don't want to fail just because I'm not rich.

  • what a good video

  • YOU ARE MY HEROS!!!!!god bless your teacher HE IS AN ANGEL HERE ON EARTH!!! I AM SURE OBAMA WILL HELP YOU AND MANY MORE PEOPLE. HE IS A KIND MAN AND HE WILL TAKE ACTION JUST LIKE YOUR TEACHER TOOK ACTION. THE UNIVERSSE HAS ALREADY BLESS YOU XOXOXOKUKA

  • i saw you guys on 20/20

  • I don't see how republicans can say anything at all or even complain about what is being done to combat their monstrous errors. They have destroyed this country. They should be completely embarrassed and dismantled. This is completely shameful. These poor kids have had all their dreams ripped out of them and its all their faults.

  • It'll be okay, guys- keep the faith & support eachother as much as possible!

I'm 19 and scared too, but we're gonna make it through this.

  • My mom is going to lose her job too. She lost everything in the stock market. We are listening. we are with you in this. we are praying for you. Keep going to school. Keep fighting. One day YOUR GENERATION may be to turn this whole thing around!

  • This video touched my heart. Mr. Steinman, you and your students are incredible.

  • I would like to know how we can reach out and help these kids financially (for those of us who can afford and would like to do). Some contact info would have helped. Thanks.

  • Boys and girls on this video i need to say something i am listing.

  • You ladies and gentlemen are our future. Thank your lucky stars that you have a teacher who has vision. Listen to this man he is wise beyond your wildest dreams. Have a great future. Concern citizen of Frisco, Tx

  • You know, there was a time when I could look somebody in the eyes and be very proud to say, "I'm an American."

The current President will, hopefully, help us out of this mess that we're in.

I have little to offer, and can only say: If you think your neighbor is hungry and you have some food to spare, search your pantry, knock on their door w/what you found, and leave without them seeing you. This is what God would want. We all need to help one another, people.

  • We're listening, praying, worrying. Many of us are in similar positions and many are waiting for the next shoe to drop. I'm lucky right now - I have a job, but there are problems where I work and I don't know what lies ahead. I am afraid too. I worry about the kids and the pets. It's all just too much.

  • im listening :) dont leave hope.. keep going

  • i watched the 20/20 show last night... :( I'm listening

  • No fate but what we make for ourselves.

  • I LOVE HOW OBAMA LISTENED

    I watched that last night

Hey I am 11 and I AM listening

  • I want to congratulate the teacher for caring for his students. Great people inspire and motivates nations. The prove: President's reaction. To the class: I am proud you. Never give up on your dreams! Look how far you have come. President Obama noticed you, & responded to you. Go to college prove to everyone but specially to yourselves that you are winners and look at this situation as a challenge that you will overcome. Make your parents proud, honor their hard work. It will be all fine!

  • I want to congratulate the teacher. I say great people inspire & motivate nations. The prove: president's reaction For the class: I am proud of YOU. Its okay to be scared, it is okay to cry. Never give up on your dreams Just look how far you have come Obama noticed you listened to you and responded to you. Go to college prove to every one but specially to yourselves that you are WINNERS.Look at this situation as a challenge you will overcome. Make your parents proud, honor their hard work.

  • This video that you all have made to explain to all the united states how bad the ecomony is right now. I truely myself does appreciate it and i know that many others then me like President Obama said are listening now. You have made it a clear statement to all that there needs to be a change.

A Scholar That Attends Kellogg Polytechnic in Pomona, California as well

  • We forget that it's not just the adults that this tragedy (of the economy) affects. These youth are a prime example of just how devastating the state of our family unit is in these days. We all desperately want to maintain our homes, feed our families, pay the bills, and yet we've got greed still occurring in sectors of the population - for instance, the big insurance giants that should have been allowed to collapse, but then that would hurt us all too. None of us are unscathed by this

  • these are the people that make a diffrence in the world

  • We are listening. So happy Obama was listening and visited you. Times will get better. Hang in there.

  • I found out about this on 20/20

  • "debt is what's gonna kill America" my favorite part. i am a teenager as well and i feel it, not as strongly as these teens, my dad is lucky to have his job, but i do feel it.

  • schweet vifs guys im listenning damn war damn oil prices damn everything thank you guys for making this video

  • People are listening! What a touching video.

  • Your stories inspire me to make a change in my life and appreciate all things including the food on my table. Thanks for sharing.

