  • i would get out of there arter the first seconds, bear spray burnt my face bad cuz the wind sprayed it back at me in like 5 minutes lol

  • I must chime in here... STORM6490MT has shown a lot of restraint here dealing with the comment raging of a couple of immature wankers...sorry about that dude, most of us Canadians are cool. I was just reading the book Collapse. It starts with some interesting info about Montana and how it's economy is changing. Are you from around the Bitter root area?

  • Thanks man! Most all the Canadians I meet are really cool. One of my best friends is from Nelson. A really nice guy until you mistake his kindness for weakness. :)

Anyway, I will check into that book. I am near warner peak north of the bitter root. The range that is most dangerous for hikers that I like to visit is the bob marshall wilderness area. Full of cats and bears.

Stop by and help our messed up economy!

    Peace

    Nick

  • It's not much fun. The last one ripped off my garage door and tore the door off of my landcruiser. I was woken up by the noise and killed him with my .357

Try to grow up. Most Canadians are pretty damn cool. At least the ones I know. You know who the real joke is.

  • Where did I "diss" Canada? I'm talking about bear spray and guns here. Turn off your television and try to eat a proper meal, that way your attention deficit will go away..

  • this relates to back country and survival. my mountains extend into canada on the rocky mountain belt. your bears come into our country and likewise. a two dimensional boarder is just an imaginary line in the woods. im not talking shit. i do know about this subject. pay attention and eat healthy.

  • Cheers Dude!

  • Mmmmmmmmm,..debilitating.

  • LOL! I love you Canadians. Your bear spray is probably not going to work if you are close and you piss it off. Maybe a black or brown bear but not a grizzly. I suggest a .357 magnum at a minimum. A nice .44 magnum revolver is always good to have around in your camping gear. It may save you life.

  • yeah, because everyone has acess to a 44 magnum. Dumbass.

  • This is America Dumbass. If you are in bear country and don't have a gun you are fucking stupid.

Canadians can get bear bangers and most have handguns.

Americans should all have a pack gun for bear country. No excuse.

Do you live with bears? I do. It's pretty simple, you respect them, they respect you.

    Fucking city twerp.

  • this just shows how gun-loving US society is! Us Canadians don't go into the woods to encunter wildlife, noly to give a poor bear a .44 magnum to the head. Maybe you should consider alternate solutions than always turning to guns and violence! And by the way your country is called the United States of America, not America because Canada, Mexico and the rest of the countries in the Americas are independent from you in case you didn't know!

  • the US indicates the corporation nation. i live in America. you have no clue. it would be a terrible thing to kill a bear but it happens. bear spray doesn't work. that's why your guides and government agents all carry large caliber weapons.

you probably live in the city and never have to deal with bears. you would understand if you did.

This is America. You are in Canada and Mexico is south. The U.S. is the government and not the land or people.

    Thanks for your socialist garbage.

  • Er, a grizzly is a brown bear.

FYI handguns in Canada are not permitted to be used or carried anywhere other than a range. The only exceptions are a handful of folks who can get a wilderness carry licence for their job. Handguns are a pretty poor choice for bear defence anyway.

Bear spray has been proven to be very effective against all bears in North America, more so than handguns. If you are going to use a firearm, I would prefer a good rifle or perhaps a 12g slug gun.

  • I agree with the rifle or slug gun opinion. However, I am prospecting and need something at my side and ready. Also light weight. I'd hate to use a gun on a bear. The grizzly is from the brown bear category but not to be mistaken for a smaller brown that we have here in Montana. We make one of the worlds best bear sprays just miles away in Kalispell. They say it is effective but if I was getting charged and not bluffed I would want to have my gun. My friends from B.C. all own and carry guns.

  • oh ya so when a giant bear is barreling down on you sure only 8 shots or 6 wil do your a dumbass

  • One well placed round works well. You obviously know nothing about bears. The National Forrest service started out using lever action 45 long colt rifles and now use 12ga slugs. A .45 with a full mag will easily kill a grizzly full of adrenaline charging right at you. Most of the time you can avid this in the first place by not being a pussy, like you, and running off after the initial bluff charge. Go fuck yourself city boy.

  • Lmaooo only you guys I swear

  • Thank you for this post. I have a can of bear spray and have never tried it out. Now I know that the bear is going to be very "freekin" close to get a good shot.
