  • uouwwwwwwwwwww emocionante !!! It's Gettin Tighter all the time !!!

  • Fuck yeah! MK IV!!

  • Oh Tommy bolin years, this will be interesting!

  • favor traducir en español

  • "It was California, mid 70's, I mean... what he was gonna be drinkin', milk?"

  • Yes, would like to get the new Phoenix Rising DVD/CD edition. Like many, big Tommy as well as Purple admirer.

  • movie without any MK II ??? hmmm.

  • This is VERY cool.Tommy Bolin was the link between Hendrix and Van Halen.

If the drugs could have been avoided this band could have done anything.

  • Phoenix Rising is in the top10 in the national music charts in Germany and charting right across Europe

  • Come Taste The Band Again. I know I will.

  • The DVD is called PHOENIX RISING whilst the contained documentary is titles 'Gettin' Tighter'

  • tommi bolin forever

  • Can somebody tell me if this was ever released??? I'm really anxious 'bout it, but I just can't find it anywhere to buy or download...

  • @jrba76 it will be out at 20th this month if im not much mistaken. Oh and they renamed this thing to ''Phoenix Rising''. Look it up.

  • Im not into guitars really ,Im a Hammond Organ gurl, l love my dads C3,but when l hear Tommy Bolin play guitar I just melt, you should check out his pre-Purple stuff,,,,,OMG,,,he moves me,he was kinda cute 2! RIP Tommy.

  • love glenn the only man who can sing

  • @massimog1000 the only man who can sing more than needs the be sang

  • thanks DAVE

  • WTF?????? :D :D :D Deep Purple isnt Hughes and Coverdale :D Its Ritchie Blackmore, Ian Gillan, Roger Glover, Paice and John Lord :D FreakiG Funny :D

  • I could listen to these stories from these guys over and over...Long Live the members of Deep Purple and their contributions (our enjoyment) thanks guys

  • Steve Morse needs to go back to the DREGS and then have the DIXIE DREGS OPEN for DEEP PURPLE (with RITCHIE BACK IN) NOW THAT WOULD BE A SHOW!

  • TOMMY BOLIN great guitarist....not BLACKMORE in any sense of the word...i mean who is....BLACKMORE IS GOD.... but BOLIN was FANASTIC...but such a waste to through yoru life away like that!

  • tommy bolin was the most correct guitarist for the deep purple mark 3 as blackmore were for the other two n his death was the most agonizing sadness to the rock ever ...but this video celebrates the few tough intense great job they relagate to all generations! very very good deeppupleos!

  • Anyway,it's a fantastic song!Rock mixed with swingy soul! The album"Come taste the band" will be classic!

  • David Coverdale???? (Please) Tommy Bolin (God rest his soul & amazing guitar)...BUT!! These guys WERE NOT DEEP PURPLE. Never were, never will be. Maybe you could include Rod Evens, but Deep Purple was Blackmore, Glover, Gillan, Paice, Lord. That's it.

  • @RmFrmagnm They are not referring to Bolin's death but a roadie's murder in Indonesia.

  • I'm ordering this..I always wanted the real stort on Bolin's death...

  • @LBjim Tommy Bolin OD'd on heroin, maybe Cocaine and heroin,Speedball Bolin was his nickname...but that was the first show of the Jeff Beck/Bolin tour in Miami, they were supposrd to play in Tampa where I live the next show...pretty sure DP guys were not around !!

  • Without a slightest doubt in my mind, some of the VERY BEST rock bands ever come out of England and my fabourite band is a living proof of what I just said.Deep Purple quite simply KICK some serious ass.

  • ILL GET THIS 3 DAYS BEFORE I SEE DEEP PURPLE{ACTUALLY WITHOUT LORD ITS NOT PURPLE ANYMORE THOUGH I RESPECT AIREY}.

    CANT FUCKING WAIT

  • @77elvistheking shite...it hasnt been Purple since MORSE joined.... BLACKMORE IS PURPLE...he may be an asshole...and an egomaniac...but he IS PURPLE.....MORSE NEEDS to go back to DIXIE DREGS and OPEN UP for PURPLE WITH BLACKMORE!

  • One more awful Mark II oriented story. But this rare Tommy video documentary... It's great!

