I'm assuming you have RCN cable as your cable box looks identical to the one in my house. The RCN remotes can be customized with special codes based on the TV manufacturer. Call them up and they'll guide you through the process, I know, it is very irritating to have to change the volume and/or channel with separate remotes.

@sozialedemokratie - I was there on a government job so it was according to NYC per diem rates. I believe they were about $200/day.
