wait, I'm confused by some of the comments, I thought the games went, metal gear(nes) snakes revenge(nes) and than metal gear 1 - 4 on the various playstation consoles (minus the psp one I have no clue where it fits in) and I will say this game is very fun but not impossible just beat it the other day :) the metal gear series is the greatest tho if metal gear took place in outer heaven, which is refrenced in the metal gear on ps1, but they also mention zanzabar land what game is that in?

The Zanzibar Land incident, where Big Boss was "killed" (well suppose to be until MGS4 fucked that up for NO GOOD REASON, thus ruining his final words in the game) was in Metal Gear 2 Solid Snake. It was only released in Japan on the MSX2 computer system until 2006 when they released it as part of Subsistence (it's on the 2nd disc not in the collectors edition).

@snake2006 i got good news, i just bought metal gear solid peace walker and i have to say, you do not mess with the soldiers without boaders army. i am currently at the point where you get a message saying you need mess hall staff, and i have been hitting the firing range. also i used my knockout gun instead of other guns, but anyways its fun and the mixture of strategy, rpgs, and (like the logo says) tactical stealth action!!!! makes it even better (even though i am not good at strategy).

It is so worth it.

I got to the part where I have to fight a tank. I haven't played it in a month or so, mostly my girlfriend has been taking allot of my time. She bought the new kitty and I have been around to help train it, and take it to the vets for check ups. I never have time to play the game, I am busy working or with my GF.

I will get some time to finish the game, but already I like this much more than the HUGE bad taste MGS4 left in my mouth.

Very simple. NANOMACHINES the biggest cop put ever for everything in MGS4.

And Johnny has irritable bowel syndrome and is afraid of needles hence why he doesn't have the nanomachines.

Plus bringing Big Boss back to life at the end ruins his epic speech at the end of MG2 Solid Snake.

I have been a MG fan since the NES release all those years ago and have bought systems just for MG games.

MGS4 is the crappiest of them all. Pure crap, everything seemed half assed in my opinion.

For anyone who is confused, this game is not canon to the metal gear timeline.

Metal Gear 2: Solid Snake is, MGS1 following after it.

And if you watch a walkthrough of it you'll see that alot of things from MG2 were used in MGS. Such as the infamous cardboard box, or crawling over mines to collect them, the alert/caution phases, ect.

@danbaker90 Ultra Games didn't need permission since they are own by Konami. Metal Gear is the property of Konami not Kojima. That is like saying Shigeru Miyamoto didn't give the developers permission to make the next Mario game. Nintendo owns Mario not Shigeru Miyamoto.

The same for Metal Gear which is property of Konami. If Kojima leaves Konami guess what? Metal Gear will still belong to Konami and still be made with out Kojima.

@danbaker90 Snake Revenge sold less than the first MG, BUT it still sold millions world wide. Both NES games outsold the MSX versions. Keep in mind that there where more NES users world wide than the MSX.

Both of the Metal Gear games on the NES are good. Don't let the fans fool you. Snake's Revenge added lots of new elements too. In which was remove in MGS on PS1. That element finally return in MG Solid 3 on the PS2. NES to PS2 DAMN!

Also Ultra Games was the base of Konami of USA at the time

Fanboys can be such a tool without thinking for them self. It was a developer from Ultra Games that convince Kojima to make a true MG2, after Ultra Games Snake's Revenge. Snake Revenge is the key why Kojima was convince.

SR added lot's of new elements some made it to MG2 than it took all the way to MGS3 to put the rest of the elements of SR to MGS3.

Ultra Games play a big roll of new game play to MG. Again many don't know that.

Hideo Kojima, the creator of the Metal Gear series, has NEVER left Konami. Snake's Revenge was actually made by Team Akama at Konami, the same people at Konami that made the Castlevania sequels on NES. People tend to forget that Kojima was a nobody at Konami until Metal Gear Solid came out in 1998.

By the way, this game is not all that bad. Yes, the side-scrolling areas are a pain as well as the overall difficulty level, but the game is not significantly different from the MSX originals.

Also, if you notice there are no elements derived from Snake's Revenge that you see in MG2: Solid Snake. I mean, other non-canon games have been recognized by Kojima, but you won't find this game anywhere on his official website. So... Kojima liked it? Hardly