  • Tommy was one of the greatest guitarists ever. He covered so much musical ground. Went to Bolin Fest last year in Iowa and his brother Johnnie let me into his house. I got to hang out in Tommy"s bedroom with my wife. How cool is that? This is Tommy"s year and I'm so glad he's finally getting his due. Its worth your time to hear his whole catalog. Just ask Jeff Beck. Best Purple album HANDS DOWN !

  • Tommy ruined Deep Purple in the 70s

  • Finally this DVD will be released in May 20th under the new title "Phoenix Rising"! YEEEEAAAH!!!

  • @GreggTedde how do you know that?

  • When will this thing come out?

  • where can i get this?

  • hey super xu! , i didnt say anything about hughes"s playing , nor do i care how good they thought they were while they were on drugs, in the 70"s, i listend to deep purple, the scorpions, ufo , rainbow , beck, clapton, hendrix , trower , etc...so if i missed some SUPER GUITARIST of the era , oh well...you know more than i do..BUT...when i heard tommy bolin, i said damm. this guy is jammin with his copycat echoplex and non floyd rose strat , a natural self taught style , no mate i am not joking

  • Watch this Justin Bieber!

  • tommy bolin was a hella guitarist , if you can find quadrant 4 by billy cobham, your in for some early bolin magic, he also played w/ alphonse mouzon , there was something special about bolin , when he died , it was a sad day , it would be nice to have his music revamped today , this should be an interesting piece if it does get released, come taste the band was a very good album, and we could have enjoyed more from this line up..rip tommy.......

  • @hellcats12 You have to be joking mate!!! You havn't listened to many axe men then.LMAO.Bolin and Hghes were primadonnas, whose drug addled brains made them think that they were better than they really were...

  • I saw him when I was 15.. blew me away and I will never forget it.. TOMMY BOLIN FOREVER

  • Lord - Paice - Bolin - Coverdale - Hughes. Are you kidding me?! That lineup is freakin electric! Paicey and Tommy work so good together. Dammit, Tommy, why did you have to go so sadly? That lineup had at least 2 more fantastic albums in them.

  • Is this DVD actually coming out or what?

  • Finally Tommy will get some recognition. He was on the same level as Hendrix and Page in my humble opinion and it gave me goosebumps to see this trailor. Right F ing on!

  • whats the god damn fuckin release date of this dvd...cant find it anywhere...

  • I would have died to be able to see Tommy Bolin live, in any setting. Cannot wait to see this film. Been waiting for it forever now. Bolin was absolutely positively a stunning talent. Such a sad, sad thing to know that he became addicted, and then to know that he was surrounded by such fucking fucks the night he died. That body guard should be in prison. RIP Tommy Bolin, you're the best!!!!

  • When is it coming out, must have. Saw this line up live. Still remember it as being awesome. RIP Tommy Bolin.

  • making a DVD about Deep Purple MKII would have been soo much better!

  • @mrtwig80 although i do agree, there's many dvds about the mk 11 line up, ie..Machine head classic ablums, live denmark 72', made in japan, there's hardly anything on this very underrated "mk"

  • !!!!!!!!

  • Should be great for fans of Bolin era Purple.

Come Taste The Band was/is a great disc.

Another band Tommy improved dramatically after he joined.

did the same thing with the James Gang.

Looking forward to the release of this.

  • Well it's early 2011. Where's this gem? Not one site has an update

  • @hocuspocus96 Cheers (your cheque's in the post).

  • @hocuspocus96 Yeah i remember in the excellent BBC Rock Family Trees docu from '95 Hughes states that "Then we made that awful record Last Concert In Japan which should never have been released. For any Deep Purple fan who has that knows Tommy can't play." In an ironic twist though i've always liked Paice's drumming from this era and Mr Lord also does a sterling job of trying to save a sinking ship, ha ha.

  • Can't wait to see this.....wow! Great, great, great....

  • Come Taste is without doubt one of the classic defining albums of all time taking rock & funk into fantastic unchartered waters. RIP Tommy ~ far too good a player to be taken in his prime.

  • anyone knows the exact date of the documentary release?

  • Who the h' are thise guys...?

