Wow she sounds like a rooster! I only have 2 stinkin' chickens but the oldest one (who lays eggs and is not a rooster) started crowing when I bought her a friend 2 days ago, only not like this - she sounds like she's being strangled. I'm hoping she'll quit after she establishes her dominance...if not, she'll have to go live somewhere the neighbors won't be bothered.

We were given a crowing Wellsomer bantam hen once (crowing hens are considered undersirables where she lived, along with Australians and poor people). Once she was among other chickens (including a couple of cockerels) she stopped, presumably after her testosterone levels normalised, much to my chagrin. Crowing can also be thought to be related to ovarian cysts, tough I couln't say for certain that it was related to this.
That's because I didn't know what it meant until you told me, just an approximate context for its use. And if you really want to be pedantic / informative, then disappointment has one "s" and two "t"s, and embarrassment an "s" rather than an "ed".
@automatonsleuth GOOD FOR YOU. Too many people think they are superior to others, and in this case, wind up showing how ignorant they actually are themselves. By the way, you failed to point out this person also spelled the word "sense" incorrectly. Again, GOOD FOR YOU.
i have a cockerel, hes a light sussex 5 months old, can u tell me when he's goin to be able to mate and be fertile? and also, is it possible to STOP him crowing or reduce the crowing somehow? thanks.

Your sentence "much to my chagrin" doesn't make any sence. Chagrin means mortificaton and embarrasedment, not dissapointment.

Glad I am not the only one! My 3+ year old Araucana just started doing the same thing. So odd! Is your still crowing, or did she eventually stop?

She does it now and then.
