  • good thing they put that song in my german version =)

  • don't put another game in this beautiful atmosphere of a game

  • WHO THINKS YANGUS SHOULD BE IN A SOULCALIBUR GAME!

  • @RaxusCarnelli There's a good chance he'll be in the next Super Smash Bros.

  • @O2Eater

I hear he's being considered for Ridge Racer.

  • Veterans played RPG games from the time that Square Enix was still Square Soft. :)

  • @MrNamine Or in Dragon Quest's case that would be when Square Enix was just called Enix, since DQ is an Enix franchise :P

  • @Mcmadness288 Haha yup :P

  • @MrNamine I remember playing Final Fantasy VII for YEARS before Square changed its name.

  • I just realized there's no Angelo in this pic xD

  • That comment still cracks me up lol

  • Finished the game yesterday for the first time, and I'm a very happy man!

  • @Elementmonkey2 i love dragonquest more then you, but im thumbing you down for lack of consistancy.

  • @Foilsdown I love Dragon Quest more than anybody here.

  • @LjinkBoy Veterans played dragon warrior

  • @Foilsdown Veterans of rpgs played Ultima.

  • wow these producers got floww

  • when I get better I will do a version of this on my guitar

  • @Elementmonkey2 Both series are good, discouraging one or another without a reason is pretty childish (from one or the other side)

  • Comment removed

  • @RaxusCarnelli Wait, the hero would never speak like a French Chainsmoking Douchebag.

  • @Elementmonkey2 Both series in my opinion are great (even though I don't know why SquareEnix is trying to make DQ a MMORPG more then a single player Experience nor why their screwing up FF, Hope FF XIII-2 and DQX don't disappoint, I'm hoping DQX is more like DQIX was in letting you create you party and play offline with a good story to boot cause I don't know why SE is getting hard on MMORPG's lately don't thay know the only good one are WOW and soon to be The Old Republic)

  • Dragón Quest VIII... =)!!!!

  • Amazing, the Symphonic (in game) version is much nicer, in my opinion, than the one on the regular ost.

  • @CarbonDoggie I agree. The symponic music gave the gave a very nice feeling. It like, sucks you into the world. I used to walk around on the map looking at all the scenery, and the music seemed really fitting.

  • This on 3ds... Would just be... Perfect. PLEASE make it!

  • Best game ever.

  • best song in the game!

  • koichi sugiyama kicks ass at orchestrating the music for dragon quest! I have to say, dragon quest, crono trigger and final fantasy do have the best video game scores ever..

  • Can anyone answer me? I remember that in my version of the game the soundtrack is only the "Symphonic Version", therefore, there's no "Original Version", how come? Oh, I have a PAL version of the game

  • @TheDallaStyle Original version is the Jap version Symphonic is the English version

  • i dont which series is better i just like Rpgs :D

  • I find it funny when a troll of a game series posts a hate comments about a rival game series. Especially when that comment makes it into the top comments. I like both the Dragon Quest and Final Fantasy, but I prefer Final Fantasy. I like the story telling, character development, music, and general gameplay more than the DQ games. Then again, I've been playing FF longer than I've been playing DQ. Anyways, both are amazing video game franchises.

  • @Elementmonkey2 Seeing the thumbs up, FF fans seem to be absent here! =D

Well, technically I AM a FF fan also but aren't you telling the truth? heh

  • 0:00-4:08 pure epicnessssss

  • @ThePogeymanzepic I agree.

  • see dq has the right level of difficulty that anyone can handle and ff1 get uber hard at the end

  • Although both series are great, I prefer Dragon Quest mainly because of its colorfol atmosphere. I like the cartoonish monsters, and fast turn based combat.

  • @Elementmonkey2

While I agree that DQ is awesome, I personally in my opinion find Final Fantasy (Mainly 7) better.

  • @ZPokemonfanA bro dont feed the troll it aint worth it but yes ff is better

  • @ZPokemonfanA 7? I dunno. I rather found the characters in dragon quest more colorful and entertaining while final fantasy was just kinda. Eh. Lets just say I wanted to like it but it wasn't interested in making that easy for me.

  • @shadowhexogram

Well, the storyline in 7 was the best one I've probably ever seen.