  • @ronykot79 deep purple lol

you don't recognize david coverdale i.e. BEST SINGER EVER.

mk 3 was definitely the best purple

  • THIS VIDEO WAS JUST AVAILABLE ON THE GREAT HISTORY AND HIGLIGHTS DVD! Why you would pay for a dvd with much less material?

  • Need to have!

  • This is going to be EPIC!!!

  • my favourite era purple in a documentary....wow...i simply cant wait!!!

  • Waiting for the remaster of Come taste the band for years. This is the icing on the cake!

  • Why making a Movie about THIS decade of deep Purple???? I don't get it....

Deep Purple is the chemical about Ritchie Blackmore and Jon Lord

  • I MUST HAVE THIS!!!!!!!

  • Lo and behold, you let drug addicts into a hard working band and it falls to pieces. This looks like a great documentary

  • PURE purple magic dust still been sprinkled over the last forty years plus @ its best.

can wait for this release. mark 1,2,3,4,i dont care. they all had it and still have everyone of the DP boys.

    bring it on 2011

  • someone let me know when this hits the shelves

  • Awesome :D

  • Great marketing for Episode 3! And I thought Valve has given up on the franchise! ...I`m surprised Breen is alive, though.

  • Docter breen!!!! WDF i just noticed

  • @sasquich

dude there is no point of doing that, if people want to listen to shit, let them listen.

  • @mikeportnoyfan i gt paid for doing that :D

  • @sasquich lucky you dude

  • anyone know the song that plays in the video?

  • MK3 Forever............

  • why isn't jon lord in the tags?

  • ritchie ? where is he

  • @hacaba Ritchie was left the band on April 1975. This film talks about era with Tommy Bollin on guitar

  • Can't wait till the release. the great Tommy Bolin. the best Deep Purple eva

  • is it or does tht guy look like dr breen off half life 2

  • :) nice

  • where is gillan and blackmore????

  • @laughingboy0068 if you play the video, you'd probably see that the strange things that happened in the Bolin era were very unique. In spite of the conflicts between Gillan and Blackmore, it generally was 'business as usual' with musicians who were professional - they kept the music the focus.

  • LIAR!

  • FAKE !

  • awsome!

  • @laughingboy0068 This documentary is about the last year of Deep Purple, with MKIV: Coverdale/Hughes/Lord/Paice/Bolin and about the split in 1975. So, I don't see any place here for Gillan or Blackmore (notwithstanding the fact that I'm a huge Gillan and Blackmore fan)

  • iT'S BETTER TO BURN OUT THAN TO FADE AWAY!!

  • the fk is this

  • Wow, I can't wait to see the film when it comes out!!!!

    Thanks for posting this.

  • Holy crap i thought this was Dr.Breen

  • I came here for Dr. Breen... :D

  • simply stunning! Please THANK YOU very much for this footage, and I ll wait for the release!!!

  • sadasdasdsadassd

  • OH MY GOD!!! I WAS WAITING FOR THIS !!! YEEEAAAAAH !!! :D

  • desperdiçe seu precioso tempo no video youtube.com/watch?v=VUNE8sFvY58

  • I can't wait for this.... just awesome.. some never Bolin always welcomed

  • I can't wait for this.... just awesome

  • funny thing is the stuff I like from Hughes and Gillan is the Sabbath albums they did, and from Coverdale: When he worked with Jimmy Page.

  • The quality of the Rises Over japan footage is actually a really good upgrade here. I can tell you that the 25 or so minute edit that briefly came out is a very small portion of what is in the archives. The full concert was filmed and save for a couple of edits in the respective solos the concert is complete. There is also a 100 minute edit also in the archives. Interesting stuff particularly as the audio was recorded on 16 track tape and can be married to the film at some point!

  • Doctor Breen? I THOUGHT WHAT WE HAD WAS SPECIAL!!!!!!!!!

  • Great Mk...Can't wait to see the video...One of the greatest albums of all time...Tommy n Glenn were great soul brothers...

  • .....

  • I like the old "Purple" stuff . Great .....

  • awasomeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee /watch?v=_WJBaNdQdts

  • Omg Dr. Breen has come alive after the big boom in city 17

  • Friggin sensational, can't wait ti buy it!

  • This is so Spinal Tap.. :)

  • can´t wait, thanks

  • /watch?v=hyy17oH83fY

  • This is just great! Thanks for sharing!

