  • ewwww its not even a sata cable its just a molex XD this pc is so old

  • @threatfiree Dude, the video is 3 years old, damn.. Molex still exist in even the latest PSU's and still offer the connectivity of Cathodes in the same way I showed here

  • @RazerWire722 i know >.> i use molex's for my fans when i dont have room but im saying ur optical drive uses molex's when the newer ones use sata cables and sata power calbes -

  • @threatfiree even the newest psu's have molex, moron.

  • for plugging it in,do I just take out the wire that goes into my optical drive, plug in the cathode one and then plug it back in?

  • @IxTeejxI Yup, simple as that. I've since learned you don't need to plug the other end back in and the lights will still work but obviously, in this case, the DVD drive would not

  • @RazerWire722 awesome. thanks for the help.

I got 2 x 12” Acrylic encased Cold cathode light tubes. 1x Inverter which has 2 connections for the 2 tubes. 1x Power Cable. 1x PCI mountable Rocker Switch ON/OFF. 1x Fixing kit Velcro or sticky pads for £7( $11) is that a good deal or did I get ripped off?

  • @IxTeejxI Yeah, sounds good to me! Lot of stuff there for not a lot of pennies

  • @RazerWire722 Good to know I didn't get ripped off! Thanks for all the help =D I cant wait to get them and install them, I already have fans with Blue LED's in them so my PC is gonna look BOSS =P

  • My PSU has an extra cable from the PSU can I plug it into tthat instead of using the Optical Drive Cable like you did? Or will this just not work?

  • @35Berrin Should work fine mate

  • lol! i think you need a new computer. look at all those old school ribbons! they dont even make those anymore!

  • @AceGamingProductions This was uploaded 2 years ago dude, I'm running I7's and GTX470's now!

  • nice cable management you got there :)

  • @froggythegamer Lol, Like I said in another comment, this was an instructional video, not about cable management. This was a cheapy nasty PC from PC World and has 0 cable management. Even the cable ties were an extra I threw in!

  • where can i get lights like that

  • @NoriesW go on your local Google page, type in "Cold Cathodes" and click the "Shopping" link at the top, that'll get you the cheapest prices

  • thanks but i dont have a credit card

  • @NoriesW In which case, you'll have to go to your local computer store and ask them, they might even order them in for you if you pay up front

  • Combine sound song :D What it is called ?

  • @TheInterSpire Can't help you I'm afraid, I got it when I downloaded SMod for HL2 I think. Download and have a look at that.

  • Is there a way where you can connect the cathodes to a soundcard so when your using the headset the cathodes lightup while your listening with your headset

  • @87905268 There are sound reactive cathodes on the market but I haven't looked for any I'm afraid.

  • easier than i thought

  • you have IDE in 2008!

  • @sulkoma Yeah, not exactly abundant with cash at that point. Whole new PC now though

  • @sulkoma what do you mean 2008? some new pc's come with ide still.

  • where can u get cold cathode?????????

  • @KRAZYkKID12345 Any online computer store should have some in dude

  • @RazerWire722 thx but instead i bought it from ebay for cheaper

  • @KRAZYkKID12345 xoxide.com

  • thank you man now i see my cathod shnie thanks to you!!!!!

  • Hey man! Don't listen to them! Your video is the only video which shows the correct way. I was trying to install the lamps directly in the PSU and my computer was crashing every time I turned it on, but, after see your video I tryed to install the lamps between the PSU and the HDD and now it works.

    Congratulations. Thank you.

  • HOw would I make them flash in sync with sound coming from the PC?

  • @daharvster Not 100% sure on that mate, probably take a chip inside your computer that changes the voltage and such with sound. There are multiple videos on youtube with sound responsive cathodes in them, better of asking them I'm afraid

  • @RazerWire722 its a special kind u have to buy :/

  • @RazerWire722 Lmfao its called sound reactive cathodes...

  • @daharvster hey man you can buy sound activated boards for lights just search around or go to pccasegear(.)com there like 4 dollars

  • @daharvster install the sonic driver

  • @daharvster Buy sound responsive Cold Cathodes :D

  • @daharvster You can use a thing called a sound module. just hook it up to the cathodes and it will cause the lights to flash in sync with the bass etc.

  • @daharvster just buy a cold cathode that has a sound sensitive mode as well and an on/off.

  • @daharvster Just use a sound-activated inverter like this: frozencpu (.) com/products/10452/ele-649/Logisys_Cold_Cathode_Sound_Activation_Inverter_Kit.html?id=9ksIiMyh&mv_pc=588

  • nice vid

  • And presto! Your computer will not light up lol

  • dude your wiring is SHIT!!! why would you put cathodes in a case that is so fucken messy, you have wires every wear your heat sink looks like shit and that graphics looks like it could of been eaten by fucken dinosaurs. get a better case, heatsink and some fucken Martha Sturirt to clean up them wires.

  • @erikblazer13 Dude, this rig is like 8 years old and store bought. If you'd spend 30 seconds looking at the argument I had with another guy, you'd fucking notice that my rig is way different now. And how am I meant to manage wires in a case that has 0 cable management?

  • your rig is pieace of shit compred rto mine

  • @XxtekiexX Thanks for your comment -.-

This rig, when this was done, was about 5 years old. My new rig is quad core, GTX470, thermo dynamic cooling, 1Tb HDD, a pair of SSD's in RAID 0 and a 700 PSU stuck in an Antec 1200. Don't bullshit me and say your rig is better than that, if it was then you'd be doing something better than looking at cold cathodes to stick in it.