  • @ZPokemonfanA Really? The War of the lions contains the best Square enix story I've ever played. And then outside that pen Odin sphere was amazing to play that I honestly would do it wrong just describing it to you.

  • @shadowhexogram

I have never played it, and if it is on a XBOX console or Playstation 3 or PSP, I have no intention of getting it. (I stick to Nintendo and rarely pay a trip to memory lane on my Playstation 1 and 2)

  • @ZPokemonfanA Well odin sphere is on playstation 2 and obviously these days really cheap and yes war of the lions is available for the psp or at the very least the psn but if you don't want to get it thats too bad really. It's a really nice game but then again persona is a really nice game series I hear and I wouldn't touch that with a ten foot pole so that's how it goes.

  • @ZPokemonfanA

Ramza rape Cloud while having breakfast, Tactics have the best story of all FF titles.

  • @ZPokemonfanA If FF7 makes its way to the 3DS, that console will have two of the most acclaimed games ever!

  • i love the music in the game so much! i like dark ruins music and bird music

  • @calliefornia123 me too! Its beautiful aint it? :3

  • trop génial!

  • Comment removed

  • Epicness. You're doing it RIGHT.

  • Thumbs up if your first RPG was an Enix game!

    Soul Blazer FTW~~~!!!!

  • Dragon quest 8 ftw!!!! <33 Music, characters and storyline, so much better than any other rpg game, not that i have anything against ff, fable and such, but DQ8 is my fav! <3 :D

  • @Elementmonkey2 I agree, DQ is soo much better than final fantasy, the music, storyline and characters! Dragon quest is so much better on so many different levels! xD

  • the best of final RPG boss !!!!!!!!!!!

  • @GilgameshxEnkidu1992 the best song of RPG final boss !!!

  • I don't have any thing ageist Final Fantasy, i actually think its a great game, espahily the ones on ps1 and ps2, but Dragon Quest is more interactive, a bit like Fable, and thats why I think Dragon Quest is the better yet harder game :)

  • @Elementmonkey2 You do know both series are owned by the same company right?

  • @Mcmadness288 they weren't originally, after FF10 sqaure joined together with enix, they have been competing against each other for years, but yeah, they are the same company now, i think they both made great games, enix had valkyrie profile, dragon quest etc. while sqauresoft had final fantasy, xenogears etc.

  • @MrDeathnotefan98 the thing is that dragon quest became more popular in japan while final fantasy became popular here

  • @MrRob127 well dragon quest has been around longer, and it used to be exclusive to japan anyway FF wasnt, although they did skip a few games for some reason

  • kefka and seph thumbed this video down before being swallowed by the manboobs of rapthorne

  • first ever DQ i've played and i gotta say, WOW. i would spend countless hours on this...

  • @YKMSanada same, was the first one i played too, started with the demo and before then i never even knew of this series, although i dont think it was ever released here, even as dragon warrior

  • @Elementmonkey2 I like FF, but also DQ. Why must people simply hate on the rivals of their favorites? Both games inspired one another throughout the years.

  • WHOA MAN THIS FUCKIN AWSOME

  • @RenjiXIII ...Is it bad that I read that in Rhapthorne's voice?

  • @Kohdok Yes, but it will also be funny as hell. XDDDD

  • 1:43 - 2:06 <3

  • Rhapthorne certainly qualifies for being one of the series most evil villains. He viciously kills seven people, most of which were beloved and kind. He even possesses one of the victim's family members to continue his killing spree. He may just be another evil overlord archetype, but the grudge against him gets personal.

  • @vopop30

    WOW, JUST WOW

    SEVEN WHOLE PEOPLE

    THIS GUY IS FUCKING SUPER-HITLER

  • @omgcandy16Kimicari0 Okay, Hargon anf the Dragon Lord may end up getting a higher body count(that we're told of), but Rhapthorne sort does the Indoctrination thing from Mass Effect where he completely controls whoever holds the staff he's sealed in, and the hosts can't do a damn thing to fight it. He also wipes out one of the most sacred and densely populated places in that world, killing out what was probably 98% of the people there.

  • definantly in my top 10 RPG themes and games for that matter thx for posting

  • @Xyonos LOL, I think this one bests Zoma, but Corvus is still my fave

  • @Elementmonkey2

Sup, playing some Dragon Quest and Final Fantasy side by side and not discriminating.

