I remember me being just about 8 or 9, my father and his wife (not my mom, long divorce story), came home from Tanzania with this song on their PC, i played it over and over again, until the PC acturally broke down. Down i FINALLY located it on youtube, i cannot thank you enough :-)
I just returned from Lake Naivasia Kenya, Seen the big five and many other animals.Kenya has beautifull nature and verry kind people. kind regards from The Netherlands!
Here the lyrics for those who feel like singing it! Enjoy it :) Chorus Jambo Jambo bwana Habari gani? Mzuri sana Wageni wakaribishwa Kenya yetu Hakuna matata Verse Kenya nchi nzuri Nchi ya maajabu Nchi ya kupendeza Hakuna matata ad lib Kenya yetu Hakuna matata Kenya wote
Im from philippine but i live in Sudan. I just visited kenya in early september. First time i heard this music in our tour guide when we were coming back from wasini island. I was amazed and made me sing even i dont know the lyrics. Everybody were clapping hands and sang. Beautiful and lovely song! Long live Africa!
so nice that i must cry but it's funny and happy at the same time so i have a smile on my face too. ( this is a facking bad reaction please don't read just don't!)
Thanks for the posting this song; great song, however the translation is a miss! "WAGENI " in Swahili isn't foreigners; The right and correct word/translation is :- VISITORS!
I just returned from Kenya two houers ago and it was a wonderfull holiday. I made a safari one week and it was so great! We´ve seen the big five of Kenia and many other animals. I will never forget this holiday!
Oh man, I used to sing this song all the time when I was a kid! It was in the movie Cheetah....anyone know what I'm talking about? So glad I found it :) It's a great song!
Brings back great memories of Bamburi Beach in Mombasa; sitting under the coconut tree's drinking nice cold beer, and listening to this in the background from a beach bar :) Good times.
First time I boarded a Kenya airways flight from Heathrow, I heard this song, 17 years many visits and a marriage to a Kenyan ago, with a Son British "OK" we are all British now! Later....Jambo Bwana is still ringing in my ears.Pass me a Tusker Barridi 1
as an additional note, jambo really doesn't have meaning and is meant for tourists so mambo or hujambo is used, but wherever you are they will probably know if you're a tourist or not anyway
@TomHa1 jambo means 'hello'. it's never not had a meaning. it's just that it's rarely used among the kenyans. it's mostly tourists who use it (not really sure why they are taught that and not mambo or habari or sasa)
@zonkozonko well they are a form of greeting but yeah the direct translation is 'have you got any news'. they both mean the same thing. 'Habary gani' is the proper form i guess and we shortened it to 'habari'
@Fraggle24 kiswahili means swahili language, jambo means 'hello', hujambo is like asking 'is there anything the matter with you', and karibu means welcome or come in (to my house)
I learned this song during a Swahili course in Arusha, Tanzania, just when i went to live there for two years. Except the version they tought us was "Tanzania yetu, hakuna matata." Song makes me want to go back!
Was in Kenya in Sept 2010, heard this song at least 50 times lol. Was based at Southern Palms Resort in Diani Beach, also spend a few days around Shimba Hills, Tsavo East and Tsavo West.
I went to Kenya last year on a school trip, to teach at the slum primary schools in the Jericho region. I love this song and know all the words. It has so much spirit
Im not a Kenyan my Parents are . I just love The Kenyan anthem its so cool. Ur probably thinking if i speak Kiswahili well i do speak it. I've been to Kenya. Well I was ment to be born in England but i was born in Dublin which is in Ireland so any of you guys out there heard of Ireland. Well i just loveeeeeee Kenya i wish i was born there its so cool my cucu has cllimbed all the way up to Mount Kenya can u belive it bethca yea cant huh Well lets get back to Kenya as u can see Kenya Rock
My daughter, who was almost 18, went to Kenya last year in July and stayed 11 days, traveling around, taking wildlife pictures, visiting the Masai tribe and I'll have to say, I've been many places, living in Europe for 3 years and traveling, but these people of Africa, have to be the most pleasant, sweet people I've ever encountered. Our experience was very wonderful and our tour guide was great. I can't wait to go back.
hakuna matata nakupenda Kenya nakubusu tout les kenyans vive le Kenya je suis folle amoureuse de ce pays j'y retournerai un jour si dieu le veut!!!!!!
i remember, in year 5, i had a african/white teacher, she taught us this song, and we sang it for our leavers assembly, its been in my old school for years now (:
I first heard this song when I was in Mombasa on R and R from Serving in the Army in Somalia in 1992-93. When ever I hear it I am taken back to my good times in Mombasa! Great song!
I love this song! There was an African girl in Taizé some years ago and she taught us to sing this song. We sang it the whole week from that day on. The African joy and spirit spread over us all. :)
its amazing how those people just have an awesome rhythm in their blood and even tho i dont understand the lyrics at all this song stands for pure joy of life and happiness... i love it :)