  • @RazerWire722 ok core i7 920 asus p6t se 6 gb ddr3 antec 902 zalman cnps9700 blue led cooler antec true power 1000 wtt psu x2 1.5 tb 10000 rpm hdds and a blue ray rw disk drive if you dont believe me check out my vid my rig ntec 902 lol nub

  • @XxtekiexX Your mythical 1.5tb 10k rpm don't exist. Raptors come 300Gb tops and are still miles slower than my SSD's. Your cooler is worse, graphics, case, and drives. Case dismissed. Come back when you've got a competent PC that's worth a damn.

  • @RazerWire722 oops my bad its only 7200 i was thinkin 1000 for some reason but i know my video card is crap but soon i will be rinning a 9800 gt sli plus your a dumb ass to buy into soild state drives i can get almost 32 times more space for the same price think about it 256 gb of ssd is almost 800.00 dollars or so if i round numbers say 300 gb is 800 dollars for 1 ssd drive and 1.5 tb is around 110.00 dollars so for the price i can get around 10.5 tb or space you get 300 gb wow you r a nub!

  • @XxtekiexX and i doubt your cooler is doing jst is good as mine for cooling my cpu runs at 25*c at idol and 35*c at max load so shut up and look before you comment and i would like proof of your com insted of somthing that may just be fabricated out of your mind you nub

  • @XxtekiexX So you're getting 3 generation old cards and running them in SLi? What a dick move, SLi is shite, a GTX275 will get better performance and it's 1 card, requires less power too.

SSD's aren't for storage, they're for speed. My 1tb drives take care of the rest of it. 440MB/s read speed and 220MB/s write speed crushed your HDD's by a mile.

Any my cooler is easy good enough to keep my CPU temperatures down, not that temps even matter. You can have a pic when I get one.

  • @RazerWire722 lol u a noob i alredy looked at the benchmarks anmd it does waybetter than most singel cards out there including 5870 but i can bet we all agree that nvidia owns ati lol.

  • @XxtekiexX 9800GT's in SLI won't match a single 5870, link me.

Those cards are 2 generations old and weren't very good from the get go, they're crap now. SLi isn't the answer either, a single 5870 will trounce 9800's no problem

  • @RazerWire722 wow some people are fuckin stupid, how retarded do u have to be to say 2 9800's can beat a 5870, or even compare it for that matter....SLI is such a waste of time and money no matter what anyways

  • @RazerWire722 7 times as much not 32

  • lol hl2 music in the background

  • Dude if you cant insatall cold cathodes into a pc, your either a retard or you cant follow directions very well.

  • Thanks for the tutorial. I thought my next PC would look good with some lighting but I didn't think it would be easy to install. But obviously it is, thanks man.

  • The voices are the Combine from Half Life 2

  • I see IDEs. :P

  • dude how old is your pc? from the cave time:P

  • Very old, P4 on a 478, 3.2GHz and DDR RAM..

  • All the more reason to make it look pretty with cathode lighting haha.

  • That song is form S-mod.tactical =]

  • Something like that, I found it in Windows Media Player one day and decided it would be good for the tutorial

  • Whats does 5.0mAv mean could i wire 2 cold cathodes into a 12v ac/dc adapter that puts out 1000mA

  • AHHH its an IDE cable!

  • haha yeah, thats what i was thinking too. Also isnt that an old medion case? it certainly doesnt look like it has a side window :)

  • Similar to Medion, it's an Ei Systems case. They dont even have a website..

  • hehe cool, only reson i asked is coz i was upgrading my brothers aincient 8 year old PSU and it looked identical.

Got my cathodes a few days ago now one at the bottom and one at the top both hidden, the one at the top kept unsticking itself and i couldn't bare to watch it fall and get glass all over my case so i put a small amount of selotape on the ends and its all good hehe

  • good turtorial but.. i cant find those cables that you attach the cathodes to from psu i think.

  • Device manager wont, it's not got a data source. Unlike a hard drive that uses a Sata/IDE cable, the cathodes need power and that's all. Device manager wont even know it's there, that's supposed to happen lol.

  • im kind of confused.. where does the wire that you took out of the hard drive go after you've plugged the cathode wire in?

  • Thanks for the video!

This really easy the only tutorial on YouTube on how to install these things.

    Thanks again!

  • nice vid, but for a video like this, i would have liked it twice as much if:

a)no music. its ok to have intro music, but to have it playing throughout is just annoying.

b)replace the music with you speaking the instructions.

  • @naguto look, just mute this vid and get another vid up with music! Quite simple!

  • @naguto l2 press mute button ?

  • @naguto what are you, the youtube police?

  • Nice tut, I needed this.

BTW, did I hear Combine Soliders from Half-Life 2 in this video's music? O_O

  • Is it possible to buy these lights at a car store? I heard you could but then you'd have to do a wire job. Comments on this?

  • never heard that before.. you should check some websites about that.. 'cus it seems a bit.. akward? ^^

  • I seen videos on them. People say it's easier to get instead of ordering online then you just do a custom rewiring job which is easy I heard.

  • if you wana attach rocker/toggle switches to it then yea you can. :)

  • Ur video is virtually the only one on youtube that shows how to install cold cathodes.

  • At the end it says your PC will NOT have light. yeah you might wanna fix that up.

  • Fixed with a bubble, thanks for the heads up mate =)

  • No problems buddy

  • terrible cable management there, great video thanks, helped me a lot

  • Cheers mate, will sort out cables for next internal video.

    Glad I could help :)
