The first Servis twin tub did come out in 1959 but it wasn't called the MK1, it was the MK19 followed by the MK30, MK42, Mk70, Mk80, MK100, MK110 and MK111, there were also a couple of gas heated models but I can't remember the model numbers, they had been making washing machines since the 1930s.
Wow! this brings back fond memories of my childhood - I know it sounds strange but my mum had one of these and I used to love wash days. I found the whole process of washing and spinning the clothes realy relaxing :-)
