There are subtitles in "Real English" on the series btw. For those who "falling in love" with it -- just check tpb or amazon ..it's up to you ;). As a Russian speaker I can say that they are perfect. Maybe those subs are ones that were being used for showing on UK television (I've heard it was shown there once)

I've seen the whole series and it is addictive, the best of them all. Subtitles are accurate.

Livanov got an Order of the British Empire for his portrayal of Holmes in this series.

I must say I find the Russian language a little distracting, because I am Czech and both languages are Slavic. So I undersnad like 40 percent of what the actors are saying, but not the rest, and the subtitles does not exactly say what the actors say at times, so it IS little distracting. But otherwise... SPLENDID. I did not even know that there is a Russian version of Sherlock Holmes. And this is - alongside with Jeremy Brett´s version - the best version I have seen so far. As far as I can tell.
