knowledge is important, and don't get me wrong I agree with will in the scene, but a degree can mean merely knowledge in action... you can be incredibly intelligent, but if you never put forth any effort whos gonna see the fruits of that? I go to class, and I often times think "i don't need a teacher to learn this."
same with will in this movie, many of us have different gifts, that maybe we alone wouldn't do anything with, but with the help of others can be motivated to actually go & use them
she said i had a receding hairline and i was a few pounds overweight and i was like GO FUCK YA SELF lol casey affleck is an under rated actor in my opinion
Is it just me or is Will a bit of a retard... He's supposed to be an amazing prodigy who has psychological problems that are a result of childhood trauma. Instead of trying to fix his problems and use his potential he decides to commit crimes until he eventually ends up in jail (that seemed to be his plan but it didn't work because he got lucky).
@imfreeinfinity Speaking from personal experience, it helps with a very few awesome girls that most guys have no chance with, but that comes at the expense of your chances with perfectly fine normal girls, who there are more of. (I did better on the SAT when I was 10 than 95% of high school students). My intelligence ends a lot of relationships before they start, even though I try to hide it. I've met only one girl that I could be myself around without scaring her, and that sadly went nowhere.
Sadly the pussy ass college boy has a point: a college degree and a heavy CV are more important than real knowledge and pure experience...and that pisses me off.
@imfercho i would say you need both, that's why you see a lot of guys fresh out of college that start out as copy makers and errand boys in companies because they don't have experience or real knowledge and they're then slowly integrated into getting experience and knowledge and then move on to better jobs within their field
@CTDevon mmmm nop, actually I always say there has to be some balance between the academical and the practical preparation. But, where I live, I know some people that a college degree but kept missing classes, cheated on exams and have influences to make their life easier (even finding a good job). While others are really doing their best, getting good grades and being responsable. And ironically things are harder for them. That's what I find unfair and makes me sick.
@imfercho Don't be pissed by it, im. Play the game. Realizing the truth is half the fight. Take courses and combine your "real knowledge" with the things the world wants and go from there.
@imfercho That's true, but as long as you are happy with how your life is, assholes like them can just go to hell with their high standard issues. I like your comment thumbs up from me
@imfercho You've been shooting for the wrong jobs. Or rather, companies that have such shallow minded people interviewing you when you attend their interviews. Sadly, I've come to realise that Steve Job's actually had it right - "don't waste your life living someone else's" - and nothing rings more true when I look at some of the corporations I've worked for in the past 10 years. Recognise and believe in yourself, and do what makes you happy. The rest will then just fall into place.
@imfercho No, the real knowledge you speak of is most important. But that coupled with a college degree is the best combination. But I see your point, a worthy individual with great knowledge and experience may be overlooked only because they don't have a degree, and that is frustrating.
@grimblebrumble17889 The characters are from South Boston (Southie), its an IRISH neighborhood, they all have boston accents, they say fuck alot, they can drink anyone under the table, they love to fight (as you see in this film), and they dont take shit from anyone. This is how it was up untill the 2000's, before other races flooded into these nieghborhoods. I would know, I'm from Dorchester, Mass. And if you think this is how all white people act, think again. Its just the Micks
@jameson9189 Im from Derry and they act and sound fuck all like the rest of us. Cos thats just how we want to be looked at isnt it? Some pie eyed cunt, with a bottle of bushmills in one hand and a shillelagh in the other, eating scouse and losing count of all our kids FFS. Now excuse me whilst I go and blow up a pub with a load of kids in it and beat my wife till I fall asleep. Dont you just love cuntish stererotypes? Oh and we get called paddies, taigs, candles or fenians, not micks.
@grimblebrumble17889 I'm of irish decent (born and raised in the us) and I don't care to look back through the comments but I did just want to say that is a fucking hilarious paragraph of stereotyping!!! Aaand i learned something, all they ever call the irish in the states are micks. All the best sir!
@grimblebrumble17889 Out here in Mass, we get called micks, its alot different out here, Stereotypes suck, but some of them you just cant avoid. We obviously dont beat our wives, but people see how violent we are and get suspicious. I get shit all the time for being Irish, but i cant really deny it cuz thats just who i am. I'm damn Proud of it though.
@jameson9189 dont we now? Im sorry to say boy but your ancestors were Irish, your American. And Irish folks arent anymore violent than anyone else. You didnt see the Irish incinerating a bunch of Iraqis or Afghans for oil. Saw plenty of Americans and Britz though. Im not denying some elements are violent. I did after all grow up with troops and cops walking down the street looking terrified, but to revel in it........ pfffft. And as for pride, I leave that to what I accomlish, not where Im born.
