I was thinking about getting an iphone but i gave up....
when I went to a more isolated part of Catalina Island my phone (verizon) was the only one working and so EVERYBODY kept asking if they could use it...
SAME thing happened in Big Bear....
it only sucks to have verizon cuz everybody wants to use it :p
I just got the new xenon phone from AT&T and i was getting major issues. BUT I FOUND A SOLUTION. The problem with AT&T is their 3G network.... it's flooded with bandwidth from all the iphones. I temporary solution to this problem is to find out your phone's engineering number... dial it and change it from a dual-band or 3g network to a 2g network only. Ya it's not a 3g network so downloads are slow... but at least it doesn't drop your calls. I tested this on my phone and it worked. Thanks google
I can hardly even make a call on at&t anymore. Calls are constantly dropped, reception is spotty, call quality fluctuates between bad and so bad I can't even make out what the other person is saying. AT&T SUCKS! APPLE SUCKS FOR PUSHING THEIR SUCKY SERVICE ON THE IPHONE. BOTH COMPANIES SHOULD BE HAULED INTO COURT ON ANTI-TRUST CHARGES! The at&t network isn't even close to being able to handle the iphone on on its SUCKY 3G NETWORK. APPLE SUCKS! AT&T SUCKS! AT&T SUCKS! AT&T SUCKS! AT&T SUCKS!
5 years, 1 dropped call, it was to a person with sprint and the phone just said call ended not call dropped so I think it was his phone that dropped the call. Don't know what to tell you, every company has variable service depending on area.
That's not an AT&T branded phone which menas it was never test on the AT&T network. And dependeing on what version of the N73 you have, it might not have the correct radio with bands of GSM/UMTS signal for he U.S.A.
AT&T's biggest problem and reason for dropped calls is their call hand-off system. Basically the networks ability to transfer calls from tower to tower. This will all go away tiwh 700mhz LTE. In my honest opinion as an unbiased person in the matter, AT&T will change by the end of the year dramatically. This year and next year are going to hail many changes for them. They are competing heavily with Verizon. From a techincal perspective however, it's going to get interesting really soon.
as an an RF engineer, i can tell you that the signal meters on cell phones usually mean nothing 8 out of 10 times. GSM phones are more accurate, but you should see the decibel levels stream up and down on verizon phones when using the proper tools and equipment, you just don't see them because verizon uses a proprietary G.U.I. that doesn't take that into account. The networks are digital now a days, you need minimum signal strength for a clear call to go through.
don't know what your talkin about. i have at&t and i get serive everywhere. and i can talk for hours without droping a call. i have a blackberry and it works amazing. i have dropped calls, but thats in my basement that hardly gets good radio signals. and the quaility of the call depends all on the phone. i had a razr while my dad has a samsung A727 i think and his service sucks. so he used my old razr and it worked great. so it all depends on the phone. not the service
I agree AT&T Sucks. Currently I am at the executive CS team of the Presiden working with Nelda Washington. If you would like to chat with her, her direct line is 336-286-5425. Give her a call, she might be able to help.
all you who have problems with at%t cell phone signal must live in a bad area. i have never once had a problem with mine, and i have have had it for over 4 years.
AT & T's mobile phone service SUCKS, too. Their store employees are CLUELESS and only wish to provoke an argument. Verizon is MUCH better on ALL accounts!
thats not at&t, its ur cellphone. trust me. the phone is what matters most! i had a samsung t519 for t-mobile and signal was great. then i got a krzr k1(also for t-mobile) and its poor/ and its using the same sim card.
HA! I'm surprised you were able to hold the call as long as you did. When I had them, I couldn't hold a call for more then 1 minute. EVER! And during that one minute, the quality was *so* terrible, I couldn't understand a word. And I'm in CHICAGO!! COME ON! So Glad I Got Rid of them!
By the way - Did the call ever drop? If so, How long after this?
The call did drop RIGHT AS she was telling me that there were widespread reception issues across Illinois. I was heading to Indiana that day anyway, and sure enough, everything cleared up shortly after crossing the border.
well, there ARE reception issues in Illinois. Believe me, I know. Although, My entire experience with AT&T was in many states across the country while traveling, all with terrible reception. And a quick Google on cell phone reception issues yields A LOT of people across the country with AT&T that have the same problem.

Switch to Verizon: better 3G coverage, or get Sprint (4G). Those two companies make a lot of profit since their coverage is 10x better than AT&T
AT&T = slow internet, coverage, crappy HDTV service.
Verizon=sweet coverage, fast internet
Sprint=Verizon but they have 4G
Comcast=better HD service, internet, and landline service

okay #1: creepy timing - as soon as he hit the send button, my home phone started ringing... weird.
My mom's phone does this - seems to drop from EDGE to GSM at the same time, but I'm not sure. My phone, on HSPA, doesn't do it.