  • great rock band. better than todays music lol

  • reflection even, ha ha.

  • Una formación extraordinaria es una pena su corta duración

  • On relection I'd say Lord and Paice kept the band together on stage (BIGTIME) until it's demise in Mar '76 at the Liverpool Empire. I think the fact they weren't high on drugs kinda helped, ha ha. The Foxbat '76 cd from the U.S. Tour is good though imo, you can tell Bolin (RIP) is making the effort there. Never a dull moment in the history of Purple that's for sure!

  • I would go absolutely apeshit for a documentary about Mk II, but this looks pretty cool anyway.

  • @BarryDennen12 The dvd Classic Albums - Machine Head is brill if you haven't seen it already, even features interview bits with Blackmore. The BBC docu from '95 Rock Family Trees was also good, told the bands story up until the mid-90's and featured most members thru their career (but not Blackmore). Can't get that one on dvd but their both on Tube anyway (like everything else in the universe, ha ha).

    (David).

  • Just got the Classic Albums one recently, great viewing!

  • @BarryDennen12 Yeh, Mk 2 was the real Purple in my mind.

  • digitem musica de 1 milhao de reais

  • @Aelfredus26 exactly what I thought Gordon :D

  • @Aelfredus26 TRUEEEE!

  • @Aelfredus26 Hahahahahahahaha! Exactly what was in my mind. Spot on! That IS fucking Dr. Breen!

  • @Aelfredus26 Hi Flash, on which planet are you? Come down !!!!

  • @Aelfredus26 Doctor Breen Gained some Weight and let his hair grow. XD

  • @Aelfredus26 It must be him ;o

  • @Aelfredus26 Its more like Dorust Ducan (sorry i dont know how to speel this right its from star wars 3 :vegaence of the siths) PS:sorry for my english if is vegeance im apogilize lol

  • Hopefully with this some people will get to see just how awesome Tommy Bolin was...RIP

  • Well, Led zep reunited, deep Purple as well now...

only black sabbath left to complete the (un)holy trinity of the early 70's

The Black, The Gold, The Purple

  • @natmanprime Well. Led Zeppelin reunited for only one-off thing. Deep Purple (nowadays) can't be called "reunited", Black Sabbath..... Black Sabbath simply doesn't exist anymore...

I wish THE REAL PROMOTER to make a "Big Three Tour" - Led Zeppelin (Plant/Jones/Bonham junior/Page), Deep Purple (Lord/Blackmore/Gillan/Glover/Paice) and Black Sabbath (Ozzy/Iommi/Buttler/Appice) - that would be THE GREATEST ROCK TOUR EVER!

The best thing is that such kind of tour is absolutely possible (still)

  • @georgiansolitaire yes SIR

    Your optimism is amazing...

They are too old now, I was only speculating

In fact it would be quite funny

    LOL

    Rock is for the young

A cover band would be better

  • @Jaggerville Footage of Deep Purple in New Zealand? I just have to have that. I didn't know any footage existed. I've never seen any footage of them in New Zealand and I would be so thrilled to see anything of Deep Purple's visit to our remote Islands.Have you got more information about this "New Zealand concert" please.

  • I'm A Major Fan!

    When Will It Come Out?

  • Been a fan of all things Purple since the 80's and this looks good. Could listen to Mr Lord all day long, such an eloquent well spoken man with a great sense of humour and Mr Hughes is an interesting chap as well. Shame the final 70's lineup of the band descended into a blur of drugs as they were good live imo (when Bolin (RIP) and Hughes weren't high that is!)

  • Quality looks much improved on the History, Hits and Highlights DVD. Must be from a better source!

  • OMG GLENN!!!!!!!!!!!

    LOOKS SO DIFFERENT!!!!

  • This is gonna be awesome!

  • I can not wait to see the whole finished movie!

  • Its true that this uses a lot of HITS AND HIGHLIGHTS.

Even worse, it uses MK 3 material!!!!!

  • good editing..let's see how they flesh the dvd out.

Perhaps some Tommy Bolin/James Gang footage.interviews with Johnny Bolin?

The former Mrs Glenn Hughes -Karen Ulibari,Martin Birch & all the surviving band members of course
