3 hours. oh my. I've been working on a 2 foot Scottish spoon for 2 weeks.. Out of poplar though as I can't find any speciality wood around where I live and I'm doing it all by hand. No power tools. :(
@mbritton34 I didn't do mine all in one day, either -- that was three hours, across about 4 days. All for a 3-inch spoon. :) A 2-foot spoon sounds like quite an undertaking! I'd love to see pictures when you finish it.
I can not comprehend how good you made this look

wow that's a thing of beauty, what wood did you use, lime?
falco1066 6 months ago
@falco1066 Just basswood, actually. I'd love to try lime sometime, though!

@jamisbuck Lime is great to carve, one of the best spoons a have made was lime, I more often use sycamore as its easy to get hold of here

Kinda wonder if the dremel would be good for this?
Moe7133 1 year ago
@Moe7133 I'm not much into power carving myself, but I'm sure a dremel would work fine.

Good work, Jamis! A worthy hobby if ever there was one. Definitely not what I was expecting from my daily "Signal vs Noise" feed.

Jamis, if I didn't know better I would think you carved wood for a living. This just shows that us "computer people" can do more than just program.
