Whoa... I didn't think to consider The Super Mario Brothers Movie as an entirely original idea, as opposed to an appaling misadaptation of the video game. You see, that's what separates this movie review series from most others: Critical outside-the-box thinking.

As for the film, at least it's not as bad as the short-lived Super Mario Brothers Super Show. That series at its best is about a dozen times worse than the film at its worst.

I always find it annoying when people claim that the Mario Bros. movie sucked because it didn't follow the story of the games and such... wait... WHAT STORY?! The games never HAD a story so it cannot follow a story that doesn't exist. Can it? No... all the plot is, is beat the level and save the princess. That's it. I loved the movie as a child and I still love it. I also have some gripes with the movie, but not enough to just say it sucks.

Tomb Raider: maybe even more important than good. Inspired Jolie to spend years/millions of HER own time/money to REALLY help many refugees and disadvantaged folks in the world, inspiring many others to do same. How many movies can do that?

The Core: Basic premise is silly or metaphorical, sure, so please judge by characters, who are dynamic & fun, and performances, that are touching, rich, subtle. Themes are very caretaker-grownup, so kids may not get it. "Just 3 of them!" It's ecology.

Twister is one of my best films I like Dante's Peak the most which gets a 10 but Twister still gets a 7.

The Core has really bad science but still a fun movie to watch so would give this a 6.

While twister has it's exhilarating moments and a nice plot flow to follow, along with good visual effects I liked your comment on how the core is 'laughable'. Hey on the subject of movies based on video games. You should seriously review Heavy Rain but do it movie night style. Heavy Rain is an Immersive movie that is done from a video game. I thought it sucked at first but it became absolutely epic very soon in. It's a great idea to introduce some of your non gamer fans to one of the great movie games.

Twister: This movie doesn't really qualify as a "disaster" movie, but if you like guys putting they're lives out on the line to see how a tornado works, you'll love it. 8/10.

The Core: This does qualify as a disaster movie. Not the best sci-fi movie but it is kinda good if you're a sci-fi addict looking for good-quality action. 5/10

Twister: A fairly original movie even with the cheesy romance thrown in (and the Wizard of Oz references in there). It definitely had one of the best conclusions I've seen before, however, it isn't perfect. 8/10
