If technology is so great and reduces costs, why do teacher's unions avoid it like the plague if it even hints at reducing jobs? We need to divorce ourselves from the limitations that plague classrooms. Teachers claim a need for smaller classrooms yet entertainment tries to devour every possible opportunity especially mass media.
Educators need to understand the connection between education, knowledge, mass media and internet.
Allow government help to reduce duplication costs of "LOCAL CONTROL"

i suggest people fight the income tax and property tax (and requirements of licenses and permits to drive, carry guns, marriage and open businesses, etc.)...think about it, as if i need to tell you to.. you cant work for a living or own property without the government threatening you with imprisonment and violence, if you dont hand over a portion of the products of your labors...what do you call that besides slavery? i just cant believe how stupid people are
I read a book a few years ago. One thing what cached my attention. The difference between data and information. Information is a data what you read(listen, watch, feel), analyze and understand. Otherwise it will be just data. Information technology he he he... and in Hungary we say: the new broom can clean fast, but the old broom knows where the dust is. Technology he he he...
I love this vid man !! I am studing to be a teacher and this vid helped to me a lot to performance my topic th ICT Information comunication Technology!! hey thanks man!!!
HenryKelly,President of FAS“The cookies on my daughter’s computer know more about her interests than her teachers do.”Who ends up with all the info on young adults, children, students?Google, Raytheon, Microsoft,Corporate Govt.?The virulent push for technology in education is quite clear.Control machine will eventually “know more” about students/victims than they know about themselves?IT’s ALWAYS PROFIT OVER ETHICS!Help from parents, teachers,&community over tech. engagement is badly needed.
Great job! Funny how the "Back to Basics" thrust of the 1980's and NCLB of the 2000's have contributed nothing other than to raise the dropout rate and crime rate. True educational reform must be bottom up and not top down. We should start with a mandate that politicans need to stay out of the classroom... classrooms they no longer fund properly anyway.
Wonderful motivational video clip!! I would also love to embed this video in my website at if you allow me. I am going to forming a information and communication technology (ICT) based school in Bangladesh.
@anderscj Military instructors spend a lot of time teaching the new troops that weapons are not dangerous, it is the soldier who must be dangerous. The tools are incidental. Same goes for education. Give me a blackboard and a box of chalk and 30 kids who"want" to learn and I will match your technokids talent for talent and then more. There seems to be an inverse ratio related to learning and the amount of stuff associated with it. All that other stuff is just incidental.
i really believe that adults are still the primary tool to make our children evolve in and learn technologies. let us not allow them to do things by themselves or else they will rule adults.worst.....
Technology should be used to enhance learning - not replace F2F human interaction which is happening in our school systems. Students should relate to and interact with each other and their teachers - not to things. Perhaps this is why there is such violence in schools? Food for thought - BTW - I teach technology.
I support an increase in the use of technology and technology training in our classrooms. Alas it seems impossible as the control is not with the teachers and is instead with the federal government.
Don't understand how this video gets 4 stars - its insipid, uninspiring, boring with platitudes from the equivalent of a sixth grade English essay played to an unsuitable musical score. Too many "We need..." statements and little subtance.
Its substance is quite that of a powerpoint presentation at a beginner level than a worthwhile video on youtube.
Thank you for your thoughtful feedback. I appreciate your honesty. I also take your comment as a sign that this video must have struck at least enough of a cord with you to provoke a reaction. I too often wonder why it gets so many stars, especially since it was the first video I ever posted to YouTube, one of the first videos I ever put together, and it was created in less than two hours one afternoon.
a change in font colour and music would make this a much better video, Most of your backgrounds are white and your pictures are bright so why use white font? and the music.. i dont know what to say.
Next generation of kids is going to control construction equipment with EEG headsets and the teachers don't know how to text message. The singularity is near
I am forming a non profit foundation to provide technology, ESL and training for approximately 4000 poor children in 8 schools in India (Pilot program). I would love to embed this video in my website if you allow me.
E-Learning, i'm a student of it... My school had the Asus Minibook laptop launch on the first two evenings of December 08, and gave every year 9 pupil an Asus laptop for free to trial the E-Learning scheme, and we have a VLE, but i can see it making things like handwriting skills, and actual face to face communication an issue
Do schools kill creativity? If creativity was a person schools would be it's concentration camp! I think that young people are going through a creativity holocaust perpetrated by teachers especially ones who hate their jobs. Everyone who agrees this is a disgusting inconvenient truth give me a thumbs up. BTW I'm only twenty years old and I understand this. But hopefully one day interesting technology will change this.
Speaking from personal experience, as a technology teacher and as a lecturer: everyone gets exactly what they put into it!
I grew up in a very poor working class family, I worked summers to save up to go to a private high-school. I choose, and paid for my own school so I was determined to get my monies worth.
Bullshit dude. Let's cut the crap. Im 18 and i know for a fact "They" DONT want to learn. If they wanted to learn they would have stopped fuckin around on the internet at school and start doing some work outa the fuckin books. They dont want to learn. And what happens if you implement the computer at school for the majority of class work? Guess what, they go fuck around on the internet, they dont go do there work.
@BornFreeSoLiveFree First, I want to say I don't appreciate the fowl language but it does violate one of my core principles to censor your comments so your comments will remain here unedited. However, don't you think the problem with the students you describe has more to do with how their teachers motivate them to learn than what they choose to do when they are given access to the internet? Part of what this technology changes is how teachers who use it have to approach teaching.
We first need to teach students how to spell - second screen - fyi, environemnt is correctly spelled: environment. READING, WRITING, ARITHMETIC. Basics first, games and fun later.
I guess you're typing this message on your IBM Selectric, huh? And you don't believe kids should use calculators. Technology is FUN is it? Education should be painful in your world.
Please check out my channel (CarlosMercado09)...I recently uploaded a video about the Cristo Rey Network, a program that is transforming the lives of inner-city students through education and corporate work experience in various major cities throughout the United States.
What about teaching children how to organically interact face to face?
Or is that outdated too like 8 tracks and Black And White televison. You wonder why people have no manners its because this stechnology is forcing us into an asperger add culture. We are sick. These machines are not helping. Are we becoming better human beings? Isnt that our purpose?
I am not advocating for a technology only learning environment. Surely face to face instruction is still very important. The point I am trying to make is that this technology stuff is not going away and if we ignore it our children will be left to find their own way there. The only other option is to shed all technology altogether and join an Amish community.
I lost two careers to technology. I have been called a "Black Swan" because dispite being a science fiction fan I have future Shock. But what has helped me most is An interview I watched 2 days ago by Mr Rogers. He talked about the first time he saw a television. He watched people smashing pies in each others faces. He didnt understand why. He could see the creative potential that TV had a s a learnimng medium. SO I will go back and try to finsd a place for myself in all this .
I love your video. You are exactly right! Please consider changing some of the font colors. At times the words are difficult to read, and that's a shame.
NOO!!!.The only tie kids use technolgy in school is to play games!.It is worthless

the video got 4 stars because people get the message.
