  • My dad was working in White Deer Texas and saw the tornado, We were livng 5 miles SE of Woodward when thr tornado hit.

  • Dude. Can anyone imagine this thing bearing down on you; at a time when little was known about tornadoes or what to do???

  • I've lived in Woodward all my life and was always interested in the tornado of '47. At the Pioneer museum there's so much on it, so many sad stories. It's odd to recognize buildings that were there in the pictures as well as in this video as buildings that were rebuilt and stand today. Haha, my grandma lives just down the street from the Old Hospital, one of the only buildings to survive that wasn't destroyed utterly, and it's one spooky place lol. Neat video reel :]

  • holy crap! thats my middle school thats shredded at 0:52 and thats it...they need to show more :( it was weird to see that :)

  • I live next to this one red hospital, one of the only buildings that has survived tornados! I saw stormchasers vehicle once its cool! :D

  • wow.....i cant believe this really happened where i live.

  • That looks like the 1933 Cuba tornado at 0:05-0:14! If it is then it's kind of strange how the Corn, OK tornado was always thought to be the first tornado ever caught on movie film until the mid 90's.

  • Wow. this made me remember how high the death toll was back then, when there was no real protection against Tornadoes.

  • Apparently this tornado was in around 2 miles wide at one point I believe, as I remember Vince Miller mentioning this on a documentary that was shown in the UK in around 94 :)

There's only 1 known picture of the tornado itself, which is either in it's early or decaying stage :)

Top rating yet again AC, it's always awesome to see the videos that you put up on here :), thank you :) Willie

  • Yes, I've seen that picture. It was taken near White Deer, Texas just after it had touched down. At it's widest it was 1.8 miles wide (the same as Greensburg in 2007).

  • Wow.. the damage is unbelievable. That must have been a monster.

  • woah
