@jaysimonT Western music might as well start all over again from the times of the classical greats like Bach, and perhaps even reinvent the classical music.
I never thought I would see a video of the great man. WOW. I listen to him almost everyday since I discovered him a few weeks back. Thanks for the video, it cleared up a few things. I always wondered whether some sounds(plucks) were from him or the tanpura, now I know its from him. Look at what he does at 3.12/13. Does he just move his hands in the air above the strings and get that variation? Amazing.
So fantastic! Is there only one instrument playing? Or maybe a veena in the background?

@subshrub Just the solo veena and a tanpura for drone I think

The ultimate music... if aliens were to land and ask the humans 'show us what you can do' , this should be included.
Thanks!!!

He is using his left hand to bend the pitch, while his right is used for plucking. So sometimes he moves his right hand like the melody.

Hmm. Thanks for your reply.

I used to think the voice was supreme, but after Ustad Zia Mohiuddin Dagar's Yaman, it is the rudra veena that is the greatest!
