If I am out on my motorbike and have a crash, I am taken to the hospital and my broken bones are fixed and I receive superb care and all at no cost to me at the time. The National Health System is treasured by the British. The Doctors and Nurses are loved and respected by the people . The system in the USA is shocking & sad.
I totally agree that the insurance companies are such fakers and gives promises that they can't keep. They sell you the product and when you are in need of help, they push you away saying " Well sorry you are covered for that but you did not reach the number of days needed for staying in hospital to claim your bills" and i go " What!" because it was not stated in the file, just the name list of sickness covered. thank god for the NHS, i know we moan about it but thank god we live in a forward thinking country which believes that decent health is a right and not a luxury afforded to the few. it has its problems but its there as a safty net when we need it. there is something strange about the way the US views welfare. as though having it takes away rights rather than being a support net for the most needy.

For your information I live in the UK and pay 22% tax from my paycheque, (NOT 50% like you think!) Yes we pay a lot of money for petrol, but then our cars do 50 MPG! There is no waiting list you have to be on to be "approved". The average waiting time for surgery is low (8 weeks), and if you need urgent treatment, then there is no wait at all. Our healthcare costs a lot less too, as it's not run to make a profit. All of the money goes into healthcare!

This is an amazing movie. I can't help but admire Moore for bringing this issue to the forefront of the American discussion, amid criticism and partisan sniping.
It's important for all Americans to be reminded that if they want to live in the greatest country in the world, we better make sure the country is actually up to par.

Wealthy foreigners who can pay cash for their American healthcare get the best available, of course. By the way, many wealthy foreigners also go to Great Britain, Germany, or France for cash-up-front healthcare, which is every bit as good as American.

If I am out on my motorbike and have a crash, I am taken to the hospital and my broken bones are fixed and I receive superb care and all at no cost to me at the time. I totally agree that the insurance companies are such fakers and gives promises that they can't keep. They sell you the product and when you are in need of help, they push you away saying " Well sorry you are covered for that but you did not reach the number of days needed for staying in hospital to claim your bills" and i go " What!" because it was not stated in the file, just the name list of sickness covered. thank god for the NHS, i know we moan about it but thank god we live in a forward thinking country which believes that decent health is a right and not a luxury afforded to the few. it has its problems but its there as a safty net when we need it. there is something strange about the way the US views welfare. as though having it takes away rights rather than being a support net for the most needy.

all you have to do is go there and you talk to some of the girls they will tell you they have phds in medical education. As soon as you get off a resort and go in the country it is poor and depressing. For your information I live in the UK and pay 22% tax from my paycheque, (NOT 50% like you think!) Yes we pay a lot of money for petrol, but then our cars do 50 MPG! There is no waiting list you have to be on to be "approved". The average waiting time for surgery is low (8 weeks), and if you need urgent treatment, then there is no wait at all. Our healthcare costs a lot less too, as it's not run to make a profit. All of the money goes into healthcare!

Yeah, that doesn't make sense at all...unless they have maybe a few really young people watching to skew the average down so much. I thought the average age of a watcher was 90! ( but it can't be since the US has really poor longevity stats and we don't live as long as other countries! )

Health Care is excellent for the very Wealthy or the seemingly poor in the USA....It's the ones in the middle like me who are getting screwed and paying the bulk of premiums. Emergency room visit last April for a serious event , wait time 4 Hours, co-pay cost $389.00. The ER looked like a clinic in S. America. Cost to the majority of illigals in there....... NOTHING! You go Michael don't let the government spook you.....Let the people spook the Government!

And I know Americans saving some of their own money is ridiculous with these gas prices and this burdened economy. Once they are done with purchasing all of life's necessities like food, water, plasma TVs, IPODs, IPHONES, XBOX's for the young ones, ect., who has money left for that sort of thing? What Moore does not get is that the less Federal Government involvement in things like this, the better.

What's with this whole "government is bad," rubbish, anyway? If government is so bad at what it does, why don't we do what the Phoenicians did and use private armies? Why not have a firm of experienced consultants manage our diplomacy? HMO's have overheads of around 15-30% of gross. "Socialised medicine" in Canada has an overhead of around 3%. So who's really being efficient?

Libs like Moore would attack Bush whether he gives detainees health care or not. Its because of the likes of him that liability with detainees has become so paramount. Bush will not violate the Geneva Convention and he can not control private insurance companies. Please enlighten me on the actions the current admin. has taken to intentionally prevent health care reform.

Well in his state of the union Bush said that he believes health care would work better in private businesses as opposed to government bureaucracies. And as for the Libs attacking Bush whether he gives detainees health care or not, I can't prove or disprove that.

Pay closer attention, topshlf. Michael Moore took a group of 9/11 rescue workers to our Naval base in Guantanamo Bay, in Cuba. He wanted the 9/11 rescue workers to receive the same free health care that we're giving the Al Qaeda detainees. You certainly don't have a problem with 9/11 rescuers getting the same free health care that we're giving the Al Qaeda detainees, do you?

Topshif, The QUALITY of American healthcare has never been the issue. The DELIVERY and the AVAILIBILITY are the problems. Wealthy foreigners who can pay cash for their American healthcare get the best available, of course. By the way, many wealthy foreigners also go to Great Britain, Germany, or France for cash-up-front healthcare, which is every bit as good as American.