  • @RenjiXIII lmfao i burst out laughing after reading that

  • @xGolbezx I kinda wonder if he travels by rolling. lol

  • The ending is awesome

  • hahah DIE RAPTHORNE!

  • took 40+ hours to get to this BGM.

    *drools*

  • Rhapthorne: the best boss ever and hes unlike other bosses hes really hate able

  • @ThePlatinumMatt

Rhapthorne is awesome, but I like Sephiroth better.

  • @ZPokemonfanA I prefer Kuja.

  • @doombybbr

    Well, okay. Your opinion.

  • who else thinks this is better than the original version

  • In this world there are to 2 people who must die immedeatly

  • @ThePlatinumMatt lol I'm chalking those up to butterfingers...this tune is mindblowing.

  • sch wieder meine mutter stinkt scho die ganze zeit

  • scheiß lied

  • this is the ultimat boss music

and can someone please tell me how to spell ulitumat

  • @ThePlatinumMatt Ultimate

  • @corjonbett thanks your the ultimate :)

  • The drums in this are just terrific. Thew opening minute is just masterful.

  • RHAPTHORNE FOR DQIX NOW DAMMIT!! I can't wait til June!

  • The final boss was awesome. Who cares if he is fat? there are NO OTHER RPG FINAL BOSSES that are fat. That makes him original. Thus you can clearly see the designers put thought in the game, and don't just make a.. ''muscular, fan-girl magnet, sexy, anime'' fag.

  • @mirrorpiece including dq5? (mildrath's dragon form is pretty fat.)

  • @fantasto5 Havent played it yet:P

  • Quite possibly the best RPG ever...

  • @0wooow0

It's an epic game but there are several RPGS that I like more.

  • @0wooow0 Damn, first DQIX, then DQVI and now this! Wait... are all of them DQ games?

  • O.o..............

  • @Zzzapper1

    O_____O

  • Composer:すぎやまこういち(1931 - )

  • rhapthorne IS scary for one reason: man boobs

  • Even though the final boss looked kind of... childish, this boss theme made the battle epic.

  • @Azdrerios

Have you never played a dragon quest game before?!

  • @jackson1333 Yes I have!!!1111½!!!!!one

  • @Azdrerios you know how many people this 'childish' boss killed?

  • @megachief1 Quite many. And I never said the boss itself was childish, I was merely pointing out Rhap's appearance is somewhat childish looking. As for the boss himself.. I'll probably get myself a new EFFhole for this one, but I would've preferred to see Dhoulmagus as the final boss. There, I said it.

  • @Azdrerios Hes a fat purple blob with yellow eyes and his stomach looks like an a hole... you tell me that isnt scary as shit

  • @PancakeGeneral It isn't scary as shit. At least not to me it isn't.

  • @Azdrerios I kinda have to agree with you. Rhapthorn wasn't really that intimidating appearance wise. I remember all those years back when I first fought him and even till this day I gotta say that the atmosphere: PERFECT! Concept: PERFECT (I wish there was a thunderstorm going on though...) music: PERFECT! Boss:...Its a fat purple blob with horns... It kinda ruined it for me.

  • @Azdrerios To me, he looks kinda familiar...

  • @frostare He looks like SATAN FROM SOUTH PARK.

  • @Darlos9D

Well, for me, he looks like a fusion of Phil and Pain from Hercules. Also very big, unbelievably fat and wields a staff.

  • Awesome music to finish off an awesome game.

Good soundtracks appeal to me the most in a video game, and Dragon Quest has never disappointed in this area.

This music was especially great when the more lighthearted part of it plays and you're cruising around Rhapthorne on the back of Empyrea, preparing your next volley of attacks against him.

  • Ok all time to kill Prince char- oops I mean Rhapthorne, my bad =P

  • yes, at the end! shit I died, AGAIN wtf?!

  • Wow, the instruments go all out when it's all calm. That is freaking epic

  • This has made me decide to play this over from the beginning. The last time I played this was when I was 14. Now I'm 17 and seeing all the different points of view in the world, and getting jokes I didn't get before!

  • loved this game

took me like 80 hours to finish

i wanna do a playthrough with everyone putting points in only fisticuffs.

