Its an MMO. Many MMOs have mounts, flying mounts, magic spells, and use all types of mysticism and superhero lore. In order to give the player freedom of play, all these things need to be included into the game. So whatever speed boosts, flight boosts, or special abilities need to be represented in the game, but in the form of martial arts.
