hey at least you didn't hit a humvee that some leg fresh in from Germany parked on the DZ at 2300 on a dark and stormy night. Despite that wonderful experience I still miss it. '05-'08 B Co 307th and F co 2-504 (well, technically 307th but screw 'em)
Sicily was an ok DZ. (I think St. Mere Eglise was a nightmare for us, if I remember right.) I remember once I hit an updraft and missed the DZ altogether! ( I think we were jumping onto Holland DZ and Chicken Road passed before my feet) C-130 with a T10 chute. Those were the days.
One of the very few day drops we had a guy who had a cigarette roll but the shoot open just in time to slow him down before hitting the ground. We also has a one of many dead in the night jumps where we lost one of our soldier a PFC Alverez. Somehow the static line was wrapped around the weapons case and did not break away from the plane. It was a horrible sight.
My favorite DZ...watch out for the flight strip, I have seen dudes hit it w/feet, ass and head...looked very painful... but I couldn't stop from laughing!!!
HA that's one of the better Jumps I have seen. No A-team theme (even if we use to do the Na na na na, na na na na.) When a few of us were able to get next to each other in the chalk. St. Mere IS made of fucking concrete. And Stumps. Not as bad as all the radar towers and tarmac on Andrews tho. 93 to 97 here.
yeah salerno i was more concerned about carryin out my mission than the names... field artillery and thank you too. i jumped into spain dude. it was cold... but i got laid there first time... frickin awesome... jumping better than sex. lol