  • dang 180 hours, guess i couldve havent been nearly close to the end when i rented it from gamefly, the hours of gameplay makes me want to rent and beat it. I beat dragon quest sword in like 20 or less.

  • dun dun dun DUNNN!

  • ok...nothing to do with the music itself, but I when I speed-read the title of this video I thought it said "Great Big Fat in the Sky" O.O

  • @Ningflingslinger That's essentially what Rhapthorne's final form is. xD

  • @Aerosmithfan684 I once saw a really big wallpaper with Rapthorne and it spelled "The Fat-Ass Menace"

    Cannot be coincidence.

  • @Ningflingslinger but that describes rhapthore very well

  • koichi sugiyama = epic :D

  • This was the best and most epic last boss fight i've had since the first time I beat Final Fantasy 6 many many years ago.

  • makes me feel like to beat rapthorne again

  • needed 200 hours to finish it...but i used alot of hours to get 99 level evryone

  • Now where'd my MPC get too..?

  • This song wrapped up the best 89 hours of my life lolol

  • ending. true epicness

  • Rapthorne's music in its final form of fat xD

  • @XxP1K4ROxX

    XD

  • WOOOOOOO!!

    That is all.

  • the best ending/last boss music in the damn world i swear japanese people never seize to amaze me

  • @femalerepear224 Especially when this version of the song never made it to the japanesse version. Only a midi-ish version was in the japanesse version.

  • @NeoArashi Maaa-haaaa-haaan the Japanese consumers do not know what they're missing (no offense to the Japanese)! XD

  • I would be cool to have the game choose from either the original score of the music or symphonic version, that would have been awesome.

  • he was fat lol

  • 00:47 to 1:15 is my favorite part. It like, gets my blood pumping.

  • @StrangeClams Same here. Best part of the music.

  • God this brings back good memories :)

  • I still have this game and the music is God given, there all in Orchestrated. Is that normal? because theres an original version? O.o

  • this game is definitely with a western audience in mind, i mean, sure, its really popular in japan, but in the states and Europe, this is like nutella... pure awesomeness

  • @FF18Cloud

DQ games are more popular in japan than the US. They always have and probably always will be.

    (nutella is pure awesomeness though)

  • @Belharg i think its cuz not a lot of americans truly kno of this game... but i actually ment europe and na, not just the us XD

  • 1:47 to 2:09 is just plain amazing, best part of the song.

  • @SkellionPowalskiz I agree! It's my favorite part too.

  • Meddling pests! How much more of my time will you waste?

    ~Rhapthorne

  • @ 1:48

  • one part is a remix of Heavenly Flight

  • Man, this battle theme is addicting. Just very recently beaten the game blind for a stream, and this boss certainly deserved every moment of this song.

  • whos the fucker who disliked this

  • Wow, this game surprised me. Took me 90 hours to beat excluding side missions. Simply a brilliant game, amazing soundtrack. Great job Level 5, and Square Enix you made yet another masterpiece!!!

  • @Sora1Kratos i pumped in 131 hours (and that's with the piggy back guide)

even though i used the Guide is still had lot's of fun.

And GOD This game is epic ,

This track even brought tears to my eyes

  • This fatass was lucky to get such an awesome battle theme.

I may just enjoy ear-rape, but I think lil'Rhapthorne should have had more lines.

Do you think it was Rhapthorne that was speaking, or Sir Leopold during those scenes?

I personally think that the only victim Rhapthorne had total control over was Marcelo, and that was only for a couple of seconds.

  • lolz i wish this game is as long as the speedrun should be 300 hours O.O

  • It took me 160 hours to beat the game, and another 100 in beating the Dragovian Trials, so I've spent 260 hours on this one game! Was worth it though, after Rogue Galaxy, its the best PS2 RPG, and IMO is better then FFVII... better put up the Flame shield! lLOL! Oh and the soundtrack is awesome, eccpecially this track, gave me chills down me spine for the first time playing!

  • @Klonoa7H its true. i recently downloaded FF7 on psn and i thought it was good, but nowhere near as good as DQ8

  • @100TheGreendevil Too be honest i kinda agree with you there :P Let's just say FF7 was the best game on PS1 and DQ8 was the best game on PS2 xD no rivalry there.
