Im looking into one of these but id have it added into my w/c loop just before it hits the cpu etc, like this:
coolit> cpu>nb>gpu>gpu>240mm rad>240mm rad then back to coolit.
My 2 rads should get rid of most of the heat and hopefully let the borreas drop temps down quite a bit as its not taking all the heat from the system just chilling the now ambient coolant slightly below.
Whats the difference you can have between ambient and coolant before you get condensation?
If you want to overclock more, make sure you are cooling your chipset and mosfets. This will allow safer overclocking. You can also add higher CFM fans and Artic Silver your peilter to waterblock transfer. I would highly recommend that. I am running a Freezone and Eliminator loop at 2c idle and 8c load with a QX9770@4.2 with the 180CFM fans at 70%. I would not recommend running the fans at 100% because they whine like a banshee. Simply wire the TEC to be in series with the fan. ~50-70% Speed
A good WC setup actually will end up costing the same if not more. If you saw better temps it had either two loops, wasn't cooling 2 gtx285s, or it was D0 stepping.
The voltages are really going to vary chip to chip honestly. A good starting point for 4ghz is 1.3 vcore and around the same for the QPI core. If you turn off HT you can start out lower.
It is a C0. Like i said earlier---voltages will vary chip to chip. What will work on one may not work on the other. The best i can give you is a good starting point.
well if you still have the system can u give it a rough measurement of the boreas unit (LxWxH) this could be helpful as a single unit cools ok, but imagine the potential of two!! it would be almost as close to phase (not quite but close) but without the noise and size/ power issue of a compressor not to mention two units sharing a load should decrease the needed full blast on the fans right?
Did you ever have problems getting your computer to post because I built a computer with the same mobo but cant get anything on the monitor even though the leds were working and all the fans.
Im having trouble getting to the bios - this is the first few times I have tried to get into the bios since I have built the computer only a day or two ago.
Bclk is Baseclock. To overclock these cpus you have to raise the baseclock. So the multi on the 920 is 20x, and with a bclk of 200 that would be 4.0ghz.
I never tried to push the ram that high simply because it isn't needed(and it was only ddr3 1600). With 12 gigs on there i kind of doubt it though. I think the DFI board would be the one to try something like that on honestly.
Came to check out your rig, nice set up, as powerful as your system is, you won't need to keep your overclock settings, so to all those who say they are too low, don't worry about them. Also, we are running similar systems, I was curious if you got your 12 gig of ram to run at 1.6 GHz.
Yes, the ram will run at 1600mhz, but i can't get the baseclock to 200mhz. It seems like the more ram you have the harder it is to go faster on these boards..
Agreed, I had a tough time getting mine to 1600 as well. I had to really crank up my voltages and play with my settings for hours at a time. I can get to 204, I ran stable on most things, but began to have trouble with benchmarks. I can run everything stable at 201. Good thing is, our rigs can run anything out there so far without the higher clocks.
Yeah, it really isn't needed honestly. The difference between running it at 3.8 and 4 ghz would never be noticed. The video cards and SSDs have a bigger effect on game playability in my opinion.
Ultimate gaming computer: 24 SSD's in raid 0, i7 980x overclocked to 4.5 GHz, 12 GB of DDR3 2000 MHz memory, 4 GTX 480's or overclocked, Asus rampage 3 extreme, watter cooled.

@DarkKnight00073 24 SSDs and 4 GTX 480s is not doable, period.

Good vid btw!nice setup.
superj1977 1 year ago
you should make the coolant pass throught the CPU first, the to your GPUs.. so chilled water would come in contact with the cpu first..

I dont get all that trouble with the voltages and stuff, maybe I have no idea but I only turn the clock up and thats iteverything else on auto.
Is it because I have D0?
Maxaker67 1 year ago
why do people have Co steppings, I found it easy to find a D0.
Maxaker67 1 year ago
@Maxaker67 When it was built the D0s weren't available.
FighterHayabusa 1 year ago
@FighterHayabusa Ah ok, then I get it.
Maxaker67 1 year ago
D0 seems to be a lot better, I can easily do 200 clock with air 40 idle 50 load. I just change the clock everrything else on auto.
Maxaker67 1 year ago
I also have UD4P and 285 SLI :D but I dont have watercooling but the closest to it the Coolermaster V10

2 ssd's in raid OMG i dream of that.

nice macine besides that. very nice.

That wicked now my PC is a clone of yours. Sweet build.. except 1200watt PSU

I have 2 of these things sitting in a box and theyve been there for maybe 6months lmao., one day, one day soon I hope lolz
I do worry however that 2 will drop way below ambient and cause condensation
mysty0 2 years ago
Yeah WOW 50 to low 60 is hot... nooot
Beaverman20 2 years ago
Considering I've seen custom water cooling do about the same with a higher overclock, and a lot less money spent it is hot.

Hi i have a EX58-UD4P and i7 920 D0, you set X Core volt and X qpi volt ?
please say the voltages, thank !

I don't have it near me, but the dimensions of the boreas are 138x138x123. You would have to remove both the HD cages first though.
FighterHayabusa 2 years ago
can you fit two Boreas in the bottom bay compartment?
UberPanzer666 2 years ago
That is actually a good question. I'm honestly not sure.
FighterHayabusa 2 years ago
u probably could since there are the mesh air vents (not sure if that's wut there called but i keep forgetting) on the sides so yea

thats one awesome rig... though i prefer ATI above Nvid, but that personal

rep353 2 years ago
Actually, yes it would fail to post at times while trying to reach 200mhz bclk. Just reset the bios and try again.

There is actually a switch on the back to reset the bios on these boards. Press that and it should reset and post again.

what is 200mhz bclk, im a noob planing to buy same board with corsair 1333mhz 6gb xms ddr3 ram. I want to know what casue these mobo issues.

About 3200 without both cards in it.

nice pc man. check out mine too. also how to you find to vertex ssd's
themadman697 2 years ago
Very nice. The vertex drives work extremely well. On this build they tested a little above 500MB/s read average.
FighterHayabusa 2 years ago
wow i getting around 375MB/S what tweeks did u make to get them to run that fast.
themadman697 2 years ago
There is a thread about it on the OCZ forums. What firmware are you running?