  • Im listening and i understand what ya'll are going through.

  • I want him (obama) to really help all young kids, not give a fancy Speech..jeez.....enough is enough....he is spending like a drunken sailor...........Talk is cheap....action is louder than words.....all he has is words....sadly :-(

  • i watched this yesterday on TV and it almost made me cry

  • Great Job! Please Kudo's to your whole class for putting yourselves out to the the American people. You all will go far in life , don't ever quit or give up.

  • Teens shouldn't be this stressed about anything except maybe grades and college entrance exams. These kids should be insulated from this terrible day-to-day, but I can see that is impossible. I wish each of them well and hope that they can achieve their American dream after this nightmare is over. I am hopeful that the new administration is truly listening and that they also act swiftly to protect thse kids as well as the billions more who are equally distressed,

  • I got tears in my eyes after watching this. And I actually learned something by this video. Thank you for posting this to make me realize how many people are suffering--even teenagers! And I want to say:

    I am listening.

  • during this time i too have lost my job then my home then all my posessions. but i have my health and my family. it took me almost 1 yr to find a new job in my profession...never give up. stay focused, stay positive, stay strong.

  • You guys are right it is sad and my family is going in the wring direction also. My mom just got laid off and my dads has been out of work for a year. we are going to get foreclosed on soon. but i just wish that me family was as strong as you guys. i am going to have to get a job when i turn 14 and im scared. my family dosent know what to do. we are going to have to go to a homeless shelter or to my grandfathers house and sleep in the west wing. the west wing dosent have any heating or anything.

  • I am listening, Robert Ilion NY. and Brandon Syracuse NY.

  • In fact you need a link for paypal donations.

  • You are great kids and my heart goes out to you - I hope real people come out because of this video and help you.

  • i am listining

  • Very Moving and tragic...that so much has been wasted on fools war and that our country did not care about its own citizens for so long. Thank god we have a president who cares and is not brain dead like the last one- lets hope he has the time and the help to set this country back on the right track.

  • It is hearthbreaking listening the voices of this youngsters , as parents of 3 young children going through this difficult times is hard to listen, because we are so inmerse on solving day to day economical needs and do not listen them.

It is so hard and painfull, and each voice this student had remind us the voice of our own youngsters. Thanks to the student who voice their pain ....it was healing to understand , learn and now act together among families.

    God bless all of you..

  • This is a testament to how powerful this is...and how well done it is: i just wanted to see more!

    Thank you.

  • If these young people have anything to do with it, then America's future is in good hands.

    Thank you!

  • omigawd... i hadnt thought about this really... but their right...

  • wow i went to that school and know a couple people that came out in this video

  • Bless these kids and all of us.The thing that would save the future is if these kids learned how things really work.

Did you know that? Think about it... This is not a conspiracy theory.

THE FED IS PRIVATELY OWNED AND OPERATED AND IT'S LEADERS HAVE NO DIRECT CONNECTION TO THE US GOVERNMENT.

  • i saw them on 20/20 today :)

  • Stay positive kids! We are listening! My prayers are with you...

  • I heard about your video when I watched 20/20, yes we are all humbled and made poor (but this is not what being really humble is more like degraded) YOU WILL MAKE IT

  • Just saw this on 20/20 and it made me cry.

  • I cried when i saw the video on tv and now online. why doesnt anybody help. The President met with them...so did he get money for Chris and his family who are 4 months behind on their rent..is he going to help that girl who's parents lost their home to mortgage crisis? He is the President..do more than lip service. Open your check book and donate...i would if i knew where to send it...

  • My heart and prayers go out to those that have found themselves in this situation. Keep your heads up... many people hear you and understand. It's sad to see young people feel this way. But...things will work out and you will overcome. Our country is great and all will be OK once again. Love to you all.

  • i know what they are feeling because i was there and i hate to say this but if we don't suffer we will never know how to appreciate what we had we were becoming wasteful americans and i hope now we can see that everything can fall apart so easily hopefully when we all recover we will be people

  • My heart goes out to each and every one of you. Jorge--Smile. Sonya--I care, Obama cares. Chris--You are a wonderful role model for your brothers. Do not let the failing economy rip your dreams away from you! You will be heard.

  • I was just watching this on 20/20.

    I fear for these people...

I really hope things will get better...

But today,as I lost my job 2wks ago I am now enrolled in school trying to offer a better life for my daughter in these tough times. don't give up. people care and people believe in you. si se puede!
