A 'tribute' doesn't mean that all Phylis Hyman's songs have to be covered. They are singing these songs in her memory. It doesn't mean that they all have to be hers. Just a reflection of what she had: a lot of soul, but also a lot of sadness.

God bless all of the singers in this video, but God forgive me, they have to be the WORST singers I have ever heard, the two guys toward the end can barely keep on tune. The only one who has any talent at all is the female who is singing Jill Scotts Long Walk. Sorry folks I guess I am just too picky when it comes to jazz and blues singers! Oh and yeah, these folks all give me hope for my career, ha!

It's so nice to know that these talented people care enough about these artist to tribute them with such care and love. We have enough talented artists not to bicker about whose talent outshined one anothers. There is enogh pie for all the invited guests.

Patti can sing--all due respect-- but the tone quality of Miss Hyman was above and beyond anything Patti can do---nice tribute ...can't give up hope--he did a sweet job ..

Phyllis was the best singer hands down. It's not about singing circles around people. I more into tone than dramantics. I personally don't like singers that "over" sings. Sometimes Patti over sings to me. Although a good singer. Patti's great in concert I've seen her, but Phyllis richness and tone of voice is on a another level. Another favorite is Lalah Hathaway. She has the tone of her father, late Donny Hathaway.

Phyllis can take Patti's songs and sing them better than Patti. Patti doesn't have the range of style and vocal phrasing or musicality to sing Phyllis's material. The only places Patti would beat Phyllis is Church and in your dreams. Same goes for the rest of them. And they were great. Phyllis is just a better singer. Period.

Ok They both great! But no one can touch Patti's emotion and spiritual voice! Patti is spontaneous is genius, and have a range out of this word. Phyllis is a wonderful singer, but her songs and cds don't match her voice quality. But pls don't compare these 2 legends

phylis was one of the all time greats and her and patti were freinds; let's not start a war. patti's range is incomparable and phylis's voice was equally incomparable. she was greatly loved. so sad it wasn't enough.

What does this have to do with Phyllis Hyman? Not enough. Really the story of her life. People did not take time to really appreciate her talent.  Even now, you bring Phyllis Hyman's name up and soon people are talking about Whitney Houston, Tina Marie, Patti Labelle, etc. Phyllis was better than all of them. Noone ever called her "Queen" of anything.
