I was thinking that if I moved to Japan I would be terrified of getting the train because I can't read Hirigana/Katakana or Kanji but thinking about it, I always look up my train or bus on the internet in England anyway.
How long has that site been around? It would have helped tremendously the last time I was in Japan. Instead, I had to rely on my father-in-law to go places, and we only went when he said so.
I found it more than interesting man! That is so exciting for me to see this site and i plan on tweeting it and telling people i know about it. Awesome job!
hey, i was wondering on how hard it would be to get a job in japan as a game rewiever for magazines or stuff like that for a bilingual spanish/english speaking person? If you've got any info pm me please.
its $135!!!! i wonder if people in japan earn a lot more money than the rest of the world to be able to afford that. or maybe they dont take it on a daily basis, or do they? i dont knw i m obviously a noob
@sajonaee GDP per capita Japan :$43,653 GDP per capita America: $47,132. They make less then americans on average ha. I guessing they do not take it often.
Used that a many times on recent trips, it's excellent! Couple of tips:
1) Often there are multiple stations in one city eg Osaka tripped me up - be worth using google map when you're not sure too
2) if you're on a Japan Rail pass you can refine the search to not include NOZOMI & MIZUHO class trains which are not included on the pass (simple tick box)
@PungPhooie Well, as you know "grass is always greener on the other side". Just let people fantasize a bit. Besides getting upset about someone else his or her comment is a choice you as a reader have. It's more simple to ignore the messages. Also there are almost 7 billion people on the world now and all of them have a wish to go some place on the globe they are interested in. So you can see it might be a bit hard to convince all of them to stop saying such things. ;)
I found another useful link too on my visit it's called Japanese Train Route Finder by Jorudan.. it basically does the same thing but i think Hyperdia is a better one ;D
speaking of places how are the areas that were hit by the tsunami? Did they just shut off the towns or are they rebuilding? And what about the area that was hit with the radioactivity? Is there any concern about traveling around those areas now?

A single train ride from Tokyo to Kyoto costs at least 12,710 yen (incl. seat fee)? That's 115 euros or 166 dollars!

Hyperdia's excellent. You just have to remember to remove flights, and, if you're using the JR rail-pass, to remove the Nozomi shinkansen, too.
