this is a great song for the first track on the first album with new horse member Frank Sampedro....the 2 guitars are very evenly woven together, hard to tell which one is the lead, I guess the one on the left as it has the solo....,but is that Neil or Frank?
There is a lot of music I love, from classical to whatever....and Neil Young has always been number one on my list of favorites, I think because he is so down to earth. True, he doesn't have an operatic voice, but he is the only one who can sing his songs the way he wrote them. I love his voice.
@RoyalPacificMusic Along with Tonight's The NIght, Zuma won every award in England. The guru of rock music programming thought so much of the two albums he went to see Neil Young and Crazy Horse at the Hammersmith Odeon. After three encores, the guru then allotted an entire 60 minutes of his programming to playing Neil Young.
@crisatunity In the case of Susan Acevedo, your guess is as good as mine. I think she hit it for a while with Mike Love -- Neil Young and MIke Love hung out at UCLA in those days -- and may just be back waitressing in Topanga Canyon. In the case of Carrie Snodgress, she's dead but before she died she wrote some very critical things about Neil's care for her and his child. In the case of Pegi, he seems really committed and in love. Third time lucky, I guess.
@phddddd ah no I didn't realise Carrie Snodgrass had died, RIP. Transformer Man is an amazing song, and I understand creatively and emotionally why Neil layered it with electronic sound effects, love the acoustic version from Unplugged.
@crisatunity Not as dramatic, I had a wonderful moment concerning my son. Child care told me repeatedly that my son was a slower learner with impaired sppech and I should think of having him treated for ADD. He had repeated ear infections and all the doctor was giving him was more moxicylin. Finally, I took him to an ENT specialist. After examining my son, the doctor came out and said: "Your son is really smart. He talks exactly like he hears." Plugs were put in and my son has grown up well.

Neil must have been pretty heartbroken when he recorded this album. It's a good one though...good if you have a broken heart!

I found the first version of this song. Archives box contains a song called "I WONDER" which is previously unreleased and made in 1963. Fun!

It's great that Neil re-cycled the melody from"I Wonder" and used it for "Don't Cry no tears"-2 for the price of one.
